The golem arrived in its' cluttered home and set down a newly acquired blade, a Mechanus Blade, and began to study it. Casting aside the chunks of metal on the workbench, Tek sets the blade on top of it, taking particular interest in the socket at the hilt. It must in some way contain the key that it is missing in creating a proper clockwork construct, one more capable than a simple wind up toy. . .

A few months have gone by since Tek seemingly disappeared, or at least it feels that way to the industrious construct. Non-stop Tek has worked, making all the gears, springs, cogs, and plating. Non-stop the golem has worked, fitting seemingly impossibly small pieces together in a perfectly mazelike configuration. Non-stop, for the slightest break could distract it's concentration and cause irreparable damage to the masterpiece the golem is creating, the product of it's so called lifes work.
But now it all pays off. Tek delicately grabs one of the two fist sized crystal orbs out from a padded case and installs it into the chest cavity of the orc sized construct, a large Mechanus Blade firmly attached to the arm of it. Once it is firmly in its place Tek wraps a few copper wires to various parts of the constructs interior workings, one to each arm and leg, and one to the head.
A perfect fit. Tek thinks to itself before taking up one last plating, working with renewed purpose to bolt it in its place. Tek then looks blankly over to the case where the other crystal sits and slowly walks over, were someone to have observed they might say almost nervously, and takes the crystal in its hands.
Now the final test. Tek speaks aloud this time before willing a command into the sphere. Immediately a grinding, whirring sound comes from Tek's creation, and a flash of purple light burns forth from where its eyes would be.

This was perhaps the longest month yet. Tek could tell its creation was working, but the act of commands proved to be difficult. Through the command sphere it could now control it, yes but it took much of the month to figure out how to do so without causing himself to move similarly, or crash into various things, many of them delicate devices and traps. Another problem proved to be maintenance. The workings of the clockwork powered construct were fairly delicate and required semi-frequent tuneups. Such a creation is very interesting and intimidating in appearance, but entirely useless for combat.
Even still Tek was satisfied.
