Tildryn implicitly raises a good point. I don't have enough experience to judge it yet, especially since the spawing will be diffrent solo than for gorups. And I haven't soloed a lot.
That being said, my initial objections were not about it being too hard at all, so the idea of it not being for soloing isn't really a relevant objection.
One thing I have noticed is that often my divine power doesn't seem to work there. The str boost is there, but my BAB reads normal and my log ab is lower than it should be. But I need to test that more - just wondering if anyone has experienced that.

Well. I know who casts them now and what the regular casting order usually is.
Though it seems that there are a few of the daemons inside who act out of character and toss Mords when they shouldn't. Bad Daemon!
I may have misjudged it, the melee of some of these things is tougher than I thought.

yeah been there a few times never had my character killed there. ran off yes. sneaking around kept them alive. while they mord, then bigbys them hidden in place waiting for the spell to wear off.
Its kinda like that anti magic place figure your buffs will go away due to mords so just go offensive and go in a group.
besides xp is better in groups.

You know, some do not have that 10+ dice of sneak attack.Tildryn,May 2 2010 wrote:If you've got that many of the types that happen to cast those spells casting at you that often, you're doin' it wrong. :PLost and not Found,May 2 2010 wrote: When I go there, I usually find my character a target for 3-10 bigby's per minute.
And frankly I do not really mind the brand that uses HiPS, but the lot who uses Ethereal Jaunt is just rubbing me the wrong way. Just mentioning this because the characters who do not manage to kill the mobs in few rounds, will get more familiar with those abilities.
(And my character is laughing off their Bigby's line of spells, most of the time.)

Personally, and this is just me talking and my thoughts here...
But I tend to favor "pure" builds, with either "all or none" Prestige classes.. meaning you take ten levels or none at all.. But thats just me..
anyways, back to on topic!
I have little to no troubble with my 29 bard, Elsibeth Drake. She is Charisma Baised, with lingering song, curse song, requiem and hymn of requiem.
And I have no troubble at all killing by myself in any zone really, there is 1 monster out there that gives me troubble, but Im not gonna way who it is.
Anyways, to deal with most of the monsters there, i just sing and slash, poke poke them until they die. They cant hurt me at all really, with AC, Displacement, and Mirror Image going. And their little dispels do nothing to me at all.
Now, when i see those Shator (however they are spelled), and the Shator Lords, I immedately use Haven Song. They almost always always fail, due to their wil saves being only semi-good, and my Haven song DC is 41. So, I become etheral. Then, i stand right next to them, and use Requiem. Which really stomps them good. Just a ton of sonic damage, 120 points per round if they are alone. which drops them in a round or two. If there is a group i use curse song too.
But the point is, is that Requiem and Curse song, doesnt break Haven song. So if youre a good singer and quick with your clickys, you can pretty much kill them all and they never get a chance to see you at all. So they dont even get a chance to cast bigsbys at you.
But it does take time, especially if your requiem is on cooldown. So you must be patient, and willing to stand in 1 spot for 50 seconds sometime, just looking at monsters walk around you. But hey, it works.
But to be a pure bard you need to be a pretty patient and determined player. (trust me, it stinks being a pure bard until level 21. then things get easier)
Anyway, 100% Pure bard with good songs has my vote. You guys can keep your Spell Resist, HIPS and whatever else builds. A pure Bard does just fine!
XOXO
Neiska
P.S. ~ For those wondering, I dont have HIPS (obviously), and I'm a Half Drow so no SR either. I do have like 24 from a sword that i use, but the get through that low of a SR pretty easially.
And my Charisma is 30. Dex is 20. (with stat items of course)

As I said, I really jumped the gun on this. Mostly because when I first did Carceri I had serious lag issues - which still come and go. But having done it with better lag, it really isn't an issue for my Favored Soul 26 / Rogue 1 / Cleric 1 / Paladin 2 build at level 28. Tildryn's tips were bang on. Run by the etheral guys, keep moving, and get them on the next swing around the beach. Just hit the lords hard. Keep moving.
I now rip through Carceri solo super fast and haven't died in like 20+ run throughs.
