With regards to advertising the Discord in the OOC Room, I would suggest that we make changes to make it more official before we did any such thing. In particular, designating a member of the staff to run it and better structuring the roles of certain members and the powers that they possess.

Indeed. We have actually been telling people for months to stop behaviors which make it difficult for others to log in (OOC room spell parties!). Unfortunately, people still do it.rapsam2003,Feb 28 2017 wrote:If only the world worked that way... :lol:ewe,Feb 28 2017 wrote: I guess as doom put it, the rule is so loose that I don't really understand why it needs to be a rule? Like who are the few people who spend 2-6 hours in the ooc room hurting?
Can't we just pull the few people who are doing that aside and tell them to politely not do that rather than impose confusing, vague server wide rules on the mass majority that don't do this?
Of course yes, a mechanical solution to this is ideal, but until we implement that, please stop.

A mechanical implementation is not ideal, it's totally unnecessary. If people just used a bit of common sense and vacated the OOC room when it started to look a bit full and crazy, there'd be no trouble.

Mostly going to throw my lot in with Theorum and to some extent Whitefly. Acting like this is somehow a big deal and that it's important for the health of the community for you to have a room to mess around in that everyone has to come through when they log in is nonsensical. Just mess around in a different room that's out of the way if you're just chatting away out of character, it's really easy and not against the rules.
Or use Discord/IRC. You donuts.

It would just be for the spellcasting portion. Current track record, has, unfortunately, proven that to be necessary.Whitefly,Feb 28 2017 wrote: A mechanical implementation is not ideal, it's totally unnecessary.

I don't like donuts and I take offense to this.

That's kind of the point, isn't it? People don't do that. They get to having fun and caught up in it. Nothing wrong with fun, but we DO have a whole server on which to have fun. :lol:Whitefly,Feb 28 2017 wrote: A mechanical implementation is not ideal, it's totally unnecessary. How often has the point been driven home though? I never knew there was any staff-side or widespread disagreement with people hanging out in the OOC room, I'm sure I'm not the only one who didn't realise the policy.
I want to trust our playerbase, I want to give the players a chance to show that they can go along with the rules without their hands being forced.

Excuse me, SCoD Staff, I do believe that your justification for making the new OOC ruling was that there is a Discord channel for OOC use.
Well, where is it?
Within 3 days of your new ruling you disenfranchised the SCoD Discord. Is this the sort of staff attitude we can expect moving into the future?
