So reading the Shield spell describtion it seems to give an armor bonus to AC instead of the shield bonus like the original description is yet I cant find any mention of the spell being changed on the wiki.
Is this a typo or hasn't it been documented?

The Shield spell should give you +4 Shield AC, which would stack with Mage Armor (Armor AC). For optimal results, I recommend scrolls of Shades (they last longer, more effects) if you are doing an UMD thing. Though a wand of Shield can be very affordable. For a magic-user, Shades often trumps Shield.

The Shield spell provides shield "enhancement" bonus AC not shield AC so it should stack with an un-enchanted shield's base AC effect.

Correct. Mage armor and it's improvements provide armor enhancement bonus, just as Shield provides shield enhancement.
Imp Mage armor turns your mundane fullplate into +6 fullplate (essentially).
Shield makes your mundane shield a +4 shield.

I'm still wondering why the description is different compared to vanilla game.

Well the simple answer is... it's not changed at all, it's the exact same as vanilla NWN2. My guess would be that you never paid attention to the tiny detail before. Here's a screenshot of an unmodified Shield spell
(I mean it's unmodified even in SCoD) taken from Storm of Zehir campaign.
Also nwn2wikia mentions about the error as it is
The ingame spell description states +4 armor bonus to AC. The spell actually gives +4 shield enhancement to AC.

Might have to do with differences in table top, spells and powers don't apply enhancement.
wrote:A shield bonus improves Armor Class and is granted by a shield or by a spell or magic effect that mimics a shield. Shield bonuses stack with all other bonuses to AC except other shield bonuses. A magic shield typically grants an enhancement bonus to the shield's shield bonus, which has the effect of increasing the shield's overall bonus to AC. A shield bonus granted by a spell or magic item typically takes the form of an invisible, tangible field of force that protects the recipient. A shield bonus doesn't apply against touch attacks.

Armor bonuses stack with all other bonuses to Armor Class (even with natural armor bonuses) except other armor bonuses. An armor bonus doesn't apply against touch attacks, except for armor bonuses granted by force effects (such as the mage armor spell) which apply against incorporeal touch attacks, such as that of a shadow.
NWN2 is a lazy conversion to enhancement bonus to the specific type.
