Up to the DM of course but I do not like the idea of this failing due to ooc reasons. Nor do I like the idea of the work putting into this going to waste. Mauric would not give up just because of a minior setback. The civil war was just stage one. It makes no sense for him to return at this point.
Many of us seem busy at the time including myself and that makes it harder. The diffrent timezones doesn't make it easier either. It can still be done though if people are willing. Much rather put this on freeze or continue in another manner than what we have tried thus far. One option is to retcon it unto before they met up in the room and those away can continue once they return.

I do not like giving up either, but freezing that event lines means that either we cannot play our characters as they are stuck in that world (and we wouldnt even know for how long) or we do play an outcome we dont know yet.
Of course iam intersted in continuing it, but a cliffhanger is not something I like and I take any option to avoid that.
