Pity, that it was only a joke. This course of events seems to had been interesting.
However... now to think about it...
Da hell did Takers forget in Ysgard (even if lore-wise they have presense there)?! It is plane of heroism, eternal valour and battles, thus no place for greed and bureaucracy there.
Berserker prepares to charge, but all of a sudden is stopped by person in black sunglasses and tuxedo...
"Sir, I am here to inform thee, that thou can not fall into thy rage without signing these papers, acquiring raging license at cost of 50 standard units and paying taxes in amount of 5 standard units for every word in thy sout and 10 standard units for every non-censorship foul language word, if thou plant to swear on thy enemies. Services of providing the needed legal procedures would cost thee 12 standard units per sheet for documents, plus 34 standard units for initiating the procedure, plus 7 standard units for every minute of our time wasted on providing our services. In case thou refuse our services, thou still hast to pay for the time, spent on providing the information we just provided, plus tax of 23 standard units for cancellation of procedure. We also warn thee of responsibility in case of not paying taxes. And by the way, this warning also costs thee 17 standard units.
Gratitude for using our services... by the way, did I mention courtesy as well as evry word, I spoke thee will also cost thee..."

What the faction war really did was make Sigil more of a generic setting, somewhere a LOT easier for any DM to drop their PCs into without having to memorize a stack of books. Simply dumbed-down and simplified, and more of a way-station on the way to where you're going (see the "Die Vecna Die!" module or the "Savage Tide" adventure path from Dungeon magazine, several bits of which I borrowed for one of my own campaigns back when I was actively DMing. Rather than "Sigil is the hub of an extensive multiplanar gameworld and the most interesting city in the universe", it turned into "Sigil is where you go to talk to Rule-of-Three or Shemeska, then immediately leave".
And then it got downgraded even further in 4e, getting displaced by the City of Brass. It's gotten some mention in 5e, but I'm not overly hopeful that we'll get a detailed setting of it; it's more likely they were just throwing a bone to us old-timers who'd rather play in the planes than spend more time in Faerun.
To me, the best thing about Sigil was how it could be made to fit into ANY campaign world. Whereas with grayhawk or forgotten realms or dragonlance or dark sun, so much was tied to specific items in a deep well of history, either making it difficult to translate (read the backstory on Tomb or Horrrors or Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth sometime), impossible to realize (oh, and Waterdeep is in my world now!), or at best forcing you to go through and remove references to the Flaaness or the Sword Coast and replace Elminster or Bigby with some other famous person. On the other hand... Sigil's got doors to anywhere, which in turn opened up all those other worlds as well (homebrew world to Sigil to Oerth to take on the Temple of Elemental Evil, or to Toril to meet Volo and do a pubcrawl through Luskan's dockside). And of course the planes are universal, so no matter where your campaign started, just including Sigil gave a more sensible reason for "and suddenly your party is in Cania!"

Interesting idea! Good to see the server catching up with the established time line. Really though, there is the concern of the RP vacuum that the sudden destruction of the factions is going to create. Has the team figured out a way to fill this hole? Also I get the feeling there's going to be a number of characters who've worked hard to achieve a ranking position in their faction that aren't going to be terribly pleased.
That aside, I look forward to the strange and new world we seem to be heading for. Here's to post-Faction War.

That sounds pretty cool to me, of course I can't talk for the DM team, but I'm fairly sure it's okay if it's kept plausibly vague-ish.Er_Nano_Infame,Apr 1 2016 wrote: uh didnt expect that , right when my angel just became a signer lol. i hope to have chance to share some dedication to this developement. in the meantime i wonder, if my seer could start to have foreboding visions of the conflict to come

Is it really a good idea to be doing this to all of the newer players?
