Sigil: City of Doors

Hi guys, I just had a thought the other day that I bet more than just myself has had. And even if not, I'm sure a few of you would be interested.

Upon hearing the plight of a small goblin, finding it difficult to level his monk with no gear and no other low levels online, I recognised a fellow player in need. So I logged off and came on another low level character, suddenly, it was relatively straight forward.

So then it hit me.

What if everyone had a low level character and teamed up for one really big grind party? Or maybe lots of smaller ones all around the server (cheeky edit)? All roles would be filled. Levels would be gained at lightening speed. And don't tell me a merchant wouldn't come online to sell gear to a group that big.

This is my proposal.

Saturday 23rd July, GMT 7:00pm. Setting off at GMT 7:30pm.

Make a character, any race. Any class. Any build. The craziest stuff you can think of, or just someone you've always had trouble building. Perhaps you want to re-level a character. Doesn't matter. Get online, and get with the grind team.

We'll be going to all the less used areas on the server, because, why not? Post your suggestions in the thread, of areas 1-30 you'd like to go to. I'll sort out a list closer to the day. Don't forget to post up your ideas for characters below, and get in on the party.

Don't forget there is a limit to party numbers for xp gain. I think it's seven. At least, as far as I'm aware.
Additionally, is this an IC or an OOC run? What explanations would characters have for meeting up (given this is an RP server)?

I suppose clarification is needed. In a nutshell OOC, but potentially IC if people are more interested that way.

Obviously, if this were an IC run, problems would occur. For an example, one player wants to run a Celestial. One wants to run a Demon. RP wise punches would likely get thrown.

However, if people do want this to be IC then we can create multiple groups that go to various areas of the server. But the intention is to keep it in one group.

I was unaware about the limit, thanks for the info :) It seems several groups might be the key... But there's a thought, do spawns continue to scale with group size even when exp gain is limited? Perhaps something to test on the day.

I'm not sure if my old xp scripts were altered to put in certain limits, but back when I was maintaining it there wasn't a hard limit, but you don't get any additional benefit in terms of spawn sizes at 6 I think (although it might be 7). But xp per monster is always calculated by the average level of the party.

That said, I think parties larger than 6 is generally pointless anyways, and it would be more efficient to have more groups then in different places.

Thanks for the clarification cryptc :) If people start posting what characters they fancy playing, we can start thinking about splitting groups up, since that seems to be where this is heading.

Edit: If this does end up being an IC run, then we'll figure out reasons why these groups intend on meeting up nearer to the date.

Also, I figure trying to keep it IC would be interesting and more along the desires of the server; since we're all here to role-play in some way, shape or form. As for reasoning? Could just be a bunch of indeps wanting to gather a hunting group of sorts to go lay waste to some planes. Cause you know- People do that.

And I think the reason OP originally called out OOC grind group, is because, well, incompatible alignment issues, incompatible race issues....

I mean, if there is enough interest, you can split the groups into RPable collections of characters. Then it's all good. But tbh, I'd like a chance to mindlessly level up an alt without resorting to solo statting for areas >_<

I'll probably relevel Karn as a barbarian on the day.
Oh yeah, he's full geared and will have a cheesy ass build so, probably carry a group around if others are making less efficient characters, (I know one of you wants to play Barbarian Wizard.)

Dustmen Cleric/Necromancer is something I wanted to roll, this might be the perfect time for it... I hope no one wanted to play an Outsider or Undead. :rolleyes:
