Kiera enters the prison archives and pulls out all the files she can find on an erinyes named Cyntheiax and the murder case against her. She also looks for any files on the victims, Ronal and Jarris Gasquet.

In particular she's looking for any known residences for Cyntheiax in Sigil, and what plane she was known to frequest.

Any acquaintances, lovers, and known contacts for the erinyes.

Also she looks for details on the scene or scenes of the torture and murder, and where the bodies were found if the locations differ.

Finally she looks over the files of the victims, if found.

It's mentioned they were visitors, she looks to see if they had even a temporary residence. Did they have a room at the inn, or any regular visits with any citizens.

Finally she looks for any connection between the victims and the murderer other than the strife between their respective patrons, and any connection between Cyntheiax and any powerful outsider other than Loviatar.

Kiera would find that at the time of her arrest the Erinyes owned a house in The Clerks ward. She is also listed as possessing a license to own slaves. She had one registered to her at the time of the arrest, a Richard Sampson. He and by extension she owned a warehouse in The lower Ward. It is there that the two murders took place.

Mr Gasquet, both junior and senior were according to the case notes she reads pilgrims from Aber Toril who had stopped in Sigil on their way to their deities domain on mount Celestia. It does not mention it in the files she reads but Kiera would know from her own time on Toril that the faith of Illmatar and her own are often opposed, this seems to be the motivation for the killing, but it could be more than is written down. They were stopping at Muriel's inn The Foul Olde Spirit at the time f their disappearance.

Cyntheiax's own history is what was gleaned from her interrogation. She was originally from Avernus but converted to the worship of Lovitar after being sent to Acheron to muster support for The Blood War. She was in cell 689 during her stay at the prison one of the infamous deadbook cells.

Kiera pens a quick request and leaves it for Factor Black Hand

As the burden of this investigation is on myself I am working with an outside resource, out of my own pocket, and on my own time.  I am requesting permission to bring an individual who is not of our faction into the prison to search cell 689, and for that purpose only.  She's much more adept at it than I will be, but if permission cannot be granted I'll pursue another course.  I will take full responsibility for my contact while we are in the prison, and promptly escort her out when our time there is done.

Thank you for your time,

Before permission for any such action can be granted more details about the party you wish to bring into the prison will be required as they must be vetted by security.

((Done after last nights post in "Path to Enlightenment" about her trip to the Beastlands, also edited to match DM update below, and my terrible typos))

Having not seen any sign of Huntress in several days to ask her about this Kiera decides to turn to magic and attempt the search herself. She descends to cell 689.

As she enters the cell Kira feels giddy. The world spins and the next thing she knows she is on the floor feeling light headed as is she fainted.

Recovering after her fall she looks around warily, not knowing how long she lay there. She gets back up and returns to her work after checking to make sure she is along. She extends her nails and moves to press it to her wrist. She hesitates with the razor sharp steel against her skin, then shakes her head and presses into her wrist, drawing blood and pain, and casting True Seeing.

With the aid of the magic she looks for any remnants of, or clues that might show how a prisoner in the cell may have communicated with the outside. She suspects the erinyes had some way of notifying someone of being moved, or her impending execution. The feelings and voices hovering at the edge of her mind bother her, but she presses on.

After searching for anything that might be hidden by magic she does a thorough search through mundane means (search mod 0 unfortunately). She takes her time, going over the cell meticulously, looking for anything the erinyes might have left behind. She searches inside the cot and/or mattress. Between all the stones that can be reached, and even those above her head, pulling furniture next to the walls. Every nook and cranny in the cell is checked three time, regardless of how long it takes.

As she enters the cell Kira feels giddy. The world spins and the next thing she knows she is on the floor feeling light headed as is she fainted. As she gets up and begins to cast her divinations she senses magic, though faint distant. Barely recalled memories creep into her mind, hazy shades. Something in this room. Something that filled it, something that new about Kira, whispered to her. If only she could remember what.

As she searches slowly taking her time she finds a loose cobblestone. Her grafted hands easily pry it up and cast it aside. Beneath it she finds a crumpled scroll, the words on it gone, the spell spent and a short length of red rope frayed at the ends.

Kiera would sit back on the cot, recent events, and the episode in the cell setting her nerves on edge. She holds the blank scroll in one hand, flattened to show nothing written on it. In her other the red rope that sent chills through her the moment she saw it. Her mind tries to grasp what purpose the rope could be for, what spell it might be a component for, but her mind continues to return to the divine inclinations of the symbol.

"Why would an erinyes of the Maiden have a token of the Weeping God?" She asks the dark cell quietly. "This must be an arcane component."

Getting a handle on her emotions Kiera tucks the clues away in her bag and heads out of the prison. She intends to catalog the evidence, but decides not to do so yet, until she is sure what it is and what it means. She heads to the bazaar, stopping by Minerva's. She purchase some basic items for wandcraft, some small tokens, leather cording, beads and stones, and after paying for them she shows the two items found in the prison to the wizard.

First she shows the parchment, "Is there any way to know what was written on this, if it were a spent scroll?"

She waits for an answer, then shows the red rope. "Do you know of any arcane spell this might be a component for?"

Nothing stops her from leaving the prison, and she has no further episodes like in the cell. Minerva takes the scroll and examines it her brows furrowing.

"Its magic has been spent, but with some time I could probably tell you what sort of spell it is."

She examines the red cord.

"I cannot think of any spell it is a component then but as a general rule I assume anything strange brought to me is such a way is either a spell component a piece of junk or a portal key."

Kiera nods and takes back the rope, but leaves the parchment with Minerva. She gives the wizard a few extra jink for the information she did give and taps the parchment with her finger.

"Whatever the cost, I need to know as much about what was on that as I can," Kiera says firmly. She takes her purchases, and the red rope and walks away.

Back in her room she considers the red rope. Something Minerva said about a portal key intrigued her. She didn't know of any divine spells requiring such a focus, except for those cast specifically by Ilmateri, and as far as she knew the Erinyes was Loviatarran. The rope didn't open a portal in the cell so it wasn't there, if it was even a key. She tucked the rope into her sack and looked over her notes to plan her visits to the other sites in the file.

Kiera would awaken, tired and sore, and slightly disoriented after the previous night's episode (In Path to Enlightenment). She takes a few minutes to put her room back in order, returning the Alter to its place, and her tools upon it. Shunning her work leathers she buckles on her armor, finding the pieces scattered all over the suite. Once done she makes sure she has the red rope in her bag and leaves the Spirit for the Clerk's ward.

She follows her notes from the case file to find the house the erinyes used to own. Once there she knocks, unsure if the property is occupied again. If there is no answer she'll look for another way in, an unlocked window, weak door in the back etc.

((If you would prefer any of this to be done in game by all means let me know.))
