Sex appeal and availability of customization will generally trump mechanical power. Thus why we see more nymphs, tanar'ri, and eladrin instead of mindflayers, fire giants, and beholders.

I was being sarcastic. Prolly a childish decision, in hindsight, but it was based on an earlier discussion. < 3

I would totally play a female ice giant but for now it don't seem possible.

It certainly doesn't help that nymphs, tanar'ri and eladrin are both mechanically superior to illithids, beholders, and giants, but they also have the better customization too.

Then there's the sort of setback with over-saturation because who cares about winged fiend chick #342? They start to blend in with all the other ones.

And then people realize that being succubus#375 isn't very fun, because it lacks depth.

There's a reason I develop somewhat complex backstories when I *really* start playing a character. Hell, even in a PnP session that lasts for less than 3 months, my character had this really complex backstory. If your backstory is, "XXX-kissy-fiend likes seduction", then you may need to work harder on that. LOL

Giants are actually, really, really strong a race. If they could be customized you would see a TON of them.

Back to point,
The problem with mithral armor is that there aren't enough options to couter it. Aurorum is the big one, since Adamantine DR doesn't stack with anything. So, all things considered, I'd suggest a compromise.

If Mithral Armor is to be added, have the dex allowance count as an enchantment slot, just like the regen from Aurorum.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that Mithril armors be added... ^^;; Just a question about what armors were already in the game and a lot of memes.
