It might appear hasty. There are things that go on behind the scenes. Some things are build or decided on in private forum threads, pm conversations, and the like. It's not hasty to rush to remove something that was shot down in the past and wasn't supposed to be implemented in the firest place, or to jump on a consistent rule breaker and finally drop the hammer on them. What might appear hasty, from what I've seen here, is more often the result of issues that have been boiling in the background for quite some time.

Public drama! We haven't had one of these in a while. Lets all decide what everyone else has in their minds. Especially with quotes without context in signatures! :P
Look, disagreeing is fine, but maintaining an assumption of malevolent intent is doing no one any good. And yes, obviously the staff can decide what kind of features it applies to the server based on past experiences people have had. They are allowed to listen for people and make their own decisions, they are adults themselves as well.
And pinning blame on others isn't a new thing in RP scenes either, and essentially that's all the doppelganger feature was about, not to mention there actually has been a doppelganger character utilising the old manual system in the past which largely set the pace for expectancy.
The only reason staff is made to look "woe so terrible" currently is because of the public drama, and there's always going a lot more behind the scenes and handled calmly and rationally there. It's seldom a good idea to try to paint a negative opinion of the staff publicly and expect them to magically view your input positively. Of course there are things which could be done differently or better, but as I've kept saying, public path isn't usually the way, especially when you are talking of people rather than features. Talking about features publicly, fine go for it. Talking about people and putting them into defensive isn't... unless they deliberately choose to invite it on themselves, which I wouldn't advise, it almost never ends well.

I do not remember discussing the new GUI project with a person who throws backstab reports nor with you Otyugh, so you do not know the whole picture. And quote is not out of context, its the whole post and I love it.

"Hasty" means "without testing it within actual players".
"Polygon tests" do nay give objective information on how it will work with players. A public trial period is needed to get that.
For example, whether people truly lack conscience to extent, they are going to grief someone with new feature (without naming particular features), or nay, is nay controllable by showing feature to few "testers" and "DMs" and asking "what thou thinkst about it".
"Testers" should have one and only one task - "to test feature, if it works as intendeth mechanic-wise"
And objective data is only acquireth by seeing how this thing actually works.

EDIT> also would like to ask Mr O not to flame here, as I intend to keep this constructive.

It's the same thing like with True Seeing. A PnP ability that could be disruptive for RP, so it was toned down*.
It's actually a lack of double standards at play, because Doppelgander ability was toned down. If there were double standards, it wouldn't be.
And it's still an improvement over what was an old appearance change function.
*) - Ok, it's not exactly the same thing with TS, because axing TS mechancially did not made it any harder to troll people IC with it when your character species has it in the lore anyway, lol. I'll never stop making fun of this overreaction.
