Sort of as an experiment I started a human fighter for giggles with the idea to see if it's hard to solo on gatecrasher. After a few short hours (3ish) the server is down, I'm level 7, I have close to 100 hp, 30 AC, not even in fullplate yet, my shield gives me 60% concealment (more than any spell) and will soon give me an extra attack?!, I paid 300 gold to become be ECL +1 with no LA (5/magic tattoo), I bought a hireling thug that puts any summon to shame, I have a +2 silver and +2 cold iron weapon, +2 armor I looted, and I have close to 7k in gold. :blink:

Now someone please explain to me what I'm missing. What have I been doing wrong that this is not only 10 times easier than a caster but literally walk in the park? :tongue:

Or even tell me why I would realistically consider waiting to buy +1 items.

I kind of enjoy the power that comes with being supposedly the weakest race and weakest class. By power I mean going afk to fetch a drink while my character earns autoattack exp. :tongue:

Yes, it's true, sometimes I fail my will saves, but if I ask a priest npc to cast protection on me for a lil jinkies I have no worries. ^^;;

That's the thing... the early levels, the high AB and damage output are all that you need. If you can invest in UMD or get a friendly caster to set you up with PfE for beastlands, you can probably make it to around L14 with no problem. However, at that point you start dealing with the extraplanars, and things begin to get hairy. And hairier. And downright fatal if you ever try to take a straight melee (non-ranged) build into Carceri or the Maze.

I have a +1 dagger that inflicts bleed and gives me +1hp per hit, who needs clerics. :tongue:

Already have 4k gp after buying a thug 15 contract, about as good as an epic summon :lol:

As I said earlier, just keep going. :P Much faster than trying to explain.

As I've learned on my 5 invis blade, bleed damage is 100% useless in Limbo or anything later than that. Period. DR directly mitigates bleed damage.

So you're saying that if you use every bit of NPC assistance available to you, it makes the game easier? Wow. Who knew? I guess that means fighters are really good.

Lets stay calm folks. ;) We're not doing any favors for the argument. There are also vastly differing levels of how much people feel the non-casters need help after all. Real experience is respectable way to really learn what's it about.
