I.e.

1. A state of affairs grips the city.

2. players in factions RP for a week or few on how to respond to this state of events.

3. The players intentions are taken into account, and given weight according to how many players are behind it.

4. The players intentions are taken into account and force a new state of affairs.

5. Rinse and repeat.

If pulled off, such a recipe can make for ongoing server events, rather than one of plots and a return to a static environment. But PLAYERS have to do their part too. DM's can't just be expected to dance.
This is really the kind of thing I'd want to see, as a player. I REALLY want to get involved, but as I said...Morthos only knows that 1 faction considers it war and that Argent is recruiting to oppose the Raven Queen. I want to be able to join events and be active, able to RP as an Athar who can use his militant nature to oppose some being who wants to be a god. Other Factions would have different motivations, but I suspect ALL could get involved. Therein lies the rub though, players have the option, and not everyone takes the option.

In all seriousness, some of the less..."charitable" PCs should feel this way. LOL. The Fey are all like, "Come at me, bro!" and some other PCs should be like, "U fokkin wot, m8!" and "I'll make you eat your ass as a hat". The Harmonium should be both involved in arresting folks for assaulting innocent Fey and verbally abusing Fey all at the same time. Again, same issue as mentioned though: players have the option, and not everyone takes the option.

I guess I just want the opportunity to take the option, which I haven't had so far until...kinda sorta...two days ago. I feel if there were a series of events, then it would give more folks the opportunity. It's meant to be a storyline, right? Make it feel that way. :P

This doesn't mean I don't find others opinions not useful or helpful to this discussion, but at the end of the day, if I don't hear from the DM supposed to be offering guidance on this plot, my questions ultimately remain unanswered.
Insulting the rest of us or what? Have you considered that players are keeping in touch via pm with interacting with npcs? Or they dont have reason to share all this information? Maybe its not intended to be server wide event, but intended for those that are interested in this sort of thing?

that theres only one dm working this, and they have limited time.

How are your questions not being answered?

Its like a whole bunch of players are mad they not been included in something when they been gone for months. Things move on weather the pcs are here or not. My own pcs has not bee in every single event even, but the npcs tend to remember look for him.

Really, nobody is owed the entire story of the plotline on whim because you been gone all this time. it comes off as a sense of entitlement when its not.

Also there are enemy players working against the groups. There was a reason why event times stop being told when on most basis to prevent metagaming .

as for which factions? Harmaonium started abusing fey and violence in the streets innitiaally. Then was told off ic it really wasnt a threat. Sooooo

Of course, Aleis is more than willing to explain to anyone just how much of a moron they are whenever someone should try to harass her in the streets simply for being fey.

Strawberry Jam,Jul 11 2016 wrote:Serious question, what would the fey even want with Sigil?
From what Morthos learned from Argent, the Raven Queen is in cohoots with the Pale Prince. She wants to ascend to godhood. She apparently can kill people and then pull souls from them. She hopes to use the souls to power herself to divinity. The Raven Queen wants to grab 10,000 souls from Sigil.
Strawberry Jam,Jul 11 2016 wrote:Any event would have to be pretty wide reaching and cataclysmic to affect the entire city, very unlike any city on any prime.
I'd say that events like Planewalkers getting killed or snatched would likely affect the whole city. Planeswalkers aren't so common that they're literally every other citizen in Sigil.
Strawberry Jam,Jul 11 2016 wrote:Second question, what are they even fighting about?
Well, the fact that someone may want to steal your soul is a big incentive to fight back...
Strawberry Jam,Jul 11 2016 wrote:It would have to be truly cataclysmic if it's spreading all over the planes, quite a departure from the established lore.
The Raven Queen has already killed over 50,000 people, if I recall correctly. That amount of bodies shocks the Planes. People expect that out of the Blood War and its machinations. They do NOT expect that out of a Fey.
Strawberry Jam,Jul 11 2016 wrote:Third question, is this an actively pursued plot still?
I'm still trying to figure this out. Apparently, some longterm PCs like Argent consider it a big enough deal that they still discuss it. Dace Andor of the Mercykillers also mentioned it. The Red Death considers it a VERY serious threat. The Athar wouldn't like that someone is trying to become a god. The Harmonium would dislike that people in Sigil have been killed or snatched. Most factions would oppose the Raven Queen, with the (possible) exception of the Doomguard.

The Doomguard is the second biggest military faction, no one even asked them to help defend the city AFAIK. :P Which is kind of silly when its marketed as a city-wide threat.

And one of the three sub-factions would gladly help in fighting such a threat at the very least, since its an unnatural attempt at a great amount of Destruction/Entropy. Lets hope that changes in the near future.

I really dont think its anyones fault if particular players or pcs are not online and happen to miss every event thats been called over the months. They are usually on the weekends. If theres not a faction involved its probably because either the pcs ignored it or they dont hear about it.

Of course and IC, certain pcs are going be more well informed if they been involved for a while. They got connections. Considering we had like 15-20 pcs when we went to Krynn to stop the shadow fey invasion force. Thats not being "select".

Debatable (the part about how large their army is). DG's biggest strength is their gear, not their army size.

However, I want it noted that Dace -was- going to approach the DG about stuff until word of their plot came up :P . (actually still might if this thing gets done with soon...).

I may be wrong in the numbers regard, but if memory served right they had the second biggest fieldable army rather than overall numbers. MrO can probably let us know the real deal.

It could equally be argued that the Doomguard would join the Raven Queen, in some more Lawful Good folks' minds, I'm sure.
