A Notice For The Notaries

After the meeting Hograth writes a letter to the Godsmen- and also a note to his superiours.

To: Movers, Harmonium
From: Hograth Thorn, Measure III

Ladies, Sirs,

I hereby request the permission to search Measure Maime's belonging as I fear she might be involved in the kidnapping of the boy Shea.

She dismissed all troopers who were on patrol in the area and failed to return to the Barracks afterwards.

Authorization soon comes. Amongst the usual spare sets of clothes in the locker Hogarth finds something odd, a length of copper wire about a foot long.

The Measure's file arrives on his desk too. Measure Alesha Maime was born in Sigil's Lady's ward to a noble family with a long history of supporting The Harmonium financially through donations. The Measure in her youth she joined The Expansionists much to her parents dismay. After that Faction's dissolution she joined The Harmonium. She took the officer training on Arcadia which she past with distinction and has served The Faction well until now it would seem. Her family still live in The Lady's Ward.

Hograth reports his findings to his superiours then writes up an order for arrest for this Measure, distributing it to the Notaries who are on patrol.

Troopers,

one of our finest has betrayed our trust, is involved in the hideaous crime of kidnapping a young boy.

He sends a requst to the archives to check the files for more ex-Growers in the Hardhead ranks then makes his way to the house her family lives in, hoping to find some answers.

As he is on his way out a Notary hands him an envelope. It has the seal of The Fated on the back.

Measure Thorn

I understand you are involved in an investigation as to the whereabouts of Factor Mullcare formerly of The Fated.  We have been conducting an investigation of our own and it is my belief we can help each other.  I will send Factotum Aidain whom I believe you have already met to liaise with you and share what we know.  I would take it as a great personal favour if you would accommodate him.

After reading the files Hograth sees to it that the Ex-Expansionist troopers are removed from active duty and assigned to do jobs inside the barracks. He will take care that they are not assigned together, keeping them apart from each other.

Of course there are also some who outrank him- so he has to write the following letter:

From: Hograth Thorn, Measure III

Sir,

I hereby request that Measure III Greene and Mover II Heath to be removed from active duty. Both have ties to the old Expansionist faction so I fear their loyality to our cause might be compromised.

Please see the attached report about Measure Maime, another Harmomium officer with Expansionist ties who is involved in the kidnapping of the boy Shea.

I am aware that questioning the loyality of a trooper is nothing that shall to be done lightly but I fear the damage that could be done by those officers could be worse.

Attached are copies of the ongoing investigations as well as excerpts of the files from the officers and Measure Maime.

Evidently Hogarth's letter did not find its way to Sarin, the Factol being a busy man, but he does get a response.

Measure

Both officers have been confined to Barracks. I would like any investigation conducted quickly as both are important to the Factions operations in Sigil

After his trip to Sir Maime's holdings on the prime Hograth was oddly pleased- mother and son have been reunited, he kept his word.


Nevertheless some news were more troubling, the boy's fate something he is not exactly happy with. The Jasidin in him understand the Measure but he cannot agree with her reasons and methods.

However what he thinks or feels does not matter anyway- he has his duties and so he writes a report for his superiours:

Ladies, Sirs,

I succeeded to find Lady Maime at her father's holdings. She renounced the Harmonium, once again claiming to be loyal to the Expansionist cause but is willing to return to the cage to face the consquences for her acts after serving her faction in a last task. Nevertheless I suggest her name to be striken from the records, her behaviour not living up to the standards that are expected from a Harmonium officer.

Her father's castle is held by her and several soldiers bearing Grower coats of arms, assaulting the place will require several squads with full arcane and divine support. Should you consider a strike I suggest to contact Sir Maime himself as he might know of ways inside the castle or potential weaknesses we might exploit.

As the boy Shea is held there as well I suceeded in reuniting him with his mother. Nevertheless his abduction shall still be investigated as several of Sigil's laws have been broken and damage was inflicted on citizen property.

I was also able to find out that the boy Shea is a clone or reincarnated form of Timlin and that they plan to reawaken his memories to have their fallen Factor returned to them.

Reading the note he got he then files it- and then tries to find some of the troopers to talk to them. Perhaps he can fnd something, perhaps he even can find a way that allows the boy to choose his own path, free from the shackles of his past.

As things calmed down a bit Hograth sends a note back to the Taker Factor:
