I have to wonder about this whole "no word about it" thing IG as well....It's more or less the first thing half of us end up discussing the second we enter the bazaar. I know my PC has made absolutly no secret of the fact that there's an alarming situation involving beserker fey for a while now, and I know others involved have discussed it at length. Heck, the last event I attended involved pretty much the entire bazaar, so.... yeah, I really don't know where we're getting "but it isnt talked about".

Please everyone remember to remain civil. Just to address this, It is an open plot line and a large scale. That said there are players who are more involved, and the reason for that is they actively push the plot. They make use of the event topic or pm me with steps they would like to take.
While you can join in without the forum you likely won't get anything out of it beyond the public events. I don't have time to sit in game answering requests or be on every npc all the time, That's the point of a rp post. If you want to push your own agenda through the plot then all that takes is a PM. However if your not willing to do that, Then its highly likely it won't happen. It might seem unfair but if your not willing to meet the DM half way don't be surprised if they turn their attention to someone else.
To the lack of information for new players that is a bit unfortunate, There however will be a public events every second monday starting 18th between 3 - 5pm GMT while i move towards a conclusion. The perfect opportunity to learn more.
As to the changes of Sigil, Unfortunately such things take a lot of time OOC as such there are only a couple points in the event that you will see active changes. For anything else you will have to use your imagination, Or join the building team and make changes for me.

I think if there's a large scale plot then definitely delegate and encourage more EM's to run related events. It seems like it affects a small group much more than anyone else.
If you had 5 or more people running the events you could even have different groups on different quests concurrently at the same time. Both related to the main plotline in different ways. It would also encourage more communication between players to actively seek each other out and share details of what they learned or what they did. Filling in the missing pieces from their own quests.
The description of "a handful were selected to go on a top secret mission" seems to encourage the idea that it's not a main plot. Otherwise one group says "It's happening all the time!" and another group says "What's happening all the time? I've not seen anything happen, you barmy sods!"
A main plot should involve lots of people in different ways. But that's really just my opinion.

At one point in time other DMs and EMs were assisting in running events and everything you're describing. I'm not entirely sure what happened to them, but I think it can be chalked up to "running events takes time, energy, planning, and communication with other EMs/DMs" and "stuff happens" whether it be real life coming knocking or people just simply losing interest.

From what I've gathered and what people have told me in my short time on here is that EMs typically run events for small groups of their friends but anyone can be an EM. Unfortunately older players are more well connected, ntegrated and already have their cliques of people they want to primarily play with. Their relationship with staff is better so they have easier channels to get things done with.
New players that do not join the server with a group of friends may find them selves on the outside for months or indefinitely. I would suggest finding a friend who'll want to eventually become an EM for you, make friends with an EM or become one your self to run events for your small group of friends. If that fails there's always flattering the popular kids 'till they let you in or just enjoying the solo content!

It's more a case of players getting burnt out from constantly being on alert and being overwhelmed by events. I personally have asked around for opinions on this as of late, and it is the general consensus I am getting - characters/players alike are tired. In that same vein, (and this is getting a little off topic in lean toward personal response) it is why I, myself, have been taking player requests rather than forcing anything on the general community.Sinlinara,Jul 12 2016 wrote:At one point in time other DMs and EMs were assisting in running events and everything you're describing. I'm not entirely sure what happened to them, but I think it can be chalked up to "running events takes time, energy, planning, and communication with other EMs/DMs" and "stuff happens" whether it be real life coming knocking or people just simply losing interest.
EMs are discouraged from running events/catering specifically to their friends. That being said, we are playing with a small server and the likelihood that there will be some crossing over is expected, especially when certain EMs may know more about particular character stories and growth or circles are connected and validated through IC RP. This rings true more so when players reach out to EMs they know and trust.IntricateIntricacies,Jul 12 2016 wrote:From what I've gathered and what people have told me in my short time on here is that EMs typically run events for small groups of their friends but anyone can be an EM. At the end of the day, it's not solely up to EMs to cater to the population of the server. There has to be some meeting half way. If players would like to request personal/private events we have a listing here of available EMs and their availability. If you're not really willing to reach out and ask, it seems somewhat misguided to belittle those people who do get off their asses and get involved in things.
If you have events in mind, or something you would like to achieve beyond "sik lootz" - my doors are open!

I was under the assumption running events for your friends was encouraged given how streamlined the EM process is. Though yeah, it's discouraged but ends up happening anyway because people are going to play with their friends - on the em or player client. Though you seemed to basically reiterate what I said that EMs will get comfortable with a small group of their friends and typically end up running seemingly exclusive plots/niche events for said groups because they enjoy RPing and doing things for their friends. This at a glance is rather discouraging to people who might have trouble getting into a group or haven't had 6 years to know the ins and outs of the server.
Either way there's more to a server than EM interaction. A lot more. Player interaction is far more important. But let's be real and honest. At the end of the day we all want our characters to make a difference and impact the world in a meaningful way. This can be done through players but the validation of having an EM post something IC about something you've done, or acknowledge you, or put your name on a plaque IG or something is what we a lot of us really want. This should be earned, of course, but occasionally DMs and EMs miss other good role players unfortunately by tending to the good role players they've gotten comfortable with.

Actually..I have seen a large number of new player integrate themselves into the server without issue recently. Some even seem to be getting into established events or initiating story lines of their own. It's been really refreshing to see actually.IntricateIntricacies,Jul 12 2016 wrote: New players that do not join the server with a group of friends may find them selves on the outside for months or indefinitely. Are you having trouble finding people to play with? Joining events and the like seems to depend on how people go about trying to get involved in character.

I apologize, IntricateIntricacies, but I'm going to have to disagree with you.IntricateIntricacies,Jul 12 2016 wrote:I was under the assumption running events for your friends was encouraged given how streamlined the EM process is. Personally, all the plots I've been involved in have been run by EM/DMs outside my IC circle of connections. This is preferable so those people can be involved. Everyone is quick to cry favoritsm when they're not being catered to specifically, but are not willing to put in the work IC and OOC to get involved, initiate, or integrate.

There seems to be a theme about that. There are multiple events that happen that are closed off to the rest of the population, and the majority of the events that happen are like that. The ones we are lucky to be a part of are usually just a one-time thing with little to no chance of continuation. There are times when even when requested multiple times for certain events tend to get ignored by most/all of the EM/DM staff. I can attest to that. While the staff may say be patient because there are a lot of plots going on, some of us are still waiting for our plots/events to be picked up for more than a year and a half if not more. And I am not the only one who has been waiting for such and asking around if somebody is willing to.
While I do agree that there are lots of events that get spread around, it is mostly faction/group related, and the older members usually get preferential treatment. Sure, the new players get lucky with getting drawn into an event or multiple, but a lot of them get overlooked. This is not a bash against the staff of EM's or DM's, just an observation.
