Dusk was falling gently upon the streets of the bazaar. Bazaar Guard Captain Lane strode down an alleyway after hearing a noise of interest. Despite his numerous years of experience in the bazaar, he wasn't familiar with these particular alleys. The territory was not oft-traveled, and it didn't help that the Dabus shifted the landscape every-so-often to fit Her Dread Majesty's design. As officer Lane's metallic boots carried him quickly into the alley, all he saw was emptiness. The paladin steeled himself, for he fully expected a lurker to strike from an unexpected angle. Tired and at the tail-end of an almost 15 hour shift, Colo Lane was not at his sharpest as he nervously glanced about.

The Sigilian eve was humid today, and beads of sweat speckled his pale forehead as his dark brown eyes scanned the seemingly deserted alley. He absently moved the back of his gauntleted-forearm across his face, and the sweat beads coalesced into drops that trickled to the ground.

That was all it took.

A loud, crackling sound emerged and the hard ground immediately became soft and malleable like quicksand. 1 second later, it became even less viscous.. like ooze. Of course.. Colo Lane grunted in shock and dismay as it dawned upon him that he must have inadvertently opened up a portal... likely into the Para-elemental Plane of Ooze- as judged by the texture of the ground which now threatened to swallow him.

He struggled with three free limbs, and shrieked in surprise as the fourth -his left leg- was dragged down into the depths of the portal (and now starting to suck the remainder of his form within the nebulous depths). Years of focus and determination kept him from being sucked into the ground-level portal, and he struggled to stay out. His strength could only get him so far, and he now seemed to be in a stalemate with the portal - his palms were bent into a clawed position as he desperately dug into hard-ground, attempting to move away.

The vulnerable man looked towards the entrance of the alley to see if anyone would happen by.

((Here is how the game will work: Any interested in being involved should post their interest here - it would be nice to have a pool to choose from that included members of the Triad, members of the Revolution, and random Cagers . After a few days and once people have posted, I will roll a die in game twice to determine which *2* players will be involved. Player 1 will be the first one to act, and Player 2 will be the second one to act- exactly 2 minutes after Player 1.

You can take any IC action you wish.

Player 1 will more likely be the one acting and influencing the fate of Colo Lane - unless s/he chooses to ignore him - while Player 2 will be the one reacting to Player 1's action. IF Player 1 is still present when Player 2 arrives and they take conflicting actions- then I will moderate here. I will only reveal the identity of Player 1 to the public. Player 2 will make him/herself known when posting the reaction - so it will be a surprise to Player 1))

((Okay, so for possibilities I currently have

1 Liccia
2 Montacca
3 Miranda illdesserin
4 Mustafa
5 UranÂ’sel Dystaer
6 Caterina
7 Verdant

I'll add a dummy slot and roll 1d8 in game twice

Anyone else want to throw their hat in the ring? I'll wait 1 more day, then roll in game and post the screenies here))

///Mustafa (4) goes first, Liccia (1) emotes 2 minutes afterwards. The second roll was a mistake, and the third roll was an 8 which is a dummy spot so I rerolled. I have deleted previous posts to clean up the thread. Agony, if you'd rather not have Mustafa be involved then I'll reroll for Player 1.

Licca was on her way back to her rooms in the inn. She had a nice dinner with her sister Lucia in the Festhall, but she had to leave early after a Harmonium messenger found her sister and asked her to return to the Barracks for an emergency.

It also happened that she was lost. The dabus had recently redid this particular area of the bazaar, and Licca is now going the wrong way. She stumbles down the alleyway where Colo Lane was struggling against the goopy portal, sees what's happening... and all of a sudden mental blocks were being undone in her mind as more of her suppressed memories were unblocked.

She screams, falls to the ground holding her head, and appears to be dazed, but she then somehow returns to normal and mutters something in her native language. The next thing she does is she sings a lullaby with arcane undertones, and all of a sudden both she and Colo Lane have extra reserves of strength.

/// I'll go ahead and start out with that. Basically, I'm using this to unlock a little bit more of Licca's backstory, as certain triggers cause Licca's suppressed memories to become unlocked. Licca's native language is unknown to anyone not from her home prime, and what she said before casting the spell was, "I'm going to regret doing this..." Licca cast Mass Bull's Strength in the area in the hope that it would give Colo a better chance of getting out. Based on what happens next, Licca has a few choices on what to do.

Lane's eyes widen with surprise as well as relief as the newcomer enters the alleyway. He tries to call out, tries to voice an intelligible word but only a breathy groan emerges from his mouth - betraying his exhaustion. This changes quite quickly as soon as the spell is cast. With newfound supernatural strength, the Measure hoists himself up with greater vigor - more successfully resisting the pull of the portal. His clawed-fingers now demonstrate greater traction with the ground and he digs deep.

It's still not enough. The pull of the portal remains and the Measure is dragged down, albeit at a slower pace. The portal has engulfed most of his thigh at this point, and it's in danger of reaching his nethers. He will definitely require her help to extract himself from the ravenous ooze.

As Licca sees that Colo's strength won't be enough, she kicks her sandals off, and braces her feet against the walls of the alleyway. While doing so, her dress is torn, leaving her barely decently covered.

She grabs the leg that is being sucked into the portal, and begins to pull.

/// I did a Strength roll for Licca just in case it's needed.

///I rolled a 3 in game, so Miranda illdesserin is the next one to act, and she arrives right as Liccia begins to pull Lane's leg.
