Kierisen entered her room at the inn, kicking the door behind her and leaning against the jam. Her wet hair soaked the old wood behind her and the smell of soap and oils slowly filled the room from her recent trip to the bathhouse. She closed her eyes, her mind roiling with the events of the past few hours.
The violation that brought back the childhood nightmares. Feeling that 'thing' invade her, took her back eighteen years to the 'loving' ministrations of her father and his friends. It wasn't the pain that took her back, but the feeling, the idea, that part that is entirely, solely male invading her body. She did not know a female could do such a thing, could grow into a male...she would have to be more careful.
She had gone out for a drink, anything to calm her nerves. She'd seen her friend, Loroka, the sweet girl who was so kind. Kierisen knew she didn't deserve it, her soul was as dark and scarred as her body. Loroka didn't know, how could she? She was just being kind, not judging, not making assumptions. Assumptions that were usually correct. Seeing her, hearing her kind words, the concern in her voice she suddenly felt dirty. Kierisen needed to get clean, to wash the memory of shame away.
They went to the bathhouse, at first they talked as Kierisen bathed, scrubbing at her skin as if she could was all the nightmares away. Loroka had comforted her, held her and told her it would be all right. Then they had loved, it was tender, something Kierisen was unused to. She couldn't love, it was dangerous. Loroka didn't know, couldn't know. After, Loroka had continued, giving Kierisen the pain she deserved, the pain she loved, what she was used to. Kierisen had reveled in the suffering, but it was more. Loroka gave her the pain because Kierisen wanted it, because she asked for it, not for some self-gratification. Loroka had made love to Kierisen in the only way the human woman knew, and the suffering was blissful ecstasy.
Kierisen would have to be careful. Her Maiden might make demands of her, further her suffering because of her weakness. Kierisen would have to give a sacrifice to the Maiden to appease her, punishment for her weakness. She finally stood and crossed the room, opening an ornate, black wood case. The pulled from it a black scourge, an ivory handled tool of pain and pleasure. The fan of leather thongs hung from it as she caressed the handle, smoothed from years of loving use. It had been her mistress' before her. She dragged the thongs through her hand, grimacing and moaning in anticipation as the metal barbs pulled at her skin painfully.
Moving to a small stone alter in the corner she unhooked her leathers, letting them fall as she walked. She knelt before the stone, her body, with its countless scars, bared for her mistress to see. Her hand jerked and the leather hissed through the air before striking her back, she inhaled sharply before speaking.
"Maiden forgive my weakness," she dragged the leather up toward her shoulder, a trail of bloody marks following. The leather hissed again, striking the other side.
"I give my suffering to you freely," another strike, alternating from side to side.
"I will..will not harm her," her eyes water and she moaned as her body responded to the pain.
"I...I will s-suffer more...to spare h-her."
She continued until her arm became weak and her body collapsed to the floor, a shaking form, wracked by unholy, and orgasmic suffering. All the while she offered herself, her pain, so that she may spare another. She's afraid it won't be enough.

Kierisen knelt on the hard stone, rolling the ivory handle of the scourge in her fingers. The thongs were bloody, but her back did not carry a single wound. The dark-armored hypocrite had healed her, interrupted her communion with She who Suffers. Her crooked smile twisted into a sneer.
Hypocrite! She thought, he told that rainbow colored jester that each person's truth is their own. That what is true for one may not be true for another, then he lectures me about my Mistress being a lie?! The pathetic sod is too ashamed to even bear his scars with pride, hiding the art that is his body like a simpering child. He can't even accept himself, and he lectures me!?
She rested her head on the bed, taking deep breaths to steel herself for what was to come. And that Ana, self-righteous bitch. Who is she to tell me that my love is wrong? Because she believes her faith is better? Arrogant...judgmental. All so judgmental.
The scarred and broken woman rose up on her knees, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. The thongs hiss through the air, coming down hard on her flesh.
"I am proud to bear your marks my Mistress, not ashamed!"
She changes direction, bringing the lash against the other side, the hooks catching in her skin.
"I offer myself to your judgement, for my failure."
The scourge comes down again, I love her, but she doesn't understand. She doesn't love me.
She cries out, part scream, part moan of pleasure, "I knew love, that which I may not have without the pain of loss. I now know loss. Is it enough my Mistress?"
The thong hisses again, cutting bloody tracks in her back and shoulders.
"The challenge was too great, the fall too hard. If you spare me, Mistress, I will not fail you again. I will bring another to know your love, the truth as we know it."
She continues until the world spins into darkness, muttering prayers the entire time. She goes further than she's ever gone, striking herself until she blacks out, falling forward against the bed. She lays there, bleeding freely from her sundered back. Like many before her she has committed herself to her Mistress' mercy. She will either awake from this, or pass forever into the darkness. It is all now in the hands of Loviatar.

Kierisen sat upon the bed in her new room, having decided the last was unfit for her and her new protege. That protege, the ignorant and unimaginative slave, lies on the bed, curled in a little ball. The petite, pink-haired hin was so innocent, untouched in every way. Truly a blessing from She Who Suffers.
The two had just finished the initial ritual in Kierisen's order, marking Lily as Kierisen's apprentice, property, and dependent. Most call it slavery, but that word hardly begins to encompass the entirety of the relationship. Kierisen was devoted to protecting the hin, providing for her, teaching her, and guiding her down the path of enlightenment. She would defend Lily with her very life if it were required. Giving Lily the rings was as much a commitment from Kierisen as it was from Lily. The dark-haired woman rested on her side, her head resting on her hand with her elbow planted on the bed. She was absently stroking Lily's hair, and looking down at the sleeping hin. She could see the glint of the silver rings that newly graced the halfling's chest.
She felt a sense of caring, some might call it maternal instinct, but most would call that crazy. It wasn't caring for the little hurts that she had given the hin, for the fact that she had purchased her, or that she would bring more pain to the hin. Her caring was genuinely for Lily's soul, for her future, and for her welfare. Kierisen would honestly be upset if the hin were harmed by someone else, or died. When she saw the hin grabbed up by Tyria she didn't know what caused her to speak out, to offer to buy the hin, but something told her that Lily's innocence would get her killed in Sigil. Something compelled her to ask Tyria for a price and buy the hin. She was glad she did.
Now she had her first apprentice. A protege to learn the Pain Maiden's path, and to spread her truth wherever they might go. Someone to take Kierisen's knowledge, and use it to be strong. To learn control over others so that she may not be controlled. Kierisen was confident. She would not fail, she could not fail. It was as if the Maiden had delivered a test, a chance, so soon after her last failure. Lily would be her success, and the Maiden would be proud of her.

Children, Kierisen gripped the edge of the table, staring hard at the pattern carved on the top but not seeing it. Alista had not known, it was as if the tiefling had punched her in the mouth. Alista had only been joking, making light of a situation she did not feel comfortable with maybe. That knowledge did not stop Kierisen from being reminded that she would never have children.
Kierisen had been irreversibly hurt by the actions of the men she has sold herself to, when she was younger. Her reproductive system bruised and battered, and finally broken. No one had known until she was older, and an inspection at the Temple of the Maiden of Pain had revealed her injuries. At the time she had acted as if it were a blessing, unable to bear tainted fruit from the work she was to do. No male would be able to perform that ultimate act of possession and contaminate her with his child. When she was alone, however, she could not deny the pain that took hold deep inside. The realization that when she was gone to the Maiden's embrace, there would be no part of herself left in the world.
Now, in their apartment in Sigil, Kierisen wept. She tried to remain silent, to not disturb Lily, sleeping at the other end of the suite. Kierisen repeatedly punched her leg, directly on a nerve cluster between muscle and bone. This torment must not be wasted, she thought, heightening her grief with pain. She would continue until she could cry no more before returning to bed to wrap herself protectively around the petite hin.

Having finished her devotions, Kierisen was tending her recent injuries, thinking on recent events. Lily was coming along, beyond Kierisen's wildest dreams. The him woman had learned much, and was probably going to be advanced again under Kierisen's tutelage. It was nearly time to teach the petite woman about the proper, and controlled delivery of pain.
A new prospect had also shown up in Sigil, a friend of Ana's, in a sense. Someone from the drow's past, a chance for Kierisen to cause Ana more suffering? Perhaps. This one would be a challenge, but Kierisen had found the cracks in her armor. Wisp, she called herself, and it was fitting. The little drow was a lovely wisp of an elf, her eyes and face trying to be so kind. Honestly believing that she had beaten her nature, and was now walking the path of the righteous. How Kierisen reveled in luring people off of that path, to walk the shadowy trails of truth. Her path was so much easier. Why beat one's head against the wall of madness to only maintain balance? Evil, darkness, suffering, and cruelty will always be. Why not accept that, and chose the easy path? Live as you want, love as you want, and to hell with those that offer slavery in disguise.
That's all it is. Slavery. At least my Mistress is honest with what she expects of me. Total devotion, embracing suffering, pain and loss, reveling in pleasure, and we will receive our reward. She does not mask this by calling it anything other than what it is. These self-righteous berks, claiming to be doing it for the good of others, just hoping to do enough to get into their own version of heaven. They are slaves, and refuse to admit it. Their Gods act as if they care, as if they cherish each and every one of them. They cherish the power. Our patrons gain power by having followers. At least my Mistress makes that clear. I am to bring more followers to her, so that she may become more powerful. Eilistraee and her ilk would have us believe it's to save souls. Power, it's all about power.
All of these thoughts tumbled through Kierisen's mind as she carefully cleaned the gouges and cuts on her back, turning the bathwater red around her. She didn't notice, didn't care. She had a net to weave, and a lovely little wisp to catch.

Hypocrites, even this plane is full of them. People who don't understand what is going on, seek to put their noses in and force someone to live their way. They think Lily is a slave, though she would tell them differently. Is a slave free to leave whenever they wish? Yet, these goodly berks seek to try and force me to live a certain way, a way that they approve of. Which is more akin to slavery?
These thoughts tumbled in Kiera's mind as she worked out how to handle current situations. Lily had been gifted with her second set of rings, now a Sister in Torment. The hin woman had again pledged to stay with Kierisen, to not leave her. It had made Kiera happier than she had been in quite a long time. Kierisen was still pissed that Phantom had interrupted their session. People could be so rude.
On top of all of that Kierisen had to think of what to do with Salhistra and Tyria. If there was no warrant issued, she would have to find them in the planes sometime soon, and kill both of them. There would be no mercy for those two, for what they have tried to do. Kierisen could not afford mercy. Phantom seems to think that the two can't be contained or imprisoned, so the city's law enforcement might be useless in this. Kierisen would have to be prepared to adapt. She smiled to herself as the thought of peeling the skin from Salhistra's face flashed through her mind.

Kierisen checks her gear on the last morning of her trek that will end with a return to a city she thought she'd never see again. She'd lost some time, and a lot of memories since she disappeared, and had only pieced together a little of what happened. She'd found out that a body had been left, or evidence of her death, she wasn't sure which. She'd been captured and held somewhere, but the days and years blurred into one long sensory experience.
She had no idea why she was released, nor who had kept her in the first place. In her bag, her leathers, tools, and ornate wooden box were there. Inside the box, an ivory handled scourge, and a lock of pink hair. Her old armor and weapons were taken care of, and now protected her on her trip.
Kierisen picked up her shield and shouldered her pack, and started out on the last leg of the trip. She'd soon be drinking whiskey in the bazaar, and looking for a new apprentice to help pass the time while she looked into her kidnapping and imprisonment.

On her first morning back in the city Kierisen has a long list of tasks that she goes about with efficient determination. She first stops at the inn to secure a room, and spends an hour in the tub trying to wash away years worth of troubling thoughts. Once clean she repairs and cleans her armor and leathers, making sure all is as it should be, befitting a pain maiden of standing.
Once herself and her gear is presentable she heads to the prison to present herself to the order and request a return to duty. She's unfamiliar with regulations regarding disappearance from duty, but has always been one to keep her word and had pledged herself to the order of Mercy Killers so feels compelled to at least offer her services again should they accept.
Finally, that done she starts to wander the city, trying to piece together her final hours all those years ago. She can't remember exactly when it was that she was taken, and the hours leading up to it are hazy, but she hopes that something will trigger a clue, or a flash of an image. While doing this she also keeps her eyes open for a potential candidate, an untouched canvas in need of guidance, for what is a pain maiden without a student to learn the craft?
((To any DM interested: If the idea of Kierisen's missing years and the mystery of her kidnapping interests you by all means run with it. If not I will just pursue it for awhile as a dead-end mystery. I've left it fairly wide open, and certainly won't make much of it on my own. All Kiera knows is that she was taken, and held captive somewhere. They left behind evidence of her death, her protege Lily mentions Kiera's death in her journal. She knows her captor (not necessarily the kidnapper) was most likely male by the sound of his voice, and his 'presence' seemed larger than normal so she doesn't think it was a human, elf, dwarf, etc. During her time she was mentally tortured, but not physically touched, and finally released without an explanation. She was kept in a dark cell somewhere the temperature remained constantly cool so she thinks underground. She barely saw her captor, mostly just a shadowy shape in the dark. She was fed and kept healthy physically, though her mental state is a bit more fragile at times now. I am open to anything.))

((just a heads up, two DMs have already hit me up with interest. First off, wow, thanks for the interest and it's cool to know people are reading these still. Second, I would never turn down any interest in my PC from the DM staff, but want to put out there that Midnight would probably be the main person to contact now with ideas, questions, tips or what have you when it comes specifically to this kidnapping mystery. Anything else you want to throw at my PC specifically, bring it ;) she's a glutton for punishment...literally! Thanks again, I've only been logged into the server for about 30 minutes this morning and the welcome back is already fantastic. I am humbled and most appreciative.))
