HISTORY
Nico knew she had a talent early on. Even as a child she could find her way in and out of places with little difficulty. Whether it was a lock, an alarm or even just a closed door, she would soon have it opened and be knee deep in whatever it had concealed. Life was hardly boring for her. She also had a number of inherent abilities that she learned early on. Most notable of them was her ability to surround herself in shadows and the ability to simply vanish if people thought they had her cornered.
The first ability was extremely useful in aiding her constant need to find out what something was hidingÂ… locks and such. She could make herself almost complete shadow and move unseen or unheard past the most alert guards. Her motherÂ’s larder, the Mayors manor or even the kings castle on occasion, simply to explore and sate her curiosity.
The second ability was most useful when the first ability failed. There was times when she would be cornered in a room, forced to hide in a closet while guards tore the place apart. A minor concentration, hands moving quickly across a wall or floor, and she would find itÂ… a portal. A quick step in and she would be whisked away to safety, simply closing it behind her. The Infinite staircase bringing her safety and security.
After a time, the tests of home became mundane and boring. The same locks with the same doors with the same guards. It was about that time she began to get the nerve to explore some of the portals she could find within the staircase. One brought her to Sigil and sheÂ’s now making it her goal to explore every nook and cranny in the entire city.
Oh, she still calls the Staircase home, a permanent place to rest her head, but the city of doorsÂ… thatÂ’s a place that will keep her busy for years.
