SCoD doesn't have an enforced minimum age. Policy earlier at least was "we're not your parents." :P

Also why the hell would dragons or elves take so much longer time to mature? Does that mean that as species they are pretty daft? :P And orcs are actually way more intelligent since they mature faster? That's something I never quite understood why would some races take such a long time to mature. Okay lets assume for dragons it's because they're so huge and it takes longtime for them to fully grow... elephants take 10-14 years to reach to adulthood ^{(depending on species)}, and those are pretty darn huge. Lets take a larger species, blue whales! It takes them 5 years to mature. I don't know, I just have a difficult time to understand why'd dragons or elves take so much longer to mature.

It's one of the peculiar D&D's contorsions around the basic setting's lore. I remember elves were previously allowed to live even a thousand years, now (prior to 3.x) their maximum average lifespan is 400-500 years. In addition, the authors complicated things even more, saying that such race is considered adult around the century, while the phisical maturity is reached as humans do.
Frankly, this is one of the issues I have adressed in my own setting, stating that all humanoids (elves, dwarfs etc. included) all live the same amount of years on their earth, they are made different by other things.

Now, about dragons, D&D dragons are more longeval than the same elves, this poses two problems with any dragon

1 - if it's too young, besides the common issues with age which were mentioned in the opening post, she can't have all the phisical and magical powers a "common adult dragon" has got.
2 - if it's very old (thousands of years) she should be a fearsome beast that would slay 1/10 of Sigil before being put in a maze or killed by the Lady of Pain, thus the restriction to players is in order.

Every adult/mature dragon is more intelligent and wiser, witty and usually self-possessed than any creature of same age maturity. This means no dragon going to bite loiterers because they said "you're ugly", and especially no acting like a common mortal humanoid in front of everyone. If such thing happens, it's a breach into the basic D&D's lore and, if the player doing it was in one of my sessions, this would award him/her of one admonishment; if he/she keeps insisting many times, a curtail in experience point is given, then the sheet is destroyed by my own hands and she is forced to do a new common character. :lol:

I've only ever seen it come up once, in the example I mentioned, and even then it was really just a weird misunderstanding.

I think most people on the server tend to show common sense when given a chance and this topic isn't super relevant as a result. Yay Sigil. Let's move on. : x
