Historical Information
( This will be a 3rd person narrative held into a few chapters )

Chapter 1 - Origins

In the summer brisk capital of Tengai, Itsuyashi was born into a noble samurai family, that held a high position in the patriarchal feudal society of Gea. But with such a noble background, tedious & class-like studies awaited the young lad as he grew older & wiser. His father paid quite a hefty sum so Itsu can have the best education money could buy, along with personal tutors, artists & politicians, grooming him into becoming a worthy heir of their family. During his pre-teen years, he was put through intense mental stress, tackling the topics of philosophy, ethics, tactics and so on...

His mother wished him to express himself and hence the artists previously stated started arriving until he found something he fancied and was good at, and with due time, he took up a fascination with painting & playing the flute, whilst remaining loyal to calligraphy, as it was mandatory for his education to have proper hand-writing. He quite enjoyed spending time with her, asking about what she wanted to see, and then portraying them through the paintings he would make during those years, trying to perfect his art. For them, those moments were moments of bonding between them.

And as time went by, his father decided to teach him the way of the sword, and at the age of seven, Itsu first picked up a bokken ( wooden version of a katana ). As exciting as it seemed at the time, he soon found out the truth about the way of the samurai, and the sacrifices one makes while walking that path. Painful sparring sessions were held between Itsu and his father, inflicting injuries whenever he made a false step, or attacked too early, leaving him in bruises and cuts, teaching him the values of effort and perseverance.

Chapter 2 - Training & Responsibilities

Reaching his teen years, the boy was finally invited to a formal reception held by the Daimyo, along with his father and mother. It was a ceremony held once a year to celebrate the growth and plenty of their country where the nobles mingled together and discussed trivial and official business at the same time in a banquet. Observing and keeping to himself, his father taught him the etiquette of nobility during gatherings such as these and stressed out the importance of being restrained and strict. Growing into his more arrogant and puberistic years, he was quite egotistical and full of himself, and acted like he was above all except the royal family. Naturally, he made a fool of himself upon acting like so, and brought disgrace to the Hiromo family name. Retreating in shame, his father took him home...And this way the day, that Itsu realized he made a grave error in judgement.

Upon entering the family dojo, his father tied him to one of the training poles, and made a strike of a whip against his back, for every insult or harsh word that Itsu said...It was safe to say he made quite a lot of them, and the punishment took a couple of minutes, with each hit burned into his mind and permanently leaving marks on his back. After the agony faded, his father dropped a book next to him. In tears of pain, agony and regret, after calming down, he took up the book which was a Gean variation of the Bushido code & The Way of the Samurai. Upon reading each word, sentence & page, he changed inside slightly for the better. For the rest of the night he kept re-reading it over and over again....Until dawn approached.

Finally waking up from his brief slumber, he took up his bokken and started training arduously, hours upon hours of straining muscles from the tension each day consecutively while chanting the contents of the book precisely. And lived his days by them, taking his position more seriously, and attended the next banquet where he humbly apologized on his hands, knees and forehead for those he insulted, and reclaimed his honor by making an Oath of Service to the Daimyo. Upon an odd turn of events, he was put into a rookie squad where his official training began under the squad leader of one of the elite guards of the lord of the houses of Samurai.

Chapter 3 - " Red Squadron " !

His beginning days were one of amazement, joy and comfort...Along with painstakingly tedious duties, and disturbing amounts of training upon meeting his entire squad. Being paired up one on one for the beginning courses, Itsu was always the one on the ground, rarely coming victorious in a practice match. But he did not mind, every loss was an experience of learning for him, as he learned humility among them, once the obvious realization popped up into his head that he was not the center of the multiverse. Every minute was new to him and the various escort, body-guard or patrol assignment they got was a chance to see some action ( that of being exploration mostly, as they rarely venture out of the garrison and city ) and see the sights while going out of town.

But one assignment, three years later...Proved to be fatal. An order came in from one of the commanders that a bandit raid was sweeping a small village in their domain and Itsu´s squad was tasked to find and eliminate the threat of the barbaric raiders. But upon reaching the village, what they saw was beyond words. A massacre ending each and every life, man, woman and child alike. Even the cattle were not left to their mercy, as most were either taken or slaughtered. The scene was quite gruesome, and most of the squad rookies couldn´t take it in and regurgitated. Itsu was frozen with fear and terror. But they pressed on regardless, searching for the perpetrators that committed the mass murder and theft, and found a small encampment a few hours later, tents and the like and waited for nightfall.

When it was dark and the fires were put out, the squad leader made an assault plan with the squad of rookies as they waited, the technical tactics aside, they were trying to surround them and attack in a squashing tactic, but there was one flaw to this plan...Itsu, still frozen with fear and the images of the massacre flashing through his head. Upon beginning their assault, the squad went to battle according to plan, but Itsu remained, leaving a hole in their assault perimeter, and from there...Everything went wrong. The raiders managed to use that hole as an advantage and used it as a counter-attack to the squad and in the ensuing chaos of swords clashing, the young rookies started falling one by one, leaving only a handful of them left along with the squad leader.

Itsu took the death of his comrades hardly, knowing it was his own self-doubt and fear that got them killed. In a fit of rage, he drew his katana and started dropping the bandits like flies, and his squad leader along with the remainder of the surviving squad members and eventually defeated them as the battle waged on. In what seemed like hours, but merely minutes passed by, they were covered in blood in their armor to which the squad leader laughed histerically, telling them, that they earned a new name...They are no longer the " Rookie Squadron ", but " Red Squadron " from this day forth.

Chapter 4 - Brothers in arms

Upon returning home with the dead & wounded, the squad of rookies that were no more, organized a proper burial for their fallen comrades and sent them on their new journey in the afterlife. For the following days, they merely recuperated from the battle that ensued on that day, and met in the common rooms, opening up to one another about their future dreams and wishes. Most were common enough, with a get rich and live a life of luxury type of deal, but two of the young samurai that followed, expressed quite a humble wish. The names of those two young lads were Itsu and Miyoto. With a similar dream of just doing your best to be the best, it was safe to say, that for the most part, both of them were born and raised in the same situation with renowned noble families, and stuck inside the line of duty of the samurai for the Daimyo. The only defining difference between them, was that Miyoto was not frightened to fight, and beat Itsu in quite a number of sparring matches prior to the big battle that ensued just a few days ago.

Both of them would look surprisingly at each other for hearing their own dreams repeated by one another, and naturally over a gourd of sake, they would discuss a number of topics to get to know each other better. As days went on, the two of them would intensify their sparring matches to attempt to push each other above the limits of their own capabilities at the time, the end result of the matches remaining the same, with Itsu being thrown across the mat. He did not feel discouraged, taking the opportunity to learn with each defeat, getting better and stronger with each passing day, closing the gap of power between them, but Miyomo would chuckle every time Itsu challenged him to a duel, knowing he was still not on par with the slightly older samurai. Time flew by, and their commander gave them a few days off as a festival drew near after they finished their assignments and tasks between training.

Eagerly, the boys would rush out of the barracks after orderly placing their armor up on the shelves, and adorned their haori, rushing out to the festival. They treated themselves to some food, drinks and climbed one of the trees in the middle of the market and hanged out, watching the people squirm in the streets beneath them in a massive number, as the summer festival was one of the most popular events of the year in their city, and a lot people across the country came to it, to participate. Naturally, a few eyes set on the more adult women as they chuckled mischievously and discussed their perfect soul mate, over a gourd of sake, and shared dirty jokes while competing who could drink more alcohol, one of Itsu´s strong points, and easily accepted the challenge, and besting his friend, and after a few drinks too many, Miyoto fell out of the tree, and chipped his finger on the wood, trying to balance himself and prevent his fall but to no avail. With a hearty laugh, Itsu jumped down, helping his friend and comrade up, noticing Miyoto´s blood on his palm, as they shared a long pause, just looking at each other...The silence was eerie between them, as the rustling of the market continued around them. After the pause, Miyoto took up Itsu´s hand and pricked the same finger he messed up with a wood-chip and joined their hands together, in a brotherly manner with a cheesy half-drunk smile. Knowing what the gesture meant, Itsu nodded to him firmly, reasserting his will as he never had a brother, since he was an only child, and now was his opportunity to have one. With a hysterical laugh breaking the moment coming from Miyoto, the boys got back up on the tree, and continued gazing at the market, until the fireworks started, both of them marveling at the sight, clicking their gourds together and taking a sip.

Chapter 5 - The costs of growing up

Growing more proficient in their skill with the katana, Itsu and Miyoto grew known throughout the other squads, and up to the courts of the Daimyo, deciding to summon them to the great hall to request their transfer to the roster of his personal guards, but, there was a catch to this request. Upon getting the notice to arrive to the temple, Itsu and Miyoto put on their formal uniforms to meet up with the daimyo, hearing he was a well loved and appreciated man, since he did so much for his people. Upon arriving, the two brothers would wait at the entrance before they were called inside and they bowed to him with humility as he introduced himself as Tengen Musou. The brothers were quite surprised he acted so simply, and carried the conversation more like a local than a noble. They listened to him, as he gave them a choice if they wished to join his personal guard.

The order was to locate and bring back if possible, a ronin that broke his oath to him, and made alleged countless crimes across the country including theft, murder and mutilation. With a slightly flustered mind, Itsu doubted his skill would be enough to take down someone far older and more experienced than him, that has been killing people for years. But all that doubt dissipated once Miyoto looked into his eyes, that expression was all he needed to muster up the courage to go through with this order. After gathering all the information they had on the ronin in question, they set out, making an investigation to pinpoint his whereabouts, and after a few weeks of hapless searching, they finally caught a break, as one of the tea servers saw him on a road leading to a village near the border of their country.

After traveling there to chase after that rumor, as it was the only lead they had, they scoured through the nearby creeks, lakes and outskirts of the village prior to entering it. And once they finally arrived, they heard a ruckus coming from one of the houses. A woman screaming was heard not far from their location, so the two of them barged in, but the sight was...Embarrassing to say the least, it was indeed a scream, but not that of a woman in pain and danger. With a deep bow and apology, the brothers went out and continued searching for their target, and at last found him loitering around a local tea shop. Miyoto approached the ronin, and tried to talk it out with him. The ronin merely sighed, urging him to not try and arrest him. But both of them wasted quite a lot of time to find this man and were not about to give up once they were so close...Even though he was twice their size, age, strength and experience...

Politely asking him to step out, he did, his hand holding the hilt of the katana at all times. Itsu grew nervous, letting Miyoto talk, as the ronin suddenly halted him, explaining why he decided to break his oath, telling the boys he did a number of gruesome things for the daimyo that made him sick to his stomach, and after years of obeying his twisted orders, he was tired of it, and simply left, claiming that the supposed crimes he committed was not his doing, and that his previous owner just tried to silence him. Naturally, the boys did not believe him, and said if he did not want to go quietly, they would bring him back by force...Somehow...With a silent pause, the ronin continued, saying that if they do not believe him, they will find out soon enough, as he drew his katana and assumed a defensive position. With that said, the boys did the same, and used all of their training to try and take him down. With blows, cuts, kicks and punches galore thrown between the trio, the brothers were not able to find a weakness in his defense. So they decided to stall, buy time, attacking one at a time, using their youth as an advantage to try and tire the ronin out, which they did succeed in doing. But, it was obvious he did not wish to go back, and after a flurry of blows, the ronin attacked Miyoto head on, his intent to kill obvious in his eyes, as his dash of speed surprised Miyoto, unprepared for the attack, he closed his eyes and raised a hand in defense.

After a few seconds, Miyoto opened his eyes, seeing a protruding blade coming out of the ronins chest, as he spewed out blood. Itsu was able to intercept the ronin, and stab him to save his friend. In his dying moment, the ronin said to heed his warning, the daimyo is not what he seemed to be !

Chapter 6 - The elite six, students assemble !

Upon returning to the city with the assignment completed, the brothers reported back to the Daimyo, giving him the ronins´ katana as proof of their deed. They neglected to mention what the old man said to them as they fought, probably forgotten by Miyoto at least, but in Itsuyashi´s mind, the words lingered and echoed, but tried to forget about them, focusing on their goal of achieving the rank of their lords´ elite guards. Without further hesitation, Tengen ordered the blacksmiths to make a pair of katana, each one going between the brothers. Knowing it would take a month at least for them to be done, Tengen gave them their documents and gave them their obligations as the royal guards, summoning the leader with a messenger, in haste.

After receiving the message, the leader of the elite guard arrived to the Daimyo´s office, a giant of a man entered with his head bowed down in greetings to Tengen. Approaching the brothers, he introduced himself as Sannosuke, and shook their hands, his iron grip was painful to say the least, as he led them to their new section of the barracks to call home. They met three other, quite older and weary samurai by the names of Yuichi, Ren and Shibata when they entered the sanctuary of their common room. It was quite esthetically beautiful to say the least, pronouncing their higher authority to other more common-placed samurai, truly showing they went into another league of power. The brothers introduced themselves to the trio, and shortly afterwards went into discussion with everyone as hours passed. Upon the dawn of the new day, Sannosuke led Miyoto and Itsuyashi to the courtyard and explained that their training sessions were far from over, and that Yuichi will be the one in charge of their training, and eventually, they will have to take students of their own once they reach the mastery of the " Golden Four " as they were called.

The following month that followed was full of pain, sweat and anguish under the iron rule of Yuichi during their training sessions, not pulling any punches after the initial few days and went all out on Miyoto and Itsu. The grueling agony was almost too much to bear, but they were determined to get stronger and better, like their senior comrades. And they did, but it required months of additional training and effort, and in-between sessions, they carried out assignments for Tengen and Shibata, each more difficult than the last, and with due time, Miyoto and Itsu came to be known as the " Whirlwind duo ", members of the now " Golden Six " squad. Sannosuke would approach them one day and took them to an inn where they frequented quite oftenly, only to find their old commander from " Red Squadron " along with the rest of the team and Yuichi, Ren and Shibata. They were lying in wait for Miyoto and Itsu, to create a celebration for their new-found title and addition to the elite squad. The celebration lasted throughout the night, but the following week that came, gave them a bigger surprise than the party Sannosuke and the other members of the Golden Six organized.

Tengen summoned the brothers to his office, and handed them each a scroll, with a list of names. Their future students, each having a squad of rookies to train and care for as they were trained not so long ago. With a bright smile, the brothers bowed down and each occupied a small part of the compound and summoned their new students. The rest of the story goes similarly to how they were treated as rookies, remembering every word their commander told them during their initiation into the squad and throughout the training and assignments. With only a few months passing by, Itsu took a short leave of absence to return home, to his parents and show them the results of the decision his father made him do, after that punishment a few years ago, after the incident at the banquet. Taking the time to reconcile with him, he spent some time with them, enjoying some peace and quiet at their estate. With a proud smile, his father told him he was glad that he has such a promising heir of the family, as they indulged in one last spar before returning back to his duties, which ended up with a tie between father and son. Prior to heading back to the compound, he gave a hug to his mother and father, and told them that next time they meet, it shall be with an heiress as well, and with a loud laugh, he returned.

Chapter 7 - To war, the tearful farewell...

After a few disturbing reports by the border patrols, a few villages have been ransacked, burned down and destroyed on the borders of their country. Tengen issued a few shinobi as spies to investigate the possible culprits of the disastrous assault on his territory, and later was discovered to be the neighboring country of Yorongai. Sending an emissary to their Daimyo, it proved futile to try and negotiate with them, as the emissary, along with his escort was caught, tortured for information and killed, which showed their clear act of aggression which eventually led to the declaration of war between the two countries. Countless skirmishes and struggle for dominance were held, and both sides were at a stale-mate for what seemed like years. Neither getting an upper hand on the other in search for gold, territory and man-power, they decided to seek aid from their allies, eventually drawing four more countries in this debacle.

It was the largest war this generation has ever seen, and eventually, Miyoto´s and Itsu´s squads were deployed as well. Along with the other four elites and their own respective squads. Upon reaching the battlefront, they could see the gruesome acts of this war. Men, women and children killed, butchered indiscriminately, limbs and body parts scattered everywhere across the towns, cities and villages. Countless casualties from all sides, as the bloody mist of combat ensued in chaotical screams and battle-cries, with each day dragging on like a nightmare that will never stop. Thankfully, Sannosuke and his squad were assisting Miyoto on their front and Yuichi and Ren helping Itsu on their territorial struggles. They saw close friends fall, their students, and loved ones, as morale was getting quite low, and a lot of the rookies acting in fear, which led to even more mistakes being made in battle that led to even more casualties.

But, one platoon arrived to support the buckling number of Itsu´s and Ren´s squads, which incidentally, the platoon leader being Itsuyashi´s father himself, Hizashi. The fight waged on for days, as both sides were getting weary and fatigued, but Hizashi stepped forth, giving an emboldening speech to the squads which rose their morale quite highly, and turned the tides around in their favor, as they eventually won the battle. Days later, after recuperation, they received reports that Miyoto´s squad was pushed against the wall with their backs, and being overwhelmed, only a single squad was able to come and assist, naturally Itsu volunteered on the spot as soon as he caught wind of this report, and Yuichi agreed to let him and his squad go, and Hizashi stepped forth, and offered to go with him to help his friend. With no time to waste, Itsu and Hizashi traveled to their location, until they located Miyoto´s squad.

Arriving almost in the nick of time, they led a counter attack against the enemies that were pushing the offensive and pushed them back, just to manage to collate all the forces into one and started repelling the aggressors that lay siege to their territories. Miyoto and Itsu re-united, they fought on valiantly, cutting and slashing at anything trying to kill them, but, there was a surprise coming from the opposing side, a shinobi infiltrated their position and tried to stab Miyoto in the back while he was not looking. Itsu realized Miyoto was in danger, and in a desperate attempt to save his dear friend and brother, he threw himself between them but instead of Itsu taking the hit, Hizashi ran in, receiving the punishing puncture wound from a wakizashi straight in his gut, and grabbed the blade with his bare hand so that the shinobi cannot take it out and finish the job. Raising his katana swiftly, he decapitated the shinobi and fell to his knees, spouting blood and taking the wakizashi out of his body. To a sudden shock to this, Itsu ran to his fathers aid, but, it was over the moment the blade entered, as it punctured numerous blood vessels and veins, and there was nothing he could do to stop the bleeding. With a silent whisper from Hizashi to Itsu, he closed his eyes and departed from the world of the living. Nobody found out what he told Itsu, and Itsu never repeated those words to anyone. With a sorrowful look and eyes full of tears, he let out a cry so agonizing, the enemy forces faltered to it, feeling the pain as their blood curdled. Miyoto would take over the battle along with Sannosuke to squash them while Itsu tended to his dead father and took him someplace away from the fighting.

Chapter 8 - The fateful assignment

Once the day was over, Sannosuke organized a proper burial for all of their fallen brethren. Itsu remained silent throughout the night, suffering within himself, enduring the pain, knowing his father died an honorable death, but it still felt like a salt in the wound, realizing he will never talk to him again, share a cup of sake, or enjoy a spar with him. All those simple things he was going to miss. Miyoto offered him a consoling speech and remained with him, until dawn, as they both fell asleep from fatigue and stress. Eventually, the war died down between the countries and they signed a shaky peace treaty. All sides took that time to bury their dead, repair what has been destroyed and treated their wounds. Itsu returned home and remained there for a time, bringing his mother the bad news. It was safe to assume that she did not take it well, and he looked after her after Hizashi´s passing. He tended to the estate, and his newfound " fame " brought unwanted attention from greedy women who were after him for his wealth. He seldom left the estate, still grieving for the loss of his father, and it took him time to recuperate from it and stand back on his feet.

But his recuperation was cut short as Tengen summoned him back to his office, having a " special " assignment for him. As he arrived, he noticed none of the usual guards were with him, just Itsu and Tengen remained in the room, as he filled him in on the details that two people invaded in one of many Tengen´s estates and he wanted Itsu to eliminate them as it was a transgression worthy of capital punishment. After getting all the information he needed, Itsu departed to the specified adress and once he entered the estate, he was left in shock, seeing two children eating at the table, a measly loaf of bread and tea. They looked like orphans, and indeed they were. After taking a brief moment to talk to these children, he found out that the estate belonged to their parents who died in the war, and they were left with no family to care for them. The only thing they had is that estate and the wealth that their parents collected, which was quite a sum indeed, and the estate was quite large, that could be worth a fortune if they found a buyer for it. Thinking back to the words of the ronin they killed in their assignment to try and get into the elite guards, it finally made sense to him, that Tengen was greedy and corrupt and would do anything to keep himself more wealthy and powerful. Having no heart to end the lives of the two orphans, he took care of them for a few days, but...It did not last, as two samurai arrived to the estate to investigate why Itsu was not back from this assignment, only to see him and the kids playing in the garden.

One of them approached Itsu, asking for an explanation, and Itsu told them the situation with the children, and asked them to leave the kids alone. But, the two samurai drew their blades and tried to kill them, having to choose a life of being a child-killer, or abandoning his post as a noble samurai, Itsu drew his katana and stopped the samurai, trying to reason with them, but they would not listen to reason. Having no choice, Itsu killed the samurai to save the children, enraged by Tengens arrogance and greed, he threw their lifeless bodies outside, and headed back towards the office after giving the kids the directions to his own estate while he tried to get some answers from the corrupt Daimyo.

Chapter 9 - Tengen unmasked - Itsu the Betrayer, the elite clash among themselves !

Barging into the office, Itsu faced Tengen, seeking answers from him, demanding an explanation why he wanted him to kill those kids. What followed was quite a shock to him. Tengen admitted he wanted the children eliminated because they were the last pieces of evidence left behind of him trying to start a war between the countries. The children of the bought off shinobi that posed as the enemy when they captured the emissary and killed him. Which would explain the big estate for such a shinobi, he was getting payments from Tengen. Taking in this shocking revelation, he drew his katana in anger, blaming Tengen for causing so much death and misery and ultimately the death of his father, and pointed the blade at him. With a loud scream for help, Sannosuke, Yuichi and Shibata barged in, and looked at the scene in confusion.

Tengen used this opportunity to order his trusted guardians to kill Itsu, claiming he was after his life because he wanted to disband him from the elite squadron. Itsu knew he would not get out of this predicament with diplomacy and faced the trio, preparing for the worst, as the four locked in combat. With each slash of the katana, Itsu felt a piece of his heart missing when he fought his former teachers and friends, knowing it was him or them, and after an arduous battle, they fell one by one, leaving only Itsu and Sannosuke, the leader of the former " Golden Six ", and switched to an Iaido style, the one cut determining the winner, and as they stood in their stances, a perfect symmetry achieved in each of their movement as they made the cut and dashed forward, stopping four meters from each other, with their backs turned to them, as finally Sannosuke fell as well. Tengens confidence shatter, as Itsu mercilessly stabbed him in the heart and left the compound.

Once he got home, he explained what happened to his mother, and took only the bare essentials with him and set off on his pilgrimage. One day later, his name became known to everyone in the country as " Itsuyashi the betrayer ", or " Itsuyashi the traitor ". Miyoto returned home shortly after the incident, only to find out what he has done, and swore he would track Itsuyashi down and punish him for his deed, not knowing the truth behind his actions. Miyoto contacted their former commander of " Red Squadron ", Genshi and asked for his help in the hopes of tracking Itsuyashi down. Two years passed as his exile tormented him, as he was hunted on every corner by his former comrades and friends until suddenly a flash of light beamed at him, and sucked him inside, tossing him into Sigil, where he met a shinobi from his prime. He introduced himself as Moon, and took Itsu under his wing and showed him the ropes of being a planewalker...And this...is where Itsuyashi´s story began.
