Commerce Question.

If I sell and item from one of my characters to another player for a fair price, then buy it at a fair price + profit for the other player, would that be considered "muling" or commerce?

Example:

XYZ sells ABC a morninstar of badassitude for 12k.

ABC sells JKL said morningstar of badassitude for 15k.

[where xyz and jkl are the same real life person]

As long as the item is not sold far below the market price I see no problem.

This is actually kinda "on the edge". What we'd want to avoid is "Oooh, my mage character would love this, give me 5K for this and I'll go grab her and pay you 6K", since there's not really a way said mage would know since your two characters have never met one another. Particularly if you give it to a succubus merchant to resell to your paladin.

I'd say it's fine, but dont' turn it into "every one of my characters assists with equipping the others", because it will still be creating muling events and the DM team will definitely investigate if it one person is doing it constantly.

My honest recommendation would be to sell it to a neutral party merchant to resell, and swing in on the other character to buy it then. Sometimes you just find that rare item that does one character no good, but would complete another.

Really my bigger worry would be grinding forever with your epic character and having a whole sack of "awesome archer gear" or "awesome mage gear" ready to bestow on your new character as soon as they can throw together a little cash, not with the "one cool thing".

If I were a DM and responsible for such I wouldnt allow it unless traded through a neutral party simply because it can ruin the economy quite easily.

"Just sell your brazen boots to your other character for 100 gold."
