I'm not sure where the item ideas thread went too, maybe I'm just crazy, so i figured i would shoot it out to the open . . loving arms of the general discuss folks >.>.

Ring of Force Shielding (lessor)
Base item: ring
casts Shield (5) 2 charge/use

Ring of Force Shielding
Base item: ring
casts Shield (15) once/day

Ring of Force Shielding (greater)
Base item: ring
Unique Ability: once per day on activation the ring summons a shield of force which orbits the caster acting as an incorporeal tower shield, The shield moves and acts on its own granting the user a +4 shield enhancement bonus and 20% concealment vs arrows for 30 mins [or some variable time]

Now i don't think there is a way to dispel these effects if the user removes the ring, so maybe instead of once/day change it to unlimited uses for the middle and last tier one but reduce its duration to like 1 min.

Seems more like a suggestion and ideas forum topic. Also I'm not sure cast spell buffs on rings are a great idea. They're too easily swapped out after you use it for buffing, even during combat. Though would be nice if they'd dispel the said shield spell when unequipped so as to encourage people to keep them on.

You do know you can buy a wand of shield, shield scrolls/potions?

Basically you are asking for pseudo-persistent shield spell and not having to play a wizard/sorc or really high umd (shades) to get it.

Also, Cere is specifically planning to add more features to ring enchanting, and possible a specific craft ring feat to go along with it. I'm not sure if the project is underway, as the races aren't finished yet, though. But in the future, if I'm not mistaken, rings will be getting some love.

Feats fer ring craftin? :unsure:

the pnp version is a bit weaker given, its only a +2 shield bonus but its relatively common. I think rings could use a bit more loving so its good to hear them getting looked at ^^,

So something else that's probably inappropriate justifies another inappropriate item? *shrug*

(I've played on PW's where everybody has, through items, many/most of the signature abilities/spells/feats that other classes have - and it eventually leads to build choices becoming ~irrelevant.)

point being there are several items that cast wand-able spells, so i don't understand the inherent justification to dismiss another? I mean unless you are making the argument that every such item is some how ridicules or op, i don't really see that though i just think they are neat ^^,

The main point here is the ring can be used by someone with no points in UMD.
