If you don't go in on gatecrasher, those spotters aren't spawning though. Even on clueless setting, a L6 character would be getting random drops FAR beyond their level.

Fine. I apologize for calling you a thief.
Mind you, I first called you that IC - it was my toon doing it (ofc, no response but considering you might have been rping that... I guess it's legit).
Then I repeated it via a pm (did I use "jerk"? I wonder). It's been a few days, but I think I added a :) to take off the brunt. If it didn't, I apologize again. I suppose at that time you might have not understood what I was on about. Again, sorry for that.
Not sure how you could've have missed me there since half the mobs from the map converged on me. Or when you reentered the area...
And maybe it really was a technical issue that made me lose the 2nd bag. Sorry if I wrongly assumed it was you.
I am not sure what was so obnoxious in my pm's... but whatever you felt it was, I take it back. My bad.
Edit: "Jerk" was... Oh yea, I did that :P .

"Jerk" was in your original post at the top of this thread.Bogus,May 24 2016 wrote:What, seriously?poststructuralism,May 24 2016 wrote: You guys know that the expression "over reacting" is incredibly obnoxious, right? There was no IC conversation. Your "thief" remark came to me in a tell. /tell is implicity OOC, I have never used it for RP. If your intention was for the /tell to be IC speech, that was lost on me. I think lag may have had something to do with this, but now I think I can put my finger on the moment you're referring to when they "converged on you," right when you came out the AT. In fact, I was in that area outside the AT looting when you came out. I did not realize any PCs were there at first because there was a lot of fighting, and I believe I picked up one bag before realizing you a PC was present, at which point I made a beeline to the next area over so to give a PC presumably at a more appropriate level for the area the space they rightly deserved. I was long gone by the time you were talking to me IC, but how could you know? I was invisible. So all I saw was the hostile /tell. Eight years of play have taught me that if someone sends me a tell calling me a name, it's probably best just to ignore them.
Apology accepted, and no harm done! I do insist on calling attention to the language people use when dealing with disagreements. We're a small community, and we should be committed to trying to get along and treat each other with respect. For what it's worth, I apologize for ignoring you. I was very frustrated by your accusation, especially since I had just fled the scene in an effort to be courteous.

I put nobody down with my post? I didnt read the last 6 pages since it exploded since last night.
and now well denying characters that are made to stealth being able to gather a few pieces of gear? I have admit Iv done it on one or two characters because there was no way to survive their area with gear I had and it dont drop in lower places. But you might have hunt around for 2 hours or more waiting for a drop before finding something you could even sell or use.

On the issue of stealthing drops in the Abyss.
Its not something i do, have done or will do. But it does strike me as an over reaction to change things down there:
1) Time and effort vs reward, If you are only getting loot from mobs killed by mobs then chances are you are going to be their a very very long time before you get anything worthwhile. I would suggest that the devs try it for a couple of hours each to see how little it returns.
2) If somebody is following another player and taking loot then that is a different issue.
3) In a system where people can remake their characer and have a full set of level 25+ items at level one it seems a little strange to go off the deep end on this.

Since 2009 to this date it has remained just about the most popular low epic area and still remains as one of the most lucrative areas in comparison to the risks involved. :P I've been there quite a few times with dozens of characters from almost all class types, and accounts. The loot overall there is rather risk-free to get since critters do half the job in many occasions and players simply pick the loot themselves.Bazeal,May 25 2016 wrote: 1) Time and effort vs reward, If you are only getting loot from mobs killed by mobs then chances are you are going to be their a very very long time before you get anything worthwhile. Practically you are advocating for getting rewarded for something you didn't do anything about. You're not getting experience either for not killing things, and few have been complaining about that, yet it is the same principle.

Fair enough!
I think i was meaning specifically that sneaking arround not fighting and just looting wasn't very profitable. But if you feel its an issue then fair enough. Its not going to effect me either way.
I think the Abyss is very popular for serval reasons, easy access and soloability being the main ones. High level zones are either designed specifically for groups (clangor / Caceri) and/or are difficult to access / leave. This leaves the Abyss popular by default.

Other areas for a casting type you might run out of your spells 3-4 rooms in and have to backtrack to the start. In the abyss you have a cave and can rest, and rinse and repeat which is I suppose more on par with a fighter type.
I know some people can solo Clangor and other areas but the Abyss is easy for a much broader range of classes and archetypes than your combat gish.
I don't see a problem with being awarded experience for not killing something. Trickery and mercy used to be things that deserved special rewards.

Scripting parameters with which experience is given is a bit more complex. And if it was broadened up, it'd more likely to be called an exploit than either of those two. What works in PnP won't probably work well in an automated game environment since unlike PnP, you won't have a judge always present.Strawberry Jam,May 25 2016 wrote: I don't see a problem with being awarded experience for not killing something. But if you're invading the Abyss, do you really deserve XP for not killing a hostile denizen? I have a hard time believing you will be able to convince a denizen of the Abyss that they shouldn't fight to the death when you invaded their plane.Strawberry Jam,May 25 2016 wrote: I don't see a problem with being awarded experience for not killing something.
