Just a question about the new Blink Dogs. The Blink effect they have must be activated and reactivated each round (or sometimes it feels like every other round). I'm fine with this and not complaining but I was wondering at why this wasn't a toggle on/off effect or just a standing miss chance on the dog like the way the wraiths are?

My compliments on the DDoor effect. I have been having a blast with it.

Thanks!

Can you actually time it and tell us how long it's lasting? I can go into the script and check for that, although I'm going to assume it's tied to either levels in the class or overall hit dice.

blink only lasts 6 seconds per the psion spell so caster level never affects it.

but seems it was made as a free action for blink dogs? and the concealment seems low or is not activating .

Okay, so looking at the script:

It should be lasting two rounds. Does it take a round to cast? The concealment amount is double character level, so if you're only 4th level you only get 8% concealment. Still, I don't know if I'm really thrilled with this ability. May go back at some point and make it a <i>real</i> blink ability. Not because that would be useful, but it would look so cool.

Random: Why is see invisbilty only 30 seconds per character level for half dragon?

Because I didn't want the ability to be more or less persistent? Particularly since half-dragon lends itself best to melee builds, who can safely rest early and often in most areas without have to spend 20 minutes re-casting their gerbil ball after every rest. At 10th level, 5 minutes of seeing invisible objects seems quite fair... and really you shouldn't be needing it before then.

Okay, back to our blink corgis (not really, but that would be adorable).

But what I've done for the next update, pretty much for shits and giggles, is added a blink mechanic to the blink ability. You'll "bamf" to a random location within a short range and, if there is an enemy within 10' of where you land, you'll immediately attack them, while having concealment for 2 rounds. The ability has been given a cooldown of 3 rounds, but remains an instant ability.

Props given for the Ein Bebop Corgi reference.

It seems to hold out for two rounds, and most of the time it kicks in nearly instantly. Delay could be as simple as lag, or sometimes I swear it is waiting for the top of the round... but that could be my imagination.

The low % chance makes sense now as I felt I was getting wailed on for what I thought was a 50% miss. It might be just that I hate dying but I feel that miss chance can easily go higher. Even with displacement the random % gods of NwN2 hardly ever see fit to save any of my characters.

I dig the *bamf* idea but you have already worked in a stellar pure *bamf* trick that I love to use. If you were going to go about it that way could the ability bamf a very short distance picking a random enemy to attack that is already within say 10' at the time of the skill activation? Then make the duration like 1/2 character level? That way it would stay fairly combat effective when we get set on by the mobs common for the server or even going one on one.

This is just me running with your idea of course. Only spitballing.

A simple approach to reflect the leveling ideals of the server could be that the miss chance runs all the time at a % double your level (maxing at 62%). If needed it could be a duration of 1/2 your character level with a set cool down... again just prattling on... I'll stop now.

Again though. Love the dog, looking forward to playing with it more.
