Looks like they can evade answering, but if pushed into a "Just answer Yes or No or be charged with contempt of court" type situation then they would have to answer.

But, if we do that, then we don't even need to really have a trial. Hildmor would simply be forced into incriminating himself, so we leave him with a chance to defend himself however he wants.

However, its a valid point, if a zone of truth is possible, then you would expect it to be used at all criminal trials in Sigil...

You know, people shouldn't really give us evil ideas.... DMs are evil enough as it is. ;)

I think we could cook up a very high level caster as well to make the zone, with Focus in Enchantment and spell focus feats... and throw in Heighten Spell up to level 9 for extra DC. :P

Some people seem to have very strange ideas how the law works in Sigil...

It's because...well, there's no -true- textbook set of laws or protocols.

As to why I say that stuff can't normally be added during a trial...Imagien that in a real life trial all spectators start adding their own written testimonies or ask to be allowed to testify at that stand. That doesn't normally happen. In this trial, it's a pretty gray area since the debate revolves around sensory stones which already were in the case...

None of the OOC opinions matter, only judges IC opinion does at current moment. No need to try to complicate the matter with OOC arguing, it's faster to just move on the "try it" it either works or it doesn't. You get ignored? Then you have your answer right there.

All this arguing is pointless and serves no other purpose but to agitate people that are involved :P it's a bloody trial over couple fictional characters, no need to take it so seriously. I already screwed my character out of it and he's practically unable to travel around anymore, I haven't complained, but I played him like I envisioned the character to be. Pride being his vice, as well as certain matters in that occurred in near history that resulted to such behavioral pattern, which ironically have nothing to do with Hildmor (Although I'm certain the character will claim otherwise regarding the downfall of Cratten).

Just play your characters mmmkay :P winning is such boring motive to play the game.

All fair points. Yep, lets just cut OOC from this point on...As for Cratten, whatever reasons it were for his behavior, I am not really sure if Ixia getting kidnapped helped his attitude much(Hildmor is indeed not aware as to what did it, the only reasons he can think of is the kidnapping so yes, he indeed is going to claim otherwise :P)

Ok, Xndar reminded us there was a Zone of Truth. We can assume anyone entering is checked for magic items and spells which are removed before testifying.

We can also assume that the court is aware of the reliability of such zones. They would either cast a will sapping spell on the person before they enter, or indeed have a high level specialist caster cast the spell so they can be sure of the veracity of statements.

And, once again, i remind, that on the server, we treat levels as roughly half of what they really are for RP purposes... you are not more powerful than gods. So, we can allow ourselves NPCs that are twice your level or more.

However, having said all that, i'm not going to request rolls.

If you want to RP being affected by the spell, as would be the most likely outcome in the circumstances, then do so.

If you want to act like a level 30 badass who can resist everything and is untouchable, then go ahead and do that.
