Can already make mighty bows with other woodtypes, not sure this will actually be necessary
Also, we are working on getting unlimited +x ammo recipes into the game, incase you were thinking you had a +5 unlimited arrows bow and was missing the mighty ;)
Which improvement is most important to you?

Actually, did a little research further into this and found something weird, don't know if it's an obsidian scripting error or something deliberately introduced into this server, but when my shortbow is equipped, I am already adding my strength to it's damage. This seems odd... I thought normally bows only do this if they are Composite Bows... that's 3.5 rules, but still I never noticed this happening before either on NWN1 or on another server I played on. It seems to be on more than just the character sheet as well, because I managed do score 7, 9 points of damage at times with normal arrows when it should be a range of 1-6. I'm not complaining, but just wanted developers to know, that it seems "mighty" is superfluous at present, whether crafted with Zalantar or Shedarn Wood.
Obviously if this were fixed, I'd hope composite recipies would be introduced, along with them being harder to make (higher craft requirement) than normal bows. But again, this is what I've found, do what ya will with it.

I would add that now I DO have a mighty (+4) sheddarn wood shortbow that I made, simply cause that's what should let me add my strength, but when I tried this and checked this stuff above, it was with the normal bow I crafted with the normal wood planks using the normal shortbow mold recipe.

Bows:
Zalantar: Mighty +2
Shederran: Mighty +4
Duskwood: Mighty +6 and 40% weight reduction (item weighs only 60% of base weight)
Any composite bow is mighty +2 in base NWN2.
Now, please state your build layout, ability scores, taken feats and ammunition used. I'm fairly certain you've just forgotten to notice bonuses gained from somewhere.
Plus, the character sheet lies.

Ok, here's the build. 1 level rogue, 6 levels fighter. Dex 17 strength 16 currently. Race halfling, strongheart. Base attack bonus +6. No special bow feats at all. Main Hand Weapon: Shortbow. Attack Bonus +10/+5, Damage 1d6+4/ x3 critical.
I could surmise that the +4 damage bonus is because a bow is being counted as a two handed weapon, hence strength and a half damage, or +4(round down).
The bonus to hit makes sense because a halfling is size small so base attack is +6 + 1 size +3 dex bonus = +10.
What does not seem to be the case is the functionality of the mighty effect. Regardless of a normal bow "having" or not having +2 mighty as a base, it's giving the full +4 damage which is puzzling. Once again, I do not have point blank shot or any other damage with bow related feats.
Further, I have scored 10 points of damage with this bow, so I know that it can actually do the full 6+4 damage, on a non-crit. I also know that this was done on a non sneak attack, so no addition of +1d6 took place.
***additional, note: This bow is not listed as composite, nor is it magical at all. I have the same result with a purchased shortbow and one I've crafted with shortbow mold and 2 wooden planks***
****additional edit note: using normal arrows****

Alrighty, I made some testing. I created a character based on the given information. I set the difficulty to easy to ensure that my character would deal the maximum damage as often as possible.
The highest amount of damage my character was capable of pulling off was, six. With basic short bow, basic arrows the result was as I expected it to be. The lying character screen did proclaim that I would get the "+4" strength damage, however, not once was it applied to the actual attack.
Looking at the given information, if your character doesn't have any Weapon Focus or Specialization feats, it would suggest that your character is melee orientated. And the fact is that sometimes the game becomes little confused on what your character is wielding if you switch your weapons.
For example, my drow has been able to use improved power attack with a short sword. Normally for medium sized races you cannot use the power attack feats with any of the finesse weapons. Even if you try, you will only suffer from the attack penalty and gain nothing in return. Suffice to say my character made more damage per hit with the short sword than with the scythe he was wielding a moment ago.
This bug has happened to me during both off-line and online play. It could be one explanation for your increased damage.
The other is that for some odd reason the game decided not to show the Sneak Attack or Critical hit messages on top of your character's head.
And I would ask you to do some further testing to see if you can further replicate the abnormal damage output you've recieved.
In the Under Sigil, below the Great Bazaar, you can find several locked doors and you could try bashing them with your bow to see what sort of damage you can deal. Don't forget to take screen shots, please. Also, I would appreciate knowing if one can bash doors with bows. (Never tried it.)

You can bash doors with ranged weapons, but it's actually the ammunition that is doing the damage.

And the base damage dice is determined by the ranged weapon.

I did go down and test this. As you said, the actual damage never spiked above 6, EXCEPT when something odd happened, like switching from power attack to bow and firing... glitchy. Odd that you can get a power shot off like that before it realizes it shouldn't. Bizzare, always thought scripting was logic, not messy half measures. At least, I think it was power shot that let it go over 6, might have been an ammo change at that point when normal arrows ran out and it switched to a stack of magic arrows. I did note though that most of the metal gate like doors down there are immune to the actual missile damage. It's the stone doors that can be damaged by piercing/arrows.
The Sheddarn Bow also had a 1-6 damage range despite its mighty+4 .. but again, I was using at that point some magic arrows +1... most of the damage averaged 4 or 5 all the time but I got some 7's and 8's... so having a +4 damage bonus and +4 mighty seemed like it should have been higher, but sometimes random chance just hands you sucky dice rolls, couldn't tell for sure how any of it was really being calculated.

The Strength modifier with 16 strength is +3.
Now, am I wrong to assume that the damage your character was able to pull with the mighty bow, was four or five at the lowest?
