"I saw Danielle of the Visions but for brief time in the market having managed to slip out again from the grove, not nearly enough time to converse and catch up...and in the market, she is always at her busiest. Still, a blade of the exotic was passed to me, not something I can use easily but the enchants it holds appeal to me, I wonder what manner of beast is linked to it...if I can just find the key that will open and allow me to use of it without having to actually 'wield' it as weapon of metal, I shall be happier."
"Pack met pack...I introduced Danielle to Graawl, only to tell him of her being member of Isolf's 'pack' there was no point in attempting to explain 'that' relationship to him, the gnoll barely understands numbers and their importance, a lack that the knight of the arcane helped to explain in simple terms that Graawl could understand. Balance was maintained once more with the gnoll and the fey'ri by exchange of snake skin, gold, gem and essence in exchange for improvements upon belt and amulet, more gold for a new snake skin vorpal satchel of the highest quality for Graawl as I saw him using a lesser one. I also swapped a heavy blade I had found to the gnoll's pack in exchange for use of a crossbow....something I'm going to try out...though I find it a little large and unwieldy compared to the wooden staff, fist or sling, no harm to try, tis wooden for the most part."
"The fireside grove meeting of four was interrupted with the arrival of Hildmor of the Hat and a sidekick, one I've seen about town, with winged devil in tow. Knowing now a bit of their ilk and what they are capable of, this did not bode well. Graawl left to guard the grove while Tilee, Drakos and I listened to offer of aid for a price. Such a price was deemed unacceptable by all three...truly I do not understand the nature of these Seelie or their counterparts that would deem this small piece of land a place of war. To what end does it serve? It seems like a fight is inevitable to defend a small and sacred area of what is supposed to be free and natural, neutral place of peace."
"I slipped out again to make new effort to help Gluboiy to rally more willing to help and remained as sow to give message to two, herd them to place where I could reform and talk. By the Shalm...while I do what must be done...your tasks prove hard at times, they have courage these two, honour. I took the mirror after puzzling over its function and now have the means to call upon the knight who will gather the other and ...maybe more. I couldn't ask for better friends, save those of the pack."
"Aye Drakos, for all your arrogance, I will defend your dream...for it is my dream, my way forward, my only way...on this we work as one. Without this grove thriving with members and Circle, I stand no chance on my own..."

"Noise within the dragon cave suggests Drakos has found companion, family or mate if the sounds are anything to go by. Damn...and yet good. This changes things a bit however. I would not get in the way of true mate, nor do I wish to face wrath of jealous dragon and I am not that sneaky. I shall have to think of other means of persuasion. Was never certain my charm would work on beast of dragon anyway."
"I take a few hours out from the grove here and there, slipping out avoiding fey scouts and camps by taking shape of snake, wolf, boar, tree, anything that I have mastered well to get supply, rally and gain news from within the city. I occasionally catch sight of the dragon flying overhead or the occasional fresh elven track and scent but I never seem to sight Gluboiy of the Small Bear..he is 'that' skillful to hide."
"I have used the crossbow now once or twice and find it slow and unwieldy. I am thinking to return it to Graawl for pack use. I still prefer the simple sling I brought with me from the Outlands and with exchange of powerful essence I made arrangment with Shand of the Green to bring elemental power to that simple weapon. Aeron of Beregost was helpful in trading gem for gem of the right calibre to enable this enchant..as well as providing me with a simply enchanted shamanic stave that might be useful."
"Shand...holds secrets...as he was experiementing with some pyramid shaped device on the city workbenches I noted something, which he quickly covered again. Aye...holding secrets goes both ways between thee and I Shand of the Green, though warning I was given of something about you noticed, from one I begin to trust. I need you. He will keep an out and watch over even if you do not like it. I hope the knight of the arcane manages to do this...discretely. Their natures differ alot and both now will provide their aid to the sacred grove, allowing me to call upon them by mirror or spell-whisper."
"Upon hearing tale from two new faces to the city, Nimue and Demn, of a great stirring of 'ratling' and spider beast together with a finding of baatzu sword had me lending the last hour before I returned to take up guard at the grove in aid to investigate. However, nothing was much untoward than the usual level of beast. I had thought that the orc clan might be involved to cause more unrest below. But there was nothing discernable."
"Of personal note, I stupidly attempted shift to one of the ratlings while down there. Against all wisdom and timely calm manner, I took it upon myself to transform while their bodies lay about, the scent in my nostrils. Easier that way. But I was not quite out of range from one seeing the shift, the others naturally moved to attack thinking me one of the beasts of the lairs to that tunnel. Distracted by more attacking, I slipped round corner and out of sight again. The shape was mutated and malformed, I couldn't focus well enough to form it properly. I have taken finger from one of the corpses to consume in ritual later to see if I can improve on it. Graawl, I am sure would laugh like hyena seeing me do that, taking a finger 'trophy'."

"The knight of the arcane found the key I was after to unlock the magic in the katana Danielle gave to me. The key was to be found in a pair of enchanted gloves. Either he will craft or trade a set to get me a spare of the ones he showed. An endless sling of fire bullets with simple enchant did he also find, trading for small pouch of gold. This too I can improve upon with his help and craft."
"There was a balance of give and take. We each took a step towards a sharing of secrets of our personal quests. He will hunt for the second 'item' for me, now I have measure of the first from Shand of Green. I thought, being knight, he would have better recourse and knowledge of what I seek, to find suitable creature, if not the whyfore."
"It is more than a similarity of thinking. I find it odd that his words could be mine. Freedom must be. Would he too go as far?...To cause a friend's death to secure the freedom of a loved one? His hunt, those keys, locks and conduits...while not infinite, the tools of which might very well be found as the items I seek I hope will be...it is the target of his quest, his desire that I believe is infinite. And that that makes it more perilous and impossible than mine own."
"Two books. The essence of our quests and why we do what we do and who we are. Nay...there is no choice when bound we are."
"The gods play games and will be difficult to appease and persuade. The subject of his oath far far worse."

"Hateful man. More arrogant than the dragon and that is saying something"
"I could feel Graawl wishing to rip his throat out for his insulting tone to me, the growl was forming in my own throat but I held it back, remained calm outwardly. Men of his type bring the animal out in me...I am no diplomat in city politics and negotiations...the dragon can deal with him. Graawl held back from so doing barely by a look from me..."
"Rumour has it this Hildmor of the Hat has powerful magics...however Graawl is strong, swift, deadly...he could have torn out his vocal chords with his claw at instant before a mage would have opened lips to speak his spells...but I did not wish for violence...nor did I wish to hear more of his snide tones"
"I'm sure he will seek Drakos out in turn...let him. I have to trust Drakos will do right by the nature of the grove, one way or another"

Graawl's Everlasting Loyalty
She received the wrapped cloth parcel with a frown, opening Aeron of Beregost's latest commission given to her later when alone. It was a fine cloak indeed, with enchantments that would give glowing edge now maybe to her smirks and low toned growls. She should accept it with grace but she felt uncomfortable. Sneaky gnoll, to make the gift via a third party so she could not refuse it until she had found something of equal value to him.
His previous offering had been for pack and grove...a ring of protective dalliances that she would offer to any of the Circle to protect against the fey...this was acceptable. Two such rings of similar powers she held now for any who had need, any who protected the grove and Circle from Seelie and Unseelie wars.
She was out of balance...severely. The cloak was very fine and the essence of its meaning, his gift of everlasting loyalty was not lost on her...something she would treasure.
Axe? No...he had very fine one already that he was happy with. Armour? Perhaps...but she knew little about chain or plate to judge and assess what he wore to what he needed and in truth would rather not promote industry that takes excessively of nature's mineral resources by providing him more weaponery or metalic armours.
What did he value? He had grown so much since she had first known him when a simple cloak as blanket for his bed would please him, refinding place in pack again, enjoying of the hunt in pack number, learning of numbers...
A talk with Isolfr maybe or the knight again was in order.

''The answer of how to balance with Graawl for this gift for 'pack-leader' again eludes me. Two items suggested by the knight of the arcane I cannot afford and go against principles somewhat but....I'd not be out of balance....so gold I must find to sort a commission....unless I can think of something else that requires not of monetary payment. We shall see. As for other trades, I paid for both glove-key and another slingshot to Aeron. The first will now allow me that summon, the latter another option during hunts.''
''The plane of earth...why I continue to be drawn there...might not be obvious to many, yet I persist in study to the extent that I care not particularly who helps and joins me in it. A dark haired cold toned woman named Raven joined myself and friend Amorphis to the deepest mines. Luckily she was good with her large sword, else we would have perished far too easily. But all too soon I ran out of healing supplies and wearily we made it out after a hard hunt. ''
''Amorphis....I'm still not quite sure what to make of him. His powers seem to match those of Aeron's but he seems quieter, weaker and more vunerable, keeping to the back using staff and spell as opposed to knightly sword. Something troubles him, his way about my beasts is both nervous and curious...offer of tidbit to Domh was boisterously received... but I've not yet had the time to enquire in more private circumstance.''
''Following Drakos' words to the circle I went in search for Gluboiy of the small bear, meeting with Graawl of Deepclaw and luckily still had the company of Amorphis. I say lucky for when stumbling across the elf, colourless in grey and quite changed, I was at loss how to initially help and it was Amorphis' proposal that moved us to more suitable surrounds to deal. The elf's.. voice was different, his...her.. tone harsher, chaotic...evil at times. Gluboiy, it seemed had been taken over by some spirit. After hard chase and fight, Graawl finally managed to grapple and hold him...her... and we brought her...him...initially to quieter natural environ of Karasuthra to try a ritual of purging, use of negative energy to render him low, with measure of positive to restore and revive, burst of sun to see if the greyness surrounding him could be purged...to no avail. It was the mind troubled giving these nasty symptoms. ''
''Amorphis then proposed to bring him to the plane whence his 'infection' arose and close to the portal to the gray wastes, Aeron came upon us. As Graawl led the bitten and wounded (harsh but necessary measures as he did so struggle and the filth streaming from his mouth, it was as if the girl...lad had become harpy), still screaming elf that bore but the barest resemblance to the pink hearted fellow...girl.. I know. We made it to cave and using shadow magic and careful guise, dual play of Amorphis and Aeron, while the shadow of the elf's father guided by Aeron begged the spirit holding Gluboiy for forgiveness, Amorphis played to the elf's true nature to see past it....I still don't know quite how they managed it but....I heard the lighter, colourful tones of Gluboiy again and something was released in his mind. A deeper look to his eyes and beyond, to see the truth and I knew it then....the greyness had faded somewhat, the pink elf was returned to us.''
''Graawl released him then. I took care of the gnoll bites and the wounds I too had helped to make, tending carefully the body of him...her....regeneratively. Back in the city, Gluboiy offered thanks in way of gift. I wanted nothing but to see him back and scouting again for the grove, but when offered staff of the water element, I could not refuse...''
''Â….the connection to my brother I now have to my hands. That makes two of the four I need to make the link.''

"A meeting with Amorphis led to a sharing of a meal at the outdoor restaurant I had once been shown by another mage of the arcane. I like that place on account that the meat or fish comes raw, in good quantity, that you can cook it to your own taste upon brazier and that the surrounds are less cramped and the view within that part of the Lady's Ward less depressing than the main city."
"I took the opportunity to thank him again for his assistance in helping Gluboiy of the small bear return to his...I hesitate to say...normal...self. For I am still not sure what 'normal' is in respect of that elf...but at least he is back in sounder mind and scouting for the grove again. Amorphis had made suggestion of idea that moved us to a new plane after my own attempts had failed. And although he made mistake in casting spell upon me, toppling me as if a hand had grasped my roots and upturned me when I was mid branch-grapple of the elf to aid Graawl hold on to the slippery form, that idea and suggestion was pivotal. Amorphis would not take thanks...not after the event, nor then over dinner. Quiet one is he, not shy...exactly but definately troubled in some way..and holding on to a burden."
"So I enquired, naturally, made open question allowing a sharing, a balance of give and take, without prying...with little returned save a question of what my thoughts were upon two things....one a faction, group of odd people I came to learn of soon after arriving in the city following a visit and unfortunate venture into the grey wastes, a group to whom I hold some gratitude for prolonging my own life while here a task I must carry out, that I may bring a loved one back...to complete his cycle...and be released from infinity. The other thing...well..I now know the name but have yet to know who they are....so I could give no opinion to him. What I did find out...what he offered...was that he has lost memory and holds on to feelings that remain longer. This I can relate to more. And he spoke of an incomplete circle. I hope he completes his....for a circle might have many aspects to it, but it is something of balance."
"I saw a scar, I saw a hint of sorrow and anger but then he turned quiet and withdrawn of emotion again. Yet he is not unfriendly. Quite the puzzle. I will lead him to show him a part of the plane I belong to as I promised...the small part I can without making the full journey home..this I will not, cannot do...yet. But as for more sharing of self, we will have to see."

The bonding with the beast of the earth was an unusual one. She came across it deep to the earth plane. A wanderer, searching the minerals loosened by the terran's mining in some abandonned tunnels. The barrel shaped body, flailed its arms and legs about when she disturbed it from 'eating' or sifting through the rocky earth, filtering the chaff away from the slithers of silicates and ore that remained in those well mined routes with its broad 'mouth' of a head. It was agressive at first, protective of the patch of slag and rubble but she soothed it by offering an ingot and an obsidian.
In rough common she made connection, found it to be lone traveller far from the quasi-elemental plane of minerals, scavenging what it could from the terran miners old workings. With promise of more and easier feast to come from joining the 'pack', a sharing of natural resources on hunts through the earthen plane, the bonding was made. The Xorn joined her menagerie of beasts...she named 'it'...Grubb.

"It was a busy few hours in the bazaar. Much as I dislike that part of the city, it is the best place where trades, business and crafting is done...not to mention, it brought me closer to making the link to home without needing to spend the time to make the journey back. Mir, the beautiful red-haired tiefling whom I had met and talked about the fey affairs during the Carnival, happened to have staff of fire....the element and sign of my daughter, and knew where also a staff of air might be acquired...the sign of my grove Elder...and her father. "
"For exchange of a pair of enchanted gloves I no longer had need for plus near the rest of my gold I made trade for the staff of fire. The other staves I owned, I gave to the knight of the arcane to take and enchant over time, I would have to pay in instalment for each one, discussed in turn so that fair trade was made. This would take some time but...the acquiring the elemental staves was the more important task and priority for my purse."
"And then I was offered a job! I am hesitant to say yes and commit to too much, I've never had paid 'job' before, but...it might just get me out of this gold-flow problem I have in the city....not to mention I feel a little oblidged to return favour of information if not help to acquire the last elemental stave. Mir needs a healer for her ship...this 'spell-jammer'..a ship that sails planes. "
"I admit to being interested to see it but was concerned my beasts (for many come with me where I go) would not enjoy being couped up in small space. Not to mention that my time here is limited and a month away 'employed' might be detrimental to my purpose with the grove and all I need to achieve. Still, a week or so here, there, part time might suit and be satisfactory for us both. Not to mention, as I told her, one of my beasts makes good at vermin control should her vessel have infestation..though she assured me she runs clean ship. I will think of it and give her my answer soon....but I am thinking...positively on this."
