Well yes, if you're a tricky type and you avoid conflict and let your mutual enemies whittle themselves down, why not.

But Mr Otyugh is right you can't really script it to count for every possibility. That's really why I am in favor of not banning it outright. If you want to area to be more deterrent to weak people there are already lore and mechanical options you can use.

Other side to the same coin of kill a thousand paladins in Mercuria so you're strong enough to take on the Abyss.

To be clear, I didn't get any XP in the abyss. Only loot. That's the thing about going in a high level area a bit early. You don't get any XP. I'd still argue for the legitimacy of bloodcrowing loot in the abyss, even if we did make it harder to do.

I know you don't get experience for it, that's what I was using as a comparison point. You don't get any experience from the critters unless you directly or indirectly kill them, as such it feels fitting you wouldn't get any loot from them either, and since people haven't complained from the former... I don't think people would complain about the latter either if that had been the case from the get go. Only reason people are arguing for the loot, is because thus far they've been able to reap the benefits of it. Where as there's really nothing wrong that you'd have to be the cause of their death. I mean only reason a level 3 would go there is because they know they can get away with it, where as they wouldn't go to Carceri, Niflheim or Clangor trying to sneak to get treasure. Because the creatures aren't killing each other and giving free loot.

Doesn't seem like other mechanical stuff needs to be put in. Just make the change with the mobs where only players killin them gives loot. Seems like it fixes the only issue in ah pretty reasonable way.

May wanna go around to other places where the mobs fight an do the same.. or is that something that turns on globaly O?

I know you know that, I was saying it for the benefit of the others here talking about the xp. :P

Yes I don't think the combat focused characters need the extra help

So much isn't rewarded, no need to lock it in any further imho.

Well it'd likely be a global thing. It'd need some changes on monster onspawn and ondeath scripts. You could make a duplicate version of the two and only assign it to Abyss, Minauros and Limbo critters. But as far as workload goes, that'd also mean going through every individual NPC blueprint with level scaling variations that means each critter type affected times 3), so probably it'd be a global thing as that's more efficient and technically shouldn't inconvenience any other area. I do have to however look into "what if the NPC killing another is under confusion status effect" as I think that should definitely be count as a valid PC originated tactic... but that's me thinking ahead.

But let's remember this didn't start as "I'm against someone going into the Abyss invisible and stealing loot from monsters killing each other", but rather as "I'm against someone going into the Abyss invisible and stealing loot from monsters my character has killed".

I bet there could be low level abyss areas too. You know many demons are like around cr 5 or 10 aren't they? I know the ones we have here are custom "more powerful than asmodeus" demons but weaker demons are fine too. Maybe something more like the mid level range baator areas. =)
