I could have sworn there was a fish or bottle model for daggers, but I think I'm mixing it up with clubs. I guess what I mean is that spellslot gear should be on clubs more often so I can have a spellslot-providing winebottle. Would unironically use the book shield, too.

I haven't played my hardhead actively for a while now so some of this might be outdated, but the secret ( ~OPINIONS~) to me has always been patience. It's obviously pretty important if you find yourself just standing in the bazaar waiting for someone to step to you, but it's also extremely important when dealing with other players for all the reasons Mr. O has been talking about. If you're playing a hardline harmonium character or you're unreasonably threatened by someone holding a quarterstaff, you're going to have a bad time. The server just isn't built around something as conflict-heavy as what the typical guard character would be necessary for.

I think the issue might stem from players ooc knowledge that mechanically anything handheld is a weapon rather than whether it is classically a weapon or not. For the same idea consider monk gloves, there are definitely equipped weapons but you wont see them. The laws aren't for ooc anti-grief or for domineering against other players, but to add options for role play I assume.

Lore wise some of it wouldn't make too much sense. Small wars between factions have been known to break out from time to time. Applying the letter of the law for those cases would just lead to absurdity, that is the harmonium can't realistically just arrest their enemies and expect it to go their way. ^^;;

Wielding of Weapons in Public
Wielding of weapons in public is defined as displaying a weapon or having it out of its sheathe, holster, or peaceknot in public, even if not in a threatening manner, except for cleaning and maintenance. Officials of the Harmonium are excluded.

My takeaway is this. Harmonium are the only individuals allowed to wield weapons in public. A cager interested in carrying a Halberd around with them had better keep it in their holster, and when a Harmonium official comes up to them and asks them about it they had better cough up a permit. In fact, they probably need a permit just for owning weapons to begin with.

If Mogar the Barbarian is running around carrying a greatsword in his hands and they are not a Harmonium official then they are breaking the law. A generous Hardhead might be inclined to just let them off with a warning and tell them to put it in its sheath or go put it away back home. A less generous Hardhead is perfectly within their authority to fine Mogar. If Mogar continually has summary offenses... Well then Guvners and Mercykillers might end up needing to get involved. ;)
Well, there may actually be a compromise: one could, say, drape the dangerous part of weapon in cloth for example and emote it *Blade of halberd/spear/glaive/naginata wrapped in cloth*. But I do not think, such person has mandatorily to remove this weapon to inventory.

You don't need laws when you can interpret them any way you want however. :tongue:

But if you establish all those laws as certain and enforced facts then Sigil is the most lawful city in the multiverse ... so where are we again? ^^;;

The lead Hardhead booted, pointing at the bariaur and tapping a comrade's arm “The goat-boy thinks he’s going to charge Can you believe it?” One of the other Hardheads moved forward. “You’re under arrest, goat-boy. Come with us peaceably or-*
"Why am I under arrest?” Quadi cried, taking another step backward. One hoof hit the alley wall, and he knew that the Hardheads had maneuvered him into a dead-end. One of the bashers retreated slightly off into the shadows, his sword glinting in the dark. Quadi‘s shoulder muscles tensed further. “After all,” he stalled for time, ”you don’t even know my name. How can I be under arrest? Where’s your warrant?” The Hardhead‘s lips tightened. “You’re a Free Leaguer, aren’t you? Or is that just a ’scar’ on your scrawny butt?” The leader pointed toward Quadi’s left flank; in the wan street-light the image of a dragon devouring itself was clearly visible, shaved into his coat.
Quadi backed up further, his hocks and rump scraping against the sharp razorvine climbing the wall behind him. “I’m an Indep, yes. But why-” The Harmonium leader suddenly struck Quadi’s face, and the bariaur instinctively reared onto hi hind legs.
‘Because you’re an Indep, that’s why,” the man screamed as the bariaur came back to ground. “Your kind’s got no business here in Sigil ”
One of Quadi’s eyes was fast swelling shut while blood trickled from his nose. His fists clenched as he braced for another blow. One of the other Hardheads closed in on him, but the man merely spoke, his voice a whisper. “We’re getting rid of you weaklings--allof you. We’re tired of you letiing every cross-trading berk and his brother into the Bazaar. You’re under arrest, goat-boy.” Then the basber looked over at the other patrolmen. “Chain him."
Quadi charged. He hadn’t room for any kind of speed, but he butted his head up against the Hardhead‘s chest. He was a young ram and his horns’d barely begun to curl under. Only a week ago, though he’d been at the armorer's, getting silver tips applied to his horns. Now the hardened edges acted as wicked pikes, and one tip cut through the man’s breastplate and punctured a lung. The Hardhead cried out in pain and collapsed, frothy blood curdling from his lips.
The basher who'd struck Quadi lurched forward, pulling his sword out of its sheath. But Quadi was faster and leapt forward. He swung his head down and upward, and both metal-tipped horns found the humanÂ’s soft belly. The Hardhead staggered backward, his hands grasping QuadiÂ’s throat. The pair fell heavily to the ground.
The third Hardhead raced forward, drawing his sword. Just as the young Bariaur freed himself from the dying manÂ’s clutches, he felt the searing pain of cold metal bite into his backbone. The bariaur tried to stumble to his feet, but his hooves failed him. He lay crumpled in a heap, his spine severed. Quadi stared up at the remaining Hardhead and tried to focus his fast-dimming eyes.
“You’ll never break US,” Quadi choked, his body trembling. "Scum... we’d rather die.” The Bariaur's voice faded to nothing, his eyes staring unblinkingly up at his killer.
The Hardhead spit.
"Then die."
Anyone that tries to pull that off, instead of groaning about minor things like a hammer in your hand or merchant blocking the path, and I shall praise them as the champion of role playing =)
The Measure One I just retired did this all the time. Mind you it was in the Hive (and the areas that bordered it) but he was most definitely one of the Hardheads who made a point to hunt Indeps.

It was a hobby of his :)

And Taihou... just put the weapon away when in the city. I don't care if it's a big weapon. I don't care if you don't like the use of bags, I don't care if you think it's ooc... it's the Law as we've set it up in the Mod. Ignore it and you will be in violation of it and the Harmonium will react accordingly. Fighting it tooth and nail on the forum will not change that as far as I'm concerned.

From the look of those laws tho it doesn't take much to quickly ramp up giving a wrong look to the offense of high treason. :lol:

Luckily 1) our online times do nay match 2) I am mostly in mood of playing characters with sheatheable weapons recently, thus I see no reason for thee to overreact (and friendly informing of intents in case thou would now take out thine harmonium character and attempt to by all means ambush that polearm wielding character of mine).

As for laws, as I sayed, they may be interpreted differnt ways, and one either is considerate of it, or his playstyle will ney be found pleasant by others.

P. S. And I am having strong impression, thou hast something personal against me, sir, which is strange, because I do nay remember committing anything, that may have earned thine personal dislike. If, of course, thou do not consider person having other opinion, than thine, unacceptable offence.

even if one is very conservative and apologetic towards some deep-seated things, throwing oneself at such subjects as if chest-wise on crenell is certainly nay good habit.

I don't have a problem with you, Taihou, it's simply that no matter what people tell you, you simply refuse to abandon your position. When people tell you over and over that you have to put your weapons away or be in violation of the law, you keep on arguing. You don't accept it if you don't agree with it or it somehow goes against how you envision things.

That's the only thing that bothers me. You absolutely refuse to lose.

Anyhow... we've gone way off topic. The topic (originally) was what faction do you play. I think we need to get back on topic or simply close the thread as it's served it's purpose.

"Wish thine word to conclude the argument, say "I agree with thou" " - sir Winston Churchill.

Agreed, on topic now: now I have perhaps some inspiration for a xaositect or anarchist character...
