"An odd story it was."
She sips from her cup her ,ind drifting back to the day it happened as she tells her story.
" Darela was preparing in her room when she was visited by a man. A man in dark, a man showing the mark of an hourglass on his left palm, half full, half empty.
They talked about something- a few who listened said he was asking her a question."
She lifts her fork to enjoy some of the pie, chewing slowly, relishing the taste before going on.
"What is time for you?"
Smiling she shrugs, looks at the baby who seems to listen intently. "She told him that time is something she does not have but also something she really needs.
And so he touched her and withered away, turned into a dessicated corpse while turning her into the suckling babe she is now."
The woman gets up to take the childs tiny left fist, carefully uncurling the hand- on the palm, in silver Raila notices the mark of the Hourglass- full, this time.
An Odd Transformation...

Chewing onto the same piece of pie she took with the fork, Raila palmed her hair, sliding the hand to her face as she heard more and more of the story.
Judging by description of the man in dark, it could be the Time Eater himself. One of them, at least.
The purple orbs followed eye contact, listening and absorbing every word.
When tale came to the telling of creature's death and mark was shown to prove it, the tattoed ink sharpened the angles of the squares as she glared at the baby's hand.
Uncomfortable silence hanged in the air. Tense, heavy silence.
None of this made sense.
This was insanity. The Time Eater is not booked. He just can't be. Why would he be? The abomination parasyting on the other creatures would not do that. Not for free.
No matter how she looked at that as someone who had nothing to do with Lemon business, it sounded like Eater (if it really was one) did something unthinkable. Unthinkable, but not impossible.
Remembering the Devourer, who was once an agent of the now properly booked Eater, there was something it uttered about him being able to make new Eater out of someone.
What if...?
With grit teeth, tiefling broke the silence.
"Did you have any suspicious guests lately visiting your case?"

With grim face, fighter tried to finish the slice of cake, but it was quite futile action. It was thoughtless, uneffective action.
"It was interesting chant. But I would not tell it to body asking about. And don't show the mark."
Finishing the drink, Raila stood up, giving a bow of gratitude to Thera. There was a feeling that despite the way she looked, the victim had all memories and knowledge. So, there was a second bow for the infant as well before she excused herself out of the kip.
This was a very problematic situation. No matter how many times she sat back at her own home in Hive, the dark soggy hole very unlike the home she visited, there was no definite answer coming to the mind.
Several squats later, there was something resembling decision.
Inaction was an action, in it's own way.
But she probably should keep eye on the girl.

"We will be careful", the sensate says and Raila is invited to visit again, be it for cake or tea or stories or all at once.
While the child still lacks the ability to respond in a meaningful way the girls eyes tell the tiefling that the gesture has been understood.
Perhaps her fate and future has yet to be determined, perhaps she will not grow into the monster she could be.
Time will tell.
