Gamespy Woes.

Any one else having problems logging on?.

I open up nwn2, go to multiplayer, and it doesnt even take a few seconds like it normally does to tell me about authentication problem that has been persistant in Gamespy for ever, but when i direct connect to sigil i get an instantaneous "could not find" or could not connect. It doesnt even make an effort to look for it

Try Direct Connect, if you can.

If that doesn't work, it might be a DNS issue, is what I most often see. Try changing the DNS server you use. (I use 8.8.8.8 usually to circumvent issues)

It's where you computer goes to figure out how to "find" websites. Basically. Domain Name System.

What Operating System are you using? (Windows 7, 8, 10, Mac OSX, Linux, etc)

Ahh ok, i see.

And it would be number 8

I strongly suggest using NwN 2 Client extender. And also write to HOSTS file (open with notepad with admin rights) in Windows/System32/Drivers/etc/ next lines
127.0.0.1 nw2master.bioware.com
127.0.0.1 nwn2.master.gamespy.com

this should solve the problem for good.

Okay, to change your DNS server right-click on the little "Wifi bars" at the bottom right of your screen (The ones who tell you if you're connected to the internet. If you're not connected wireless the icon will look like a computer with a wire going into it), then select "Open Networks and Sharing Center".

Then somewhere on the top right of the window that appears you should see Wi-Fi ([Network Name]). Assuming you are wireless again. Click on that.

Then on the bottom left of the window, click the "Properties" button.

Then scroll down until you see "Internet Protocole Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" Click on it, then press the "Properties" button.

Check the "Use the following DNS server adresses", then enter 8.8.8.8 in the Prefered DNS field. Click "Okay" everywhere and you're done!



Note : If this doesn't work, or after a few days you should undo these changes by following the same steps but instead checking "Obtain DNS server address automatically"
