Reply To Measure I Inodine

Measure 1 Inodine, whose command includes a small outpost in the Hive, sends word to the Barracks to find out if the rumors about the patrol disappearances are true or not.

Measure Inodine doesn't receive a reply until the following day, delivered by a scruffy looking tout and not an official Harmonium officer. It reads:

Measure Inodine,

I'm afraid that the rumors are true. As such, I am forwarding temporary orders to all patrols and posts within the Hive and Great Bazaar. These are to be followed to the letter until command determines the proper time to directly confront our opponents. The orders are as follows:

-Always exercise the utmost in discretion and courtesy.
-Avoid inciting unnecessary tension with the locals (especially in the Hive.)
-Do not engage in debates with locals on or off duty (especially in the Great Bazaar.)
-Avoid any suspected Anarch safe-houses and strongholds.
-Strictly adhere to highly public patrol routes.
-Prioritize the safety of your fellow officers and the security of your post.
-Immediately report any missing officers from duty to command via discreet courier.
-Immediately relay any and all information you have regarding the missing officers, the murder victims, or suspected anti-Harmonium and/or anti-Triad persons to command via discreet courier.

As you well know, our presence in the Hive is delicate, and though the incidents are centered around the Bazaar, we must never underestimate the Anarch element. We will win this struggle against the lawless, but not with bravado and foolishness.

Measure Inodine hands the orders to the dozen or so troops under his command. They're all rough types, assigned to the Hive due to their penchant for being "iron fisted" and tough... many on the fringe of the Harmonium, best kept in areas with little hope of "public relations".

"These are your official orders. Memorize them and know them clearly. Officially you are to adhere to them no matter where we patrol.

Now... unofficially... it's business as usual. We'll not become another failed attempt to win the love of the locals. We all know that isn't going to happen. Continue to patrol and bring order as we've always done... the locals will not back down and neither shall we. We are Harmonium. We will bring order to these vermin whether they like it or not."

With that he places the orders in the communications box he keeps and takes his place on the small rampart... watching the next trio of patrolman head out on their route knowing blood will likely be seen as it usually is.
