Greater Devils or Demons also sometimes grant pacts to their minions. There are also fiends who have the innate ability of eldritch blast without having warlock class.

Warlock requirement is evil or chaotic alignment so a baatezu warlock can be lawful evil or neutral evil.

Level 29 grants the only epic feat they miss. Unless you count bonus feats of certain classes.
Nothing forces you to take the PrC class, and the way the classes where before was considerably more pigeon holed. 8 elc has become 3 elc thats another five levels to play around with to complete your build, Its also much closer to PnP as most special races require racial HD. This also allows you feats that would have previously been denied like dragon form or hymn of requiem.
Your forced to take the class if you want your outsider wings. If your trying to play a true devil, its 13 levels to become the full transfation and then your level a very minor bit for any classes not on your favored list. Unless your one of these favored classes, you are very ineffecient. We have /sooo/ many classes and they are only getting granted 3 to choose from.
On top of that, its the same class combinations for nearly all these racial prcs.
Lucadia, if all you want are the wings you get those at level 1 of the racial PRCs. So you could always simply take warlock/sorcerer/favored soul 1, succubus 1, and then still have 25 levels and two class slots to play with. Yes, it puts a damper on the ability to create wonky four-class gish builds, but it doesn't force you to build to that, and there's even some benefits.
Examples:
Sorcerer 1/Succubus 5/Cleric 9/Stormlord 10. You get your EDM, you get all your stormlord goodness, there's a nice charisma boost, plus you don't need to invest in UMD to read wizard/sorcerer scrolls or to use class-locked sorc items. Oh, and you still wind up with Change Self, the second tier of immunities, .
Warlock 1/Brachina 2/Monk 21/Rogue 1. Full monk abilities, PTWF, +2 to dex/str/con (racial), a warlock invocation, and extra abilities like regeneration, blindsight, and natural armor.
And so on. There's no pigeonholing happening here, only choices.
My support is 100% for the new system. Regarding your critique of Succubus specifically: a variety of Favoured Soul builds can already solo every area; what will this addition actually change? This PrC simply allows more to be evil. I mean, divine casters are ridiculous, but PvP balance isn't factored into decisions, so when it comes down to it this is the chaotic+evil PrC for being a FS--something we don't currently have.
Regarding half-celestial/fiend as templates... that has me wincing. Assuming the end stats are the same as current, they get 1 extra level but lose a class slot? I think most builds could survive that, assuming full or near-full spell progression, but others get a lot of mileage out of that 4th class slot that 1 extra level isn't going to make up for. It also adds another level of complexity, comparing a template PrC to racial PrCs.
Also, half-celestial/fiend isn't something you "become" like it's the case for liches, vampires, or death knights. The former two are literally templates in PnP, and the third is a class, so sure, they make more sense. To me, half-celestial/fiend would have to be a PrC that you take only at first level, with spell progression at all levels except first.
And there are lore concerns for many races. Elf half-celestial? Sure. Goblin? Ehh... you're going to be hard pressed to convince me that a deva said "I'm going to have a child with this goblin." And the monstrous races are just a flat no. I take it as a given that there are going to be racial requirements, or else I'll be making my half-celestial beholder.
Half celestial is a template in PnP, This means it can almost cross with anything of course if we are using rp restrictions then it would be anything non evil.
wrote:Celestials' magical nature allows them to crossbreed with virtually any creature. The offspring of the resulting unions, half-celestials, are glorious and wonderful beings.
To carry our their responsibilities, celestials sometimes spend great amounts of time in mortal realms. Being devoted and kind, they occasionally fall in love with mortals: humans, elves, unicorns, and similar creatures. The objects of celestial affection are never evil and are always intelligent. They always return the love of their immortal paramour and willingly conceive the child, usually caring for it since the celestial has other duties.
No matter the form, half-celestials are always comely and delightful to the senses, having golden skin, sparkling eyes, angelic wings, or some other sign of their higher nature.
Though noble and compassionate, half-celestials are often dismayed at the evil among their kin and take a stern, sometimes harsh, view of base instincts or malevolent actions. Never truly fitting into any mortal society, half-celestials are usually loners and wanderers attempting to right wrongs wherever they can.
The new system will also grandfather in old builds, So you can just keep playing your character as is.

One class selections for these races is pretty poor. Their racial stats is never going balance out to making them enjoyable if your forced to lose caster levels for what your race is supposed to get.
Anyhow, I relent. Most of the races I dont even play, its more for sake of argument for other players.
Ill move on to another question:
Are we supposed have option to get the tails for the new devil counterparts if we wanted them? They are also disappearing after relogging.
