Sigil: City of Doors

I think I've been here long enough to say that I agree with Mr. O. It happened last year as well, and what is the usual case is, most of the time the new people dwindle off, a few who enjoy RPing more than discussing genitalia will stay and the rest mosey on to somewhere else. Continue with your normal RP and ignore the rest if it's that upsetting to you. I personally always find it interesting to see which "old timer" joins up with them for the time being or tells them to pike it.

My main was a male, but I found him to be underwhelming.

I can speak only for myself but I really hate the male body shape in nwn2. It's a weak stance with no ass to speak of and stands like they're constipated with little to no customization options.

Also there's only one social server and for some of us that place is shit. I know I personally make an effort to keep such shenanigans where it isn't easy to come across but shit happens.

Tsk! Different cultures have different beliefs of propriety and what 'like a jinkskirt' means. Let's consider how culturally diverse Sigil is, and the fact that there might be Succubi and Fey walking around.

This is always an interesting topic when it comes up as it does every so often.

As far as Im concerned, as most of veteran players know I am a male player who does have female pcs (Currently Miranda is my only female pc i actively rp with), all of my other characters are male. I personally think that being raised in a house hold that was predominently female, my various group experiencss and my job as a paramedic have given me (i think) enough understanding to adequatly play characters of both genders but especially female. I find female characters more enjoyable to play simple because by simple female nature they tend to be more emotional and sensative to things around them and in general.

As for the mature/adult erotic rp?. Have I taken part of sexual themed rp with male characters and my female chars? Sure have, and likely will again, I am not bashful when it comes to such things regardless of the fact that the characters player may be male or female, as long as its tastefully done and as long as its the characters being intimate and not the players.

That being said, I do try and keep things private, most of my characters do value their privacy in spades, so if one of my characters wants to snog your character it will probably be somewhere out of the way and private but if someone stumbles upon such scenes for what ever reason well...stuff happens.

And yes, my characters who have hormones and who do think about sex do make jokes and talk about things in public, it happens.

Your as likely to walk down the lanes of a shopping mall and hear two girls talking about shagging their boyfriend and girlfriend in detail as you are to find it in sigils market or else where. In my years here in Sigil we have ALWAYS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED intimate encounters or ERP to take place either "behind the scenes" or behind closed doors because not everyone is comfortable with reading it. Its like our gore role, some people don't like gore or scenes of descriptive scenes of violence, the same applies to adult and erotic content.

If someone asks you to please cut down on the descriptions of your content and actions because it makes them uncomfortable then it is kind of your duty as a human being and as a member of this community to either respect the barriers of those around you or politely take your descriptive rp elsewhere.

On the same note, alittle can say alot and immerse people with out making them uncomfortable. If you simply emote that your female character simply holds hands with another female in an obviously intimate fashion, or they share an intimate kiss or hug, alot of the times that is all that needs to be said.

You don't always have to let everyone know that your tiefling is sliding her forged and peirced tongue down the throat of her erinyes girlfriend, letting us know they are sharing an intimate kiss will do.

Now, for a cold hard fact about themes and history. Male on male and female on female relations is not a modern concept by far. Since the don of time males have been known to throw themselves at other males, (though waaaay back in the day this was merely a sign of dominance) and many many women through out history have felt the desire and need to explore their fellow females bodies in a most intimate manner and is not a new thing so one cant really say it has no place in a fantasy setting.

And as for other related topics that one may see in game through rp like phallic shapes weapons or sex toys and the like.

Self pleasure toys most certainly arn't new either. I will have to see if i can remember where i saw it but there is a picture of QUEEN CLEOPATRA that if one looks carefully she clearly holds a rather large stone dildo in her hand.

Alot of swear words too, are not new.

For example, shit, bitch, ***, slut, whore....and other explitives...most of those are VERY OLD WORDS.

Sigil has never forbid erotic rp or adult rp because this IS MATURE server, most of the player base does hold both long term and new visitors to have respect for other players and if someone tells you that your RP theme or description level makes them uncomfortable, you need to respect that and either tone it down or find some way to change the subject and or transition else where.

See those people over there? Yeah...they live here too and we live in a place in the shape of a ring...it gets cramped in here, think of your fellow cagers before you bring out the mithril studded dildos to shag your mate in the middle of the market yeah?

As most of you know or guessed i'm a male who mostly plays Females because of the More Interesting Rp and whatnots, I have a few males too. As a Out going guy myself who's been in many relations with both genders Sex and..Intimacy is nice and all but when it's put out in public it sort of loses "Oui La La" edginess of the act and the Intimacy. Sex is a lot more fun When kept behind closed doors, that said! Guys...come on... keep it in your pants and wait until you go some where secluded eh? Of course there is nothing wrong with being a bit overly flirtatious blowing a few kisses there and winking, adds a bit more fun and depth then whispering "Ayyyy wanna Shag? I'm so hot and bothered right now.."

The balance isn't actually that bad either - the thing is just that the same characters are always in the bazaar. Like if you log in you will probably see 7 people in the bazaar. All but one will be a woman. However, if you look at the player list of the 35+ logged on, about half will be male. so what does this Actually mean? Do male characters grind more? Do female characters stand around the market more?

Regardless, it's not like the server has changed. I played a halfling druid when custom races weren't around (on another account) and still half the characters were talking about genetalia and sex. It was the same after custom race applications happened. And it's how sigil has always been. There's a reason it has a reputation in the greater nwn2 community as being basically a social server.

It's also the most actively developed server with the most unique setting so.... You learn to deal with it.

I remember hearing an interesting statistic about the playerbase of Second Life. Apparently men outnumbered women just slightly (55% men vs 45% women) but women spent much more time online in the virtual world. What this meant was that even though men were signing up more often women were staying much longer than the men did.

Many cultures have many different ways to make people pay taxes too ! ;)
