The newly promoted Notary was quite a busy lass, as anyone who saw her in the Barracks could tell, but no matter how many times a courteous young man offered his assistance, she refused with a smile, replying that she got into this mess and she'll sort it out on her own.
A week or so after her first report to the Fraternity of Order, Ny'Leve had finished compiling the basis of her investigation into board ready with various evidences pointing at one another, and presented it to her commanding officer.
"It has become obvious over the past few weeks, that an unknown group has been stealing artifacts from various religions, ranging from Heironeus to Nerull, with the intention of sowing chaos and pitting these groups neck and neck."
My first hunch came when I recovered this note from a corpse in Undersigil, during a recovery of a holy tome of Boccob..." she motioned at the dirty note with the names of deities and portal designations, "...this is a list of all churches affected, and the portals seem to lead to secret entrances into their respective holy sites. The names of Boccob, and Gruumsh, who's champion we met down there, are clearly on it. I believe this is more than enough evidence that these are not mere coincidences but a carefully ordained crime."
"A second incident took place in the Hive, where the brother of the recently accused Heironean Paladin was standing watch over a rented house, and was confronted by a Nerullean Wight, leading to a conflict. Apparently, someone told the Night Hag that the paladins of Heironeus stole one of their artifacts. This led to a battle of words, until one of my accomplices spied that a window of the rented house was pried open, and everyone inside was murdered..."
She pauses for a moment, bringing up a few magical parchments where the evidence was magically photographed onto.
"Each of the three victims was stabbed through the lung and heart, a silent death strike favored by the most vicious of assassins. Attempting to raise them made me feel that their spirits were held back by some invisible, dark force. The third one had this skull bashed in along with the stab, and had a pouch of gold planted upon him. Whilst attempting to raise him, I found his spirit was held back by an avatar of Hextor, something which greatly distressed the surviving Heironite. Hextor it seems was most likely used as a scapegoat, for according to the wight these methods were far too brash for his followers to commit."
"So, as you can see, sir, the situation is getting more and more tense, which is why I recommend we do a full investigation into this matter before we have more religious fanatics clawing at eachother's necks than we can count."
She humbly bows upon presenting her case, awaiting the commander's response.
A New Investigation

The measure leans back in his chair, listening intently, his fingers playing with his quill.
He looks through the evidence shown, reading slowly, carefully- he is obviously not a man of quick decisions.
"Impressive work, Notary. You get this case. Get to the bottom of it."
Then he leans forward.
"Sir Lennes was found guilty at the courts and sent to the prison. I will give you a permit that allows you to visit him- should there be questions.
I wish you good luck... St. Cuthbert shall guide your steps."

"Can we send a letter to each of the Churches and their Sigil representatives to try and organize a co-operative effort in finding the true culprit per chance? If we delay these too much they might become a bit too zealous to even consider such."

"If this is how you want to proceed go ahead, Notary.
There are a few official temples and shrines in Sigil- and with some research in the our archives and those of the Fraternity and Fated you should be able to find what you need.
Perhaps there are also other ways. Keep your eyes, ears and mind open."

There is a report of hooligan activity coming from the gates. Some seedy individual thrown a knife with note in the doors of the Barracks, but escaped before the guards could chase the culprit. The note has a message written in Common language.
"Absolutely not a death threat!
If you are so stingy about someone putting holes in doors of your house, I will leave next dagger with some compensation.
Offering help for a small comission of gold. I have skills your iron-clad fellas don't have."

A few days later Notary Ny'Leve gets another letter:
(((she the MK thread for the report Tala wrote. As investigating officer Ny has access to it ICly))wrote: Notary,
our allies in the Red Death have uncovered a new lead that might be worth following.
A man named Genthess, living in the Lady's ward might be involved in this matter. I suggest to find and arrest him soon.
Gorman,
Measure III
