I like the idea of adding the merchant status, and that also brings me to my reason for even posting!.

Could we add an extra bit of information to the location line?

Ok...

So player A is in the Bottle and Jug....

But player B scratchs his head because he is new or has never been to the bottle and jug.

Where the heck is the bottle and jug?.

Something simple like

PLayer A is In the Harmonium Barracks/Ladys Ward

Player B is in the Hall Of Records/Clerks Ward.

PLayer C is in Thayan Tower/Ladys Ward.

Wiz, that would require a lot of changing to create that sort of detail, and it wouldn't be changes to the scry tool but to the module.

Personally, I'd think that would only make the scry tool even more meta than it currently is. Unless it's one of those odd times when the bazaar is empty, it's an excuse to ask "Hey cutter, I'm supposed to be meeting someone at the Bottle & Jug, but I don't know much of the city beyond the Market Ward. You have any idea where that is?"

To expand upon why it would take larger changes, Wiz, basically the scry tool is asking the map name, but the areas themselves aren't categorised, so you'd have to add a custom variable to each map with the text you want. It's doable without having to alter every map on the server, because you could set it to return the typical map name if the descriptive map name variable doesn't exist, but I think Ceremorph has a point about how useful it would be.

The purpose of the scry system is to help people find RP and friends to level with, the former of which is obviated if you can just get computer guidance and the latter... well, you can always send a tell and ask the one you're trying to reach for directions.
