I don't see how.Tildryn,Jan 10 2010 wrote: Having seen how useful this thing is on other servers, and how annoying it often is to be logged in and everyone's god-knows-where, this is a good thing. B)
Hitting "P" gives you as much information about character location as this tool would.

You'd have to go to every single area though, and hit 'P' to see where people are though.Neli,Jan 10 2010 wrote:I don't see how.Tildryn,Jan 10 2010 wrote: Having seen how useful this thing is on other servers, and how annoying it often is to be logged in and everyone's god-knows-where, this is a good thing. B)

If I'm not mistaken (never used one of these things before myself), it would give like an area list? Or you could somehow find out if people are in one area already or not without actually walking all the way there first?
Something like that?

What it does - if it's the same as the one I've experienced before - is gives a quick readout of which areas have players in them, and a very rough approximation of how many.
"There is a commotion in Sigil Main."
"There is a large group in The Hive."
"There is a group in The Halls of Records."
"There is a small group in the Olde Spirit Inn."
"There is a wanderer in Undersigil - First Floor."
That sort of thing. It also has an option to become 'Anonymous' so you don't count toward the numbers in the readout.
I forget what numbers were which, except that wanderer was one person, small group was something like 2-4, group was 5-8 or so, 9-12 or 15 was a large group, and above that was a commotion? As I said, rough estimates.

Exactly. Using the P button only tells about your area. If everyone logged is in the second or third zone of different areas, you might not find anyone on the server.

True. Can't count how many times I've logged in with 20 people online and found none or one of 'em in Sigil Main, especially at odd hours, and sometimes none of them are people I'd consider myself close enough to spam with "Where are you?" tells. So... then it's "run to this grinding area, run to that grinding area", and hope that some of them actually want to RP. I think this tool would make sense, and be a far better fit for the tone of this server than the "stalking tool" endemic on some other servers I've played.

There are 20 people on the server, 17 of them are Anonymous. :P

I still an skeptical. I mean, there's not a lot in of diversity in the places you can go when your looking to "grind". Undersigil at low levels, then the grey wastes comes next, then the Beastlands and so on. If your level five and your looking for a party, there's a good chance you'll find one if you got o one of the level five areas. Ive not had too many issues in finding a group if I wanted to go out and explore, so I'm not sure what the big deal is.

And I have to say that isn't the current player stalking tool already fulfilling that role?Dedic8ed,Jan 11 2010 wrote: Yeah, but that also lets me know that they don't want to be found, so avoids the risk of interrupting other important RP while looking for my own.
