Barbarian rage is extraordinary ability also: "Extraordinary abilities are nonmagical, though they may break the laws of physics. They are not something that just anyone can do or even learn to do without extensive training."

So no, just getting pissed doesn't make you able to get rage akin to barbarian rage.

This kind of ability was even in planescape torment, something the staff has taken many spells and items from.

You don't even need to go that far to look for a spell or ability to induce rage, NWN2 already has spell called Rage. Which as far as I remember does nothing to spellcasting abilities, neither does inspire frenzy.

"You say something rude about the target's parents, and they can't stop theirselves from trying to beat you into a bloody pulp.

If the target fails their Will save, they must act in ways that cause your demise as swiftly as possible. If there is an opportunity for them to attack you (be it by charging, full attacking, or casting spells), they must take it."

Currently taunt skill is:
*target fails* OH that's mildly insulting. . . let me kill your friends now and we can discuss it over tea.

Casters can already do that. This skill was something that gave warrior-types more than a snowball's chance in hell against a mage, and it wasn't even that strong. One round, oh my gaaawd! Meanwhile a mage can dominate you for actual minutes as a flesh puppet.

A moment of silence for the fighters.

Stalwart Defender isn't however built against mage types, that's what you have mage slayer for. And they do have disrupting blow which is actually quite good.

And again, taunting only alters your target priorities, not change your attacking methods. Same as a wizard in invisibility absolutely shouldn't decide that using their quarterstaff against hellfire erinyes is an attack of opportunity to their benefit. For one: it does absolutely no damage, and for two: they couldn't even hit the thing likely since that's not the combat training they have went through.

If you are made angry at something, you aren't going to try to make your weakest possible attack at something, no you try to kill them. And what does casters use to kill people? Well definitely not their attack that they know do least amount of harm to the enemy, they'd try to decimate their enemies with magic.

Quite, we're talking about the Invigorating/Vigorous Challenge while using the term 'taunt' liberally. And taunt will continue to work as it has. Invigorating/Vigorous Challenge however does not.

Some epic feats that might be nice =)
wrote:BULWARK OF DEFENSE [EPIC]
Prerequisites: Con 25, defensive stance 3/day.

Benefit: The characterÂ’s defensive stance bonuses increase to +4 Strength, +6 Constitution, +4 resistance bonus on all saves, and +6 dodge bonus to AC.
wrote:MOBILE DEFENSE [EPIC]
Prerequisites: Dex 15, Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack, defensive stance 3/day class feature.

Benefit: While in a defensive stance, the character may take one 5-foot adjustment each round without losing the benefits of the stance.

Normal: Without this feat, a character canÂ’t move while in a defensive stance.

@mr0 I would like to mention your also talking about remaining Sane while being pissed. yes a Sane pissed creature is still probably gonna try to use what method is best for him at the time. then theres taunt levels that cause Blind Rage, ((I think kender can get this as a feat in dragonlance)) the taunted looses all sense of sanity and blindly attacks the offender, only capable of using what is in there hands and so pissed off there unable to complete somantic or Verbal components of spells, if taunted has barbarian levels Rage could automatically be activated, Frenzy Beserkers must make an additional willsave as if they took damage = to taunt to not also frenzy,

so I guess it depends on what level of rage inducing effects on taunt you wish to allow.

You could make a feat that uses the taunt skill and then compares taunt check vs caster concentration check and then apply 5% arcane spell failure per point difference, deafness and silence for 1 round. Instant activation and cooldown for 2 min or 5 min.

Wont that sort of achieve what you want?
