I wasn't trying to accuse anyone, I just know I've seen people camp chests.
I think it doesn't need to be limited to 1/day... I'm not so much worried about players getting 2,3 or even 5 or more chest spawns, I'm more worried about those players that fight themselves into this place only to find someone camping there so they don't get their hardearned reward.

Yes, give more freedom to those who're doing nothing else anyways 24/7.
Forgive me for being a bit sarcastic here, but if this is supposed to be a ruling then it's very short-sighted in terms of both balance and general player happyness.
Imagine that swishy freaky character who soloes places all the time. He's probably not too bothered to find an empty chest once in a while. Now, compare that to a party of characters who grind through an area very slowly rp'ing all the time, then everyone being happy once they finaly defeated the spawns (or boss monster) just to find out all loot has been snatched away from under their noses again.
Now, who's that ruling doing justice to ?
Just food for thoughts, nothing more, okay ?
Now this seems like a fair IC approach really, doing the stealth classes some justice and including a roleplay aspect as well. Good compromise I guess.Mabus wrote:Although from now on, I'm reevaluating my deeds and taking an even more IC'ly view on it. In other words if I'm going to sneak all the way into the wererat's lair to pillage the chests, then I should, by all rights, have to eliminate the shaman there first (ie. assassination, then stealing the chests, and exiting). Just seems more realistic and fair to me. After all there's a good chance he'd see/hear the chests being opened around him.

Ceszar is a Ninja Looter.. it's just his style. While other characters' strengths lie in stabbing though or fireballing through a group of baddies to reach loot, Ceszar's lie in sneaking through. That being said, I don't Ninja loot in areas that have people there already.
What drove me to reply to this thread, is yesterday whilst sneaking around in the giant caves, I had to go afk for 2 hrs - something that can easily be misconstrued as camping. I wasn't camping (I don't have the patience to), and I hope <3 doesn't think "I" am the exploiter!

oh come on.....
if you really feel so wronged by a char using his skills to obtain loot, roll a sneaker yourself?
I mean.....we all have our play style, not every player using hips is a scoundrel only hogging loot.
I have been a sneaker for what? 7 years including nwn 1 ? Kelth and some other chars being the only exception. It´s sad that so many players hold a grudge against them when it comes to looting.
A hipser, 9 out of 10 times, is a squishie, you CAN NOT expect them to melee their way into the hoard everywhere.....
consequence? well, yes! you and your party might find the loot gone....but hey! the admin clan increased respawn rate...so take a cup of tea, do some social party laughing and wait for it, loot and be on your way for the next crew?
simple, polite, and everyone get´s a bit of loving.
I AM ofcourse, completely ANTI chest camping, most likely also a good RP reason to pvp someone the hell out of there IC....(greed being the factor or anything else suiting the situation)

So what ?
I played a HIPS sneaker myself for about 5 years on my fav NWN1 PW which was extremely low-magic.
Could she survive any fight alone ?
Nope, because she was a squishy weakling.
Did I go ninja looting with her ?
Nope. Because I have experienced both sides of the coin called frustration.
On that server 90% of the playerbase agreed upon the principles of mutual respect, fairness and being most excellent to another.
Really, just having a weak character is not a reason to pee in others peoples mug o' coffee - and I would possibly know because most of my characters are pretty damn weak, sneaker, caster, melee'er or what-have-though.
Of course, next argument, roleplaying on a persistant world is very much a group experience (like traditional P&P) as it is a solo experience (like your regular video game), but even when soloing or just playing alone (for whatever reaspon) I tend to think about the grand scheme of server atmosphere (the IC part) and a healthy gaming environment for people to enjoy (that being the OOC part of it). But perhaps I'm too much a DM/GM at heart.
Just saying, even despite roleplay should be completly IC and never be dictated by OOC factors at all, we can still try to make other people feel comfortable and strive for a feeling of community.

My opinion on this is...
I don't want to encourage sneaking into end of dungeon ingoring everything else in the path and just snatching the gold and loot... but in some quests I might like to see this kind of behavior in general, avoiding "guards" etc then going inside a dungeon/building unseen and do what you were going to do without anyone witnessing it.
Difference I see in these two? Greed versus roleplay.
Of course roleplaying style can be given as justification for the said "ninja-looting", but really you're just wanting that gold without working on it and having no problems getting it, of course you're doing it.
That said, I don't think it's entirily wrong either, why? RP justification... but I think it should require more effort and there should be more difficulties that might lead one to do something other than just drink a single bottle and get done with it...
Perhaps noise traps that removes hide... dispel traps that removes invisibility/ethereal.

Perhaps some quests introduced specifically to cater to the stealthier types? Some buildings or special areas introduced allowing thievery/stealth/trap/lockpicking? Something for us rogues to have an outlet to deter from stepping on others' toes...?
