A few days ago, Charae filed for a license for slave ownership with the Fraternity of Order. Once it was approved, she came back two days later with a receipt from a human female she'd purchased from a hezrou in the Temple of the Abyss. The dark elf signed a few papers, registered the indentured servant's name and description, and left when finished.

Caterina would take the completed forms from the drow and after checking they had all been completed she would also make a note of Charae's name and the type of demon. The new owner would be given a collar or in the case of a larger fiend a bracelet with a unique identification number the details of which would be recorded and registered against Charae's name as proof of her ownership.

"Apologies," Charae said, "I purchased the slave from a demon. The slave is a human female."

Cat would sigh and roll her eyes.

"This requires a different set of forms."

She takes the initial set and places them in a large metal bin and then turns on her chair looking through a number of drawers until she finds another set of forms.

"Sign here here and here, initial here."

She then reaches into another draw and produces another sack of forms.

"These need to be signed here and here and handed to the fated at the hall of records."

She gives what is a polite if some what forced smile the look of frustrated bureaucrats the multiverse over.

Charae blinked at the mass of papers dropped in front of her. "Hmm, never thought I'd miss how slaves are purchased in Sschindrylyn," she said at length. The drowess read through the forms, signing and initialing where appropriate.

Once finished, she returned the same forced smile back. "Thank you." If there was nothing else to sign, Charae would collect the items she needed and went to the Hall of Records to complete the process. "Perhaps I should think twice before considering an additional servant," she mused.

Caterina takes the second set of forms. She amends the details she has taking the name of Charae's new slave from the form. She writes down another long serial number and slips that through a loop in the collar.

"A paid servant will require another two forms as the Fated will require you to pay tax on their wages as opposed to the one off property tax you pay on a slave. The Fraternity will also require you to list what you have them employed for to enter into our Census. Shall I fetch you these forms too?"

If there is any humor in Caterina's tone it is dry to the point of being unrecognizable. Only a very thin smile suggests she might be joking.

Charae groaned, then smiled faintly. "I suppose if such a form exists, I'll have to sign for the consensus. Go ahead and bring it, Caterina." The priestess tapped the pen on the counter.

Something aproaching a smile crosses Cat's lips in a moment of sadistic glee sadistic glee it seems she might actually let Charae struggle with that paper work to but she relents.

"As I said you only need to fill these out if she is to undertake paid work for you. I mention them only because you mentioned the prospect of employing a servant in future and legally we draw a distinction between slaves and servants. What you have here;

She taps the completed form.[/]

"is one fully registered and owned slave to carry out whatever unpaid work you desire. If thats all you need today you will probably be pleased to know we are finished. I suggest you take the other form away and familiarise yourself with them. One can never be too familiar with the paperwork."

"Perhaps in the future, but not at this time." Charae smiled, brushed an errant lock of her stark white hair from her face, and collected the blank forms. "Though I will study these at home. Thank you." With that, Charae slipped the blank forms into a small leather folder and tucked it under her arm. "Good day, Caterina." She then left the building.

Caterina's desk would be occupied by an aide who would inform Charae she has been moved to her own office. Once Charae had filled out all the forms required of a visitor to the courts and had her identity confirmed she would be shown to it. The door would be difficult to open a large stack of files from the hall of speakers being piled up on the other side. The room is neat and tidy even in its cluttered state the stacks of paper are carefully arranged. Even the chaos is organised. At the desk sits Caterina a lage bat is perched on the arm of her chair the familiar eyes the dark elf and squeaks causing it mistress to look up.

"Lady's grace Factourm. I once knew a mercykiller who said it was the red death who dealt with the ugly side of justice. Looking around us now I beg to differ."
