Eh, quite frankly, the only real toon I played on here was Davoren Hellsheart, aka Obannon Shadowflare after having to fake his death. At level 29 I got pwned by a guy 7 levels under me. So I know that if this fight goes on, I would not survive. So i said screw it, Davoren is retiring somewhere to some beach-front property in Krynn somewhere, and telling Sigil to go to hell. xP
he just pissed off too many people on both sides, and now he's just saying "well, Sigil is boned....screw 'em."
So I'm taking him back to level 1. Trying out a crazy new monk build, just for kicks and giggles. But yeah, Davo won't be anywhere near Sigil until all this craziness dies down. He'll probably just be grinding the Beastlands, or eventually the Abyss. Chances are....it's safer. haha. :P

That's all very nice and well for players who've played aons and know their stuff mechanically or otherwise, those that are lowbie, level and playerwise, want the learning, not the risk of losing all. Now that makes mine non'epic' storywise or champions or heros, its true, but I try to make my chars realistic too. Some would die for belief, some would try to save all, but no, not for the players lack of ability would I wish to risk my longterm concepts lost for such an event.
Yet still do I wish for those that can, a fun time :) maybe one day I'll feel confident enough in this bloody game to take that risk. Perhaps my style is different is all, as is what is required for this event.
If it goes more this direction, in future on this server, I'll be playing less is all. Please bring balance to play with other events after this is my request. If that makes me a wuss, so be it, never said I played to be a hero, I play to live a character.
:) happy gaming all.

Dude if it's not the DM plot for you then it's not the DM plot for you. A DM has to run what he enjoys doing and there appears to be no restriction who can and cannot join in.
There is also no obligation so if you don't enjoy something, don't be a part of it. There is no need to get emotional.
This plot has kept a good part of the server happy and busy to date. Give Duke a break, he's doing a grand job and a huge amount of work. Any arsyness is likely a result of heavy PM spamming and winging and nagging by players with a 1000 different wants

The time choices for major events should be more favorable for the majority of the player body. Since most of the players on here are Euro I would expect things set earlier in the day moreso rather than later in the day.
You're excluding so many players by doing that because frankly I wouldn't stay up half the damn night only to be dead on my feet the next day. Some people actually do work on sundays too just so ya know.
As for getting your character involved versus those who managed to icly avoid taking part in the battle. We did so to just wash our hands of it. I wouldn't say a good part of the server has been involved with this either. We have lost players in the last month and a half that specifically named that they were being excluded as the reasons for leaving.
I dunno about you but I don't like watching good players go.

So you're saying that DM's shouldn't do long (several week) events if it doesn't involve the whole server? Please... that's rather petty. Sometimes events involve specific players, sometimes they don't. Duke has done a commendable job on this. I was offered an integral part at one point.. I turned it down because it wasn't my characters style... but I still joined the final event for fun.
DM's are here to aid in story telling and world immersion. They aren't here to pander to every player who demands it. If you're not part of this even maybe you'll be part of the next... or the one after that. Don't expect DM's to make a list of all server participants and ensure all listed are involved...
Bottome line... they're players too. They're here to have fun and don't get paid to facilitate you're play time. Cut them some slack and roll with it. Don't complain because some folks just weren't involved as much as others...

This same thing happened to me and it still happens. I'm still waiting on that Mercykiller and Alchemical silver and cold iron thing. Oh well, if it happens it happens. But at least i'm trying.
But damnit, at least he's trying.. something! I will tell you that he has involved some people, including me, that has gotten absolutely no kind of DM attention (. And when i say no kind of DM interaction.. I mean no kind of dm interaction.
Have you or any of those people contacted Duke to work your own angle on this however? Sometimes (I speak as a DM that has lead MANY plots involving 10+ ppl) you skip over people, due to the fact your trying to juggle multi angles.. And that's what i think happened in this case.
This shadowsworn thing is something he cooked up, got everyone involved in and Duck that.. He even stayed up late! That guy is workin on +5hrs our time. Have you stayed up till 7AM in the morning to dm for some folks? It's draining man.
Everyone isn't going to be happy. And when i checked Dar is about as moody as it comes. I thought he didn't want to be in on this for his own reasons. Hell, have you tried to get in on it? Your always chillin with Lyra (my girl), I got the impression you didn't want to get in on it.. and that was from the start. Any of those folks that left for that matter.. Have they actually TRIED to get in on it or was just waiting for someone to invite them in? Because if you waiting to get invited in by a pc.. Do what i do and go grind it out homey..

Well.. I've been excluded from events myself. Hell, damn near everyone has. But just because you feel left out of this one doesn't mean your gonna be leftout of them all.Light,Dec 19 2010 wrote: The time choices for major events should be more favorable for the majority of the player body. What's with all the drama? The event was awesome, and the one character that got perma-killed actually chose to get perma-killed. Kinda makes all this nastiness and airing of dirty laundry pointless. *Shows his inner bleaker*
Edit: Just as a nice little reminder... If you're growing to threaten to leave, you should probably just leave. :)
