That thing could affect something if it copied a PC name. But it does not do that so it is an entirely time saving. I doubt that somehow it can create the whole drama. And just spending hours of your time to make it look atleast decent (so it wont be looking silly IC, may require an hour or even more). Again, if it gets intentionally abused there is always an option to take care of that player especially.
For example, you may just add a space after someones account name, create a PC with exactly the same name and start sending bad tells. But we are not limiting players and tying CD-keys to a single account because of possible abuse, right? The same thing here. Game has alot of things that can be exploited. That one can hardly be, and even if someone manages doing that, I do not think that only because of that other players should have fun spending the entire day on editing their armor parts. You may take care about the player instead.

Thats how PnP works. I am not bringing anything from myself. If you ever played Baldurs Gate, you must remember doppelgangers copying armor along with appearance. I am not mad. If you do not like the job done, I will do as players like.
What happens to the GUI is currently held between team. We are going to decide in a day or two. Armor copying is going away it is true. Maybe GUI is going away with it.
No it does not copy name. Only item visual appearance.

Anyway I can just hit Print Screen and copy it over. That thing saves your time only, it adds nothing 'impossible to do'.

People have Persistent True Seeing and some even use a Metagame abilities. Considering, that by the rules, only few in the Realms can have 24\7 True Seeing, I think allowing Doppels to copy armor - is not that bad idea.
I imply that server has more serious troubles and much more weird things aviable to players, rather than Armor-Copying Doppelgangers.

Yeah, but a the same time races with persistent True Seeing were axed out of this ability mechanically to not disrupt RP and to not grief.
Though they still have it IC. :>
But the one thing remains - you can't copy character overhead name, so the impostor is know OOC-ly. Which falls under having to wait for consent to RP it, anyway.

The only race with perma TS is Baatezu, as I know.Embersworn,Aug 6 2016 wrote: Yeah, but a the same time races with persistent True Seeing were axed out of this ability mechanically to not disrupt RP and to not grief.

Since the name doesn't change but to know this would be quite OOC:
What about putting a very low DC check on it (maybe spot of 10? -server rule) for purposes of general RP. Even with 0 spot you'd still have 50/50 chance to suspect that it's not the true character.
And, if there ends up being some big plot that is ok with another player, then through valid RP that DC could be slowly raised for imitating and perfecting one particular character dupe. By DM or player agreement.
So, then without a lot of investment in RP the dopple could still try things but most of the time would get ignored or run out of town/harmonium etc.
(Just looking at possible IC compromises)

Exactly agree. You know who character is OOC so it makes no confusion at all. I do not know why the option that is available anyway (just print screen) should be removed.Embersworn,Aug 6 2016 wrote: But the one thing remains - you can't copy character overhead name, so the impostor is know OOC-ly. Exactly, have a look at this picture.Gazoo,Aug 6 2016 wrote:Since the name doesn't change but to know this would be quite OOC:

You have so many things to counter that IC. So many... Just if you pay a little attention to that.

It needs to be like rolling Spot VS Doppelganger's Bluff. By PnP Doppel recieves circumstance check +10 on Disguise, and +5 check on Disguise or so, because of having high Bluff. So DC should be like Spot VS Doppelganger's Bluff+15, since we roll Bluff instead of Disguise.Gazoo,Aug 6 2016 wrote: What about putting a very low DC check on it (maybe spot of 10? -server rule) for purposes of general RP. Even with 0 spot you'd still have 50/50 chance to suspect that it's not the true character.
