Before I start writing the story of my kobold, I would like to mention that I am a new player here on SCoD! I am not new to nwn2 nor DnD and I enjoy both more than is healthy. However I am new to role playing on Nwn2, I figured I would give it a shot after I saw the SCoD website which impressed me very much and advertised a beautiful and creative server. I must say, now I have played for the equivalent of 2 days that I am greatly impressed and that I look forward to further exploring the World and its population as well! Here is the story of Slik my Kobold, my first shot at Role Playing on never winter nights! Hope you can enjoy!
Basic Information
Name: Slik
Gender: Male
Race: Kobold
Age: 23 of scavenging, escaping and surviving
Profession: Scavenger
Physical InformationHeight: 2' 1/2''
Body build: Skinny and frail
Skin type: Rough
Colouring: Skin has a reddish hue, apparently just like his father!
Eyes: Light Red
Mental Information
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Beliefs: Belief that is father wich he never knew was a great Kobold who accomplished great things, and that one day Slik will rise above the filth and he too be able to do something special like kill a cavern spider or something!
Additional Information
Gear: Even though it is obvious that it is way to heavy for him Slik always carries around his small shield and takes comfort in being able to cower behind it. At time he carries a weapon, all of wich he handles awkwardly. Other than that Slik wears some rags he finds and occasionnaly takes the time to repair is torn garnements
Slik walks around with an uncalculated, nervous step which speaks volumes about the bumpy road his life as taken. His scurrying about is accompanied by his apparent consatnt hunch as he bends over with every step. His awkward posture is probably due to the fact he carries a small shield that seems impossibly heavy in the hands of the frail Kobold. On second thought, him toppling over his every step might also be the cause of an obvious lack of confidence and borderline hopelessness expressed by the Kobold's demeanour. Furthermore Slik's Gaze never strays too far from the ground, avoiding all eye contact with people and constantly scouring the ground for food or forgotten trinkets. His thin frail body tell a the sad story of his lifestyle and the manner in which he shies away from any possible sources of stress or danger suggest a long history of both unpleasant physical and mental beatings. This small Kobold is obviously of more threat to himself than anything or anyone around him...

Something special occurred todayÂ… something bizarreÂ… something magnificent
Slik had been living in Sigil for no more than 6 days; he had traded his manual labor for a ride to sigil after the ruins he which he lived in was burnt to the ground in his previous city. In those six days Slik hadn’t done too much, he had spied on wealthy looking elfs, frightening orcs and strange creatures with tails intermingling at the bizarre. They all seemed so powerful and content, the small Kobold could not help himself but to express feelings of envy and jealousy Slik dared not approach them, for fear of being beaten or pushed back for god know what reason! It has happened in the past, when Slik had looked up too high, accidently bumped into a grumpy human, been wrongfully accused of stealing and even one time Slik had been locked up for “being in the way” of a running guard! Slik also went on to explore the Hive Ward, he entered the district but didn’t not go further than the bridge, he wasn’t feeling THAT adventurous just yet…
Food was easy enough to find in the numerous trash cans that line the streets of Sigil and Slik greatly appreciate that. Overall the frail creature agreed with what he had overheard as he hid in the corner of a tavern: “Sigil is a wonderful city, a place of opportunity and of brotherhood”. And although Silk still held many, many anxieties and doubts he was glad indeed he had hopped on that caravan a week earlier, even though that meant he had to pick up all the horse dung on the way. He was finally beginning to think he had found a place that he could call home, at least for a little while!
His feeling of belonging would increase tenfold when something fascinating happened inside the frail Kobold. He was on a job; the owner of a local Inn had asked Slik to clear his cellar of the bat infestation. Normally this job would have been too much to handle for Slik whoÂ’s combat prowessÂ’ where poor and who and never really been in a fight, or at least in a fight which he won, but Slik had just seen a shield a merchant was selling, it was much nicer than the one he dragged along now and the Kobold wanted to get his hands on it bad. In order to buy it, he need money (Money is refereed to as Jink, something new to Slik) and so Slik found this job, was desperate and accepted. So there he was in the middle of cellar, all his limbs shaking in fear, dragging his shield along and not a bat in sight! At that moment he heard a movement from behind and turned to see not a bat, but a beautiful lady holding a torch and sword. She seemed like an elf, but Slik fear-reduced vision couldnÂ’t really tell. Slik explained his situation to the women who kindly offered her help!
AND THEN the battle started bats of all shapes and sizes started swarming the coupleÂ… Slik didnÂ’t know what to think, he tried swatting them out of the air with his hands, with and axe, with a dagger! Nothing seemed to work. On the other and SlikÂ’s taller friend was easily riding herself of all obstacles in her path, flashing her sword this way and that! Slik could barely see her with all the bats surrounding the lady, as he looked at the ground he spotted even more laying deadÂ… all of them to this strangerÂ’s blade. Then all of a sudden, the impressive swordsman let out a yelp, then another and fell dead cold to the floor!
The sense of hopelessness Silk felt at that very moment, the despair that he had brought the death of a cunning sword-lady who was only trying to help was more than he could handle. There was no hope he could kill all these bats by himself, he was too incompetent for that and that implied that there was no hope to save his friendÂ…
That is when something happened, Slik felt so boxed in, trapped and useless that he lashed out at the bats, he gathered all his energy and lashed out, not with his weapon, not with his shield, but with some power Silk had never seen before! In a matter on seconds 9 bats lay dead at his feat, all blasted out of mid air by some energy, by the frustration Slik had gathered and thrown at them
As he stood there, with all the corpses at his feet.. Slik silently cried for the death of a kind soulÂ….. but he openly smiled at the change that had happened within him, at the inexplicable things he had done and at the answers he awaited...
Something special occurred todayÂ… something bizarreÂ… something magnificentÂ…
