Other info
Grahf respects strength and money. He's not greedy but he doesn't usually do anything without some promise of reward. Even if the reward is just getting to keep whatever he finds on the way to the client's goal.

He recently got a crash course on the planes from a client and was asked to find portals and catalog their location, destination, and key.

Story thus far...
Grahf does not remember his parents or anything significant from his past. His earliest happy memory is shoving a sword through a drunken sailor that thought he'd be an easy target for the slobs frustrations. After that incident (more accurately, after he the authorities released him from custody) he was approached by a mercenary woman who had seen him stand up to the drunkard and thought he had potential. She offered him training and a job with her mercenary group and he accepted.

The years that followed were very profitable for Grahf and the group. Until a year ago when they took a job from a mage. The mage wanted them to retrieve some ingredients for a potion he was making. The main one being shadow stuff from a nightstalker. They agreed and the mage opened a portal to the plane of shadow.

Once there it took them several days to find the creature they were looking for. By that time the effects of the plane had taken a toll on many of the mercenaries and they were ill-prepared for the creature.

During the battle many of his companions fled leaving him and the leader of the group to battle the hulking shadowy beast. At some point it grabbed Grahf and used him like a club to attack the mercenary leader.

After the first few times the creature smashed him into the ground he blacked out. When he came to he found he was alone and still on the plane of shadow. He wandered for an unknown amount of time before he stumbled upon a portal that ejected him into the astral plane.

He floated there for a long time before another portal floated toward him. Unable to avoid it, the portal engulfed him and he was deposited in a warehouse in Sigil.

Since then he has been doing odd jobs and hasn't seriously attempted to get back home. He doesn't know if anyone else survived the encounter with the nightstalker but seriously doubts it so he doesn't have much motivation for going home. Besides there's plenty of "jink" to be made so who really cares?

Oh, forgot the eye story...

The Eye
Grahf took a job from a devil to deliver some items to an alter in Mercuria. Seemed an easy enough job so he headed to the portal and stepped through to Mount Celestia. Not long afterward he found himself in one heated battle after another with paladins and other powerful defenders. Never one to back down from a fight, he kept plodding along fighting all comers.

In one battle he was sorely out numbered and over powered. He took a sword to the face before blacking out and waking up on a slab in the Mortuary. The paladins had apparently thrown his body back through the portal after the battle.

He isn't really sure whether or not he actually died back in Mercuria. All he knows is when he woke up he was missing an eye which has given him a grudge against paladins in general but mostly Mercurians.

The loss of depth perception has had it's drawbacks but he has quickly adjusted his fighting style to compensate. It helps that his style is generally "Whack things with a giant sword"...
