Help With Strange Lag

Today, I have been experiencing strange lag. The ping was higher than normal for me, in general. But when I played it was fine at first. But after about 5-6 min I would get ridiculously long latency (a button push would take effect 1 min later). But I didn't crash.

The only thing that would reset me back to normal was a relog. Though sometimes I had to try 2-3 times because the server would timeout on relog. But when I did get back in, no lag until 5 more min.

Game seems to run fine on other servers. Any idea what this could be?

Sounds like some sort of routing issue... any other players experience same?

Could also be if you're using your bandwidth on other things (torrenting etc)

all torrents and IMs are off.

Maybe some kind of router issue with my ISP. Have to wait and see. Just wanted to see if I was alone in this.

Could also be your ISP and SCoDs ISP that have trouble connectivity wise..

Or simple trafic shaping/port blocking by isp...They do that alot.

still goes on when server is crowded or I am in a big party. My whole game freezes up but doesn't crash, like my own computer is busy waiting for all these packets or something. But can't even open inventory screen w/o 1 min delay when I'm freezing up. Weird. You would think stuff that didn't require a conversation with the server would be unaffected.

Are we talking about an actual minute? When it comes to routing, even 5 seconds is a long period of time.

yeah when it is frozen if I click a spell or move it will truly take 30 sec to a minute - or longer to move. But it doesn't crash and will do every action eventually.

That's guite something. Personally, 2.0+ second lag makes things quite umplayable for me.

Anyhow, I'm no expert, but I would suspect that somewhere between the SCoD server and your computer, a route between routers has gone kaput, and thus the router has decided to send all those messages through the "backup" route which might operate at considerably slower speeds or be considerably longer.

Anyhow, I'd call your ISP, since someone is paying for the connection and people want to get what they are paying for.

If you can only continue playing on BG, you have our condolences.
