Rather than fighter or warlock, I'd suggest one of the other "combat" classes: Paladin, Ranger, or Swashy. That way, there's more of a "straight-line" progression, gaining sensible powers with levels, and less "feat progression", where you're more likely to realize "oh crap, I forgot to take mobility, now I have to wait five more levels to make weapon master".
Also, that way she can look directly in the book and see "okay, next level I'll get improved two-weapon fighting, so I need to start looking for another good shortsword". Obvious rewards are always nice for people who are learning a new system.

Agreed to this one. Monk could even go here as well. Paladin would be very easy because they have very few spells, very few skill points and only a handful of abilities.
I'd encourage her with this: Have fun, play a character you love, and feel free to make mistakes.

Thanks for the advice everyone!
I'll let her choose whichever class she wants. I'm actually interested to see what she decides. I might nudge her towards a combat class, but it doesn't matter too much.
I'm not too worried about her coming up with a "useless build." I think it's all but impossible to fail to complete the OC unless you completely alienate all of your companions. I can't even imagine that happening.
I toyed with the idea of playing a different module, but to be honest, unlike NWN where there were a lot of single player mods I enjoyed, NWN2 really does not have any that I thought were first rate from a story standpoint, which will really be the point in this case.

Hello all!
Having been one of those other halves before, I definitely know how she feels!
I was so worried the first time my boyfriend suggested I try and RP with him! I had played games like morrowind/oblivion and WoW so I had a rough idea on how to level characters and a guide on what each class did. So I'd suggest letting her play on Morrowind (I love this game soo much) so she can play on her own without the fear of real people judging what she does, just until she feels comfortable in a particular class. Especially as you can choose outcomes and how to play out your own story, she will end up creating a character before she knows it!
This will give her an idea of what sort of character and class she would like to move into an online environment.
If you're not a fan of that idea and she still is nervous. I just made my first character like myself. Just base it on her. So she wont have to act or try and make decisions based on what that character would do... she can just act as she would (with some tweakings on the language I expect).
I hope this helps, and tell her it does get easier with practice! And soon she'll have character ideas coming out of her ears!!
