A Chronicle of Jack Brasky, hunter and outdoorsman.

- No companions for the hunt today, save Bruce. No matter. I know the shifting plane of Limbo well.
Limbo
- The wieght of my pack, and Bruce enjoying a creature's liver, means its time to stop for lunch. Found a few gems, and a blade that should return some good jink at market.
Not Limbo
- The air is different, there is not the usual light. The ground is all wrong. My loyal raptor is not here. I had been headed back to the door. I took a leap that should land me near Limbo's portal. A brown and black twisting dust devil formed as I was about to land. I passed though the heart of it and when it cleared, I was here. The sky black, filled with the tails of falling and shooting stars. Now and then, the explosion of one of those falling stars illuminates the terrain like a lightning flash. The ground is barren, dust and rock. Precarious towers and plinths of stone are visible in every direction. Mounds of stone or earth are likely the cairns of past formations. There were clacking sounds from one direction, and I could see one mound in another direction that seemed to be writhing. I made the clacking sound and writhing mound the base of a triangle and headed for the pinnacle.
- I observed from behind a pillar of stone. The mound produced a worm, larger than a python, it moved towards the route I took. It had not gone far before a horse-sized beetle came in view. The beetle charged the worm and bit eagerly into it. The worm contracted, slapped the beetle and knocked it over. The battle was on. The worm's strength prevailed over the beetle, but victory was short for the worm as two more beetles arrived. The worm and one more beetle fell. I put two arrows in the victor and moved on.
- I must sleep now, I have sat on this rock for an hour with no sign of beasts. I will summon a badger to stand watch for the first bit of my sleep.
Not Limbo 11 sleeps
- This 'forest' of rock seems endless. It is hard to navigate with no sun, no moon, no fixed stars. I have not found water, this place is dust dry. I have run out of water and drank most of my potions, simply for the moisture. In addition to worms and beetles, I have encountered slimes. The slimes are slow moving and easily avoided, but they are silent and have surprised me as I slept twice now.
- I have butchered a beetle, they are not simply large insects. They are mostly chitin and stomach. The rest of the thorax is full of rocks, which brings a gizzard to mind. This perplexes me greatly. The worms are more complex inside. But also more stone than flesh. No part of the beetle or worm is good to eat, I have ran many trials, and had to use natures power to neutralize poison every time.
Not Limbo 13 sleeps
- I have oriented my direction of travel by following the tail of a slow falling star. At least I know I will not be going in circles. Before my last sleep I laid and arrow in the direction of the tail, and when I woke I picked another slow falling star that moved in the direction of the arrow.
18 sleeps
- The weakness of hunger matters less right now than the dehydration. I used my last potion today. I have been looking upon my summoned guards as a wolf does sheep. Besides the offence against nature and the gods it would be to kill and eat one, there is the fact that killing one would return it to it's home plane.
19 sleeps
- I woke to find a ruins where a mound of stone once was. It is more the decayed bones of a ruins. There are no standing walls, just a jumble of stones to closely square to be 'natural'. Time has polished all evidence of tool work or engraving from the stones. I searched it and found nothing of value. There was a stone trough that I could smell moisture in, like it had actually held water at some time. I cursed the powers for torturing me with hope.

-life measured in breaths steps stiff slow like an ancient man found the bones of a long dead humanoid there was a flask half full of spirits it burned going down and I nearly drowned myself in my haste
- I am on a high plain or enormous plateau it raised slowly from the stone forest I spent many arrows stopping a large pack of the beetles that followed me onto the plain from the forest
-was about to take rest when I heard them coming I brought two arrows to string and waited for a falling star's death to show them after the flash I loosed drew loosed drew loosed I waited arrows a string for them to come close enough to discern their deeper black silhouette against the black terrain then it was two more volleys before I dropped bow and drew sword I left my shield where it lay, not having the strength to wield both sword and shield now
-I trekked on after the battle made camp after I put one thousand steps between me and the husks of the beetles there is no cover, this 'camp' is just where my count reached a thousand time to summon another badger to give me the illusion of security while I fall asleep
a month
