John and Ben are not sat in the inn long before Norman joins them. However after half an hour Thist has still not joined them.

"There was a smith. Xolith the black, he was a Yugloth but a full blooded fiend. He was an expert with it. I heard the red death got him. Other than him you would have to speak to the godsman or the sinkers to find sokeone to work that."

"Ah.... so my note found you.", Norman says instead of a greeting, showing an awkward smile.

"I talked to Minerva and... someone of them bought a Scroll of Magic Jar."

He pauses, waiting for a reaction as it seems he has no idea what this spell does.

"Also got an address in the Hive.. found the house but it looks not very inviting. 14th Bariaur End in the Hive ward." Looking around he realizes somebody is still missing.

"Where is Thist?"

"Damn. Thank you my dear.." He goes outside the establishment and once he rounds the corner he casts another invisibility spell on himself and goes to the meet the others at the rendezvous point.

John looks up from his plate of beef and bread and smiles as Norman walks in. He continues to eat while Norman tells his part of the tale, nodding between bites of food. His face would be as blank as NormanÂ’s when the topic of Magic Jar was brought up. Spellcraft not being a big part of his life.

Once finished eating, he shares what occurred with the Yaun-ti, the inn, the sphere taken from the bathroom (most likely the key) and where the portal is. He assures Norman that they were not spotted while trailing his target.

He would nod towards Thist as he entered the tavern (he would always keep the entrance/exit in sight as a matter of professional habitÂ… his back never turned to it unless intentionally).

Ben would probably be snoozing under the table after being fed.

Having a meal himself he listens to John the news about the key and portal interesting him.

When Thist arrives he greets him then shares what he found out with him as well- hoping he knows something about this odd sounding spell.

After fifteen minutes of talking Thist finally joins the group. He orders a plate and makes a remark about his dwindling gold reserves. Once the food arrives and he eats a few bites, he tells the others about the information he gained, he emphasizes that he was held up by some thugs in the sewers too.

A firm pat on the shoulder is given by the old soldier.

"It's just coins, lad... the fewer ye have, the harder you're willing to work for more, hm?"

A chuckle is given as he takes a drink from his mug.

"If it'll ease your mind... I'll cover you for this meal. I won't, however, cover the cost of inattentive walking in dark areas. You'll just have to chalk it up as the cost of a valuable lesson."

He looks at Norman

"So... what now, Chaplain?"

He moves around the bits and pieces of his meal with on his plate as always more listening than speaking himself and it seems eating is for him a necessity but not something he really enjoys.

At John's words he looks up.

"I think we need to know what this 'Magic Jar' spell is. Do you perhaps know, Thist? I fear it is none of the blessings I was taught about during my training nor one of the combat magics I encountered on the battlefield so far.

It sounds rather harmless... perhaps it is just an enchantment for a vessel to keep Beer cool.. but you never know.

I also suggest we find out about the key and visit the house in the Hive.. but we should go there together. I think."

He takes a sip from his drink- just water with a bit of lemon juice in it- and thinks then looks at John.
"You have.. good relationships with the judges.. guvners? Perhaps you can find out about the nature of that key?

But perhaps some rest first. I also can offer to fill your waterskins as I have not yet spent my Create Water spell. It is clean as water from a spring... better than anything found here. I think."

“Good relations with the lawyers and judges?” He chuckled. “Well… I haven’t been sent to the Stockade in the last few months if that’s what ya mean. No, lad… I haven’t any relations within those halls.”

He tosses his water skins onto the table

“Have at ‘er, Chaplain. Much appreciated”

"I hoped your good standing with the clerk might be useful. " He looks up at John. "Of us three I think you are the one who would get a permission or appointment to see a Guvner most quickly."

He takes up the waterskins then walks over to the kitchen, asking to be allowed to use one of their larger pots and a small handled one. If he gets the permission he would cast his spell, then start to fill the skins.

((Spell cast: Create Water, 3rd caster level for 6 gallons of water ))
