The Celestial Glory set is vastly overpowered and also not in the player shop, though it's pretty funny you'd state that you use it and then damn UMD use of holy avengers in the same text-breath. If you want to lower the pool of gear evil-aligned PCs can use, maybe actually give them some thematically appropriate to use in the vast quantity of evil grind-areas. Hey, look, it's this argument again...

What makes Celestial Glory OP? o_0

As for UMD locking Holy Avenger and alike... okay, yeah, cool. Where's my Profane/Unholy/Cursed/Malignant Avenger and how am I to reliably bypass the overwhelmingly evil monster roster's DR?

UMD locking is all round bad mojo in my humble opinion.

I do think if something is vs alignment then if you use it, okay you use it, but maybe it hurts you too because it's made to hurt you.

This is what I wrote about the UMD abuse. If anything similar has to be tried, it should be a DC raising, before locking certain items short.

@Strawberry

Your (good) idea can be implemented by (it's just an example) halving the bonuses in case of numeric ones, and denying augmentations if present (like "permanent speed" etc.). This would be made to mark that there is a huge alignment contrast. :)

Goofy but practical example: I'm the evil-master of many things, and I have put my hands on the Most Holy Sword of the Seven Ways to Kill Baddies. Let's say I have enough UMD, I'm still of totally opposite alignment, so the sword will become the Most Magical Sword of the Three Ways to Kill People. Much part of its holy power is denied because of that. It will have both roleplay and mechanical explanations.

That exact example is why fitting as much UMD as possible on every character is so important already. It doesn't need to be higher because it's already mandatory for very important equipment unless you're a wildshaping druid.

edit: Just to clarify, the vast majority of the end game areas have evil foes. The only exceptions are Mercuria and Jurassic Park which are awful slogs to get through because good (ugh) specialized against good gear isn't anywhere near as easy to get as evil-targeting stuff is.

I would like to see Jurassic Park get an extension actually, maybe a tribal outpost and sacrificial caves. Those crystals are so mysterious too, and remind me of the psionic planar sites that confer special power.
