Umd

I recently discovered that obtaining +5 dodge ac was only possible if using Boots of the Sun Soul +5 and was wondering how much UMD such items require, as I can currently only squeeze 20 UMD out of this build, even while wasting a feat on UMD focus, and it would truly suck if could never use the boots.

And before you tell me to, no, I cannot take bard or something with UMD. Already have four classes.

Use a Scroll: Lvl 1(DC13), Lvl 2(DC15), Lvl 3(DC17), Lvl 4(DC19), Lvl 5(DC21), Lvl 6(DC23), Lvl 7(DC25), Lvl 8(DC27), Lvl 9(DC29)

Use a Wand: DC10

Use a Rod: DC12

Also, scrolls with higher than minimum possible caster level have increased DC.
As per SoZ rules, this is how UMD works, and you can also see it from your character sheets skill section I believe, by selecting UMD.

I'm not so sure about those numbers. But the fact remains that you just need to get a stock amount of UMD to be able to ignore Class/Race limitations on all items. I actually did some testing on this few months ago, but I'm afraid I did not write down the results.

However, I can say that the range of required skill for wands and armor/weapons is between that of 10 and 14.

Wands are all umd 10

For items it's a bit more iffy... and you should also know that should you suddenly lose the umd you need to wear an item, it will be unequipped, and unless slot 1 in inventory is empty (which is basicly never is), the item will disappear.

So I suggest getting enough umd that not a curse song or level drain suddenly destroys your most expensive possession.

I am starting to think you need an UMD skill score of 12 to be able to wear and use all items.

But, even if you got free space in your inventory, the items will be destroyed if your skill decreases enough. You will just get a message that items were re-assigned in your inventory, and you will not find those items in your inventory.

Oh, btw, crypt, would it be possible to switch the current Nym file to an older one? The one from last reset should be alright. I kind of managed to delete an item or two.

I had several items equipped when I deleveled my character the other night, which would require an UMD of 11 or higher to wear. All that happened when I lost my UMD points was that they were placed in my inventory.

I did my testing in the Abyss, with the Horned Devil Elites.

How do you not have a bag space open?

Especially since everyone owns a bag of holding with 5000000 things in it :o.
