Trying to get a feel for the place mechanically before I start next week. I know that in PvP duels mages are king (short of a dedicated anti-mage that then loses to the rest of the field).

So focusing on PvE, rank these three archtypes in the Sigil context:

1. Epic Divine Might Favored Soul

2. Cleric/ Stormlord/ RDD

3. Epic Divine Might/Requiem Bard

Number one works, just make him or her lawful good and a Hardhead or a Hound.

Number two, don't bother. Far too many things are immune to lightning.

Number three, it can work.

hmm...I'd prefer not to be evil, but the BG versions of FS and Bard always seem to be a bit superior. You are saying Stormlords aren't that good here because divine might damage is just a lot better?

Any tips on which is best Bard vs. FS and how you would make them to account for peculiarities of Sigil?

What kind of saves do I need to force fail on 20s most of the time? Do I really need the Cha bonus to saves on these builds esp. the bard? And would warlock do for that or is the fact that the Dark One's Own Luck is dispellable and a magic bonus (under the +20 cap) a problem?

Divine = not usually resisted damage form.
Lightning = usually resisted damage form.

For non-casting characters the most important save is that of will save. However, for a character class such as FS, you can pick up all the decent Cleric buff spells and be pretty much immune to everything, and beat everything.

Some mithral armors can be found, the stock NWN2 OC mithral ones at least, however take notice how Obsidian has not added mithral properties to all stock mithral items.

If you are really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, lucky, you might stumble on one bar of Mitral ore and I am not even sure if the staff has added them. Tthus, I would not make builds that rely on the fact of acquiring mithral gear to manage.

As a tip, some of the "bad armors" you can get are just really wonderfully enchanted. Thus there are really awesome Banded mail, Splint mail, Half-plate, Hide armor, Scale mail, and Chainmail to wear by your character.

Good tips - thanks

How about UMD - important?

also, are caster levels important on a bard or favored soul? Is there a lot of dispel that you need almost 30 caster levles to avoid rather than 20?

UMD is usefull, but you can live without, especially if you're playing a caster.

As for dispelling, on higher level areas there are monsters that are capable of casting dispelling spells. Those dispells do dispell Tarion's buffs, but I've seen a lot of high level casters running fully buffed.

With the exception of boss monsters, there is no need to dispell the generic monsters mobs.

Thus, I'd just say more is better, as always.
